“Please speak your mind.” Right now, Charles probably had his head in the clouds, imagining all the

wonderful things and not realizing the annoyance Ethan displayed, and his attitude turned even more

sycophantic.

Any good deal that fell between the fingers of a person such as Ethan was enough to last the Woland

Family a lifetime, and he wasn’t ready to miss this golden opportunity!

Although Charles was already in his seventies, he seemed like a lapdog when he nodded and smiled at

“From today onward, if anyone from the Woland Family, including you, makes Alice frown even just a

little, I’ll skin the Woland Family alive.” Ethan parted his lips and enunciated each word slowly and

clearly. He wasn’t loud, but the air of dominance and authority that he carried with him made one obey

without any questions.

“Yes, of course…” Initially, Charles was still unaware, and his bootlicking attitude made him agree even

more to anything that Ethan said.

No matter what Ethan said, he simply had to agree to it, but after a few seconds of concurring, he

finally came to his senses and realized what Ethan meant.

He paused in stunned silence and looked at Ethan in bewilderment. The smile on his face slowly froze

up, and he looked like an absolute joke.

At the end of the day, Charles had lived past seventy and wasn’t a dumb person. So, it finally dawned

upon him what Ethan was speaking about as he finally regained his wits. “How are you related to my

granddaughter?”

By bringing up that Alice was his granddaughter, Charles clearly wanted to draw the distance closer to

Ethan and had forgotten that he wanted to toss her into the jail just minutes ago. He even wanted to kill

her and had conveniently forgotten that he wanted to burn all bridges with her.

Even a person as composed as Ethan was taken aback by Charles’ thick skin. “You have no right to

know.” By now, he couldn’t even be bothered to spare a look at Charles, whom he doubted was Alice’s

family.

In a matter of seconds, many images flashed past Charles’ mind. He recalled how confident Alice

sounded when she spoke to him threateningly and claimed that she would take back everything that

the Wolands had. He didn’t believe her at first, but now it dawned on him that Alice had an unusual

relationship with Ethan, hence explaining her confidence.

Undoubtedly, he couldn’t offend Ethan. In contrast, if he could use this chance to make just the

smallest connection to the Knight Family, the Woland Family could receive a lot of benefits. He wanted

to send Alice to jail and get rid of her because she was no longer useful to him, but now, she was

involved with Ethan, who even directly spoke up on her behalf. So, he had to use a different approach.

Once more, he put on the face of a bootlicker. “There’s probably a misunderstanding, Mr. Knight. As

Alice’s grandfather, I’ve always doted on her. Earlier, I was feeling unwell and didn’t know what

Ethan glanced at him coldly. “Nobody can lie in front of me.”

Except for one person, Alice, but that was because he was willing to listen to her. The lie Charles was

telling was too ridiculous, shameless, and immoral, directly refreshing Ethan’s definition of shameless.

people would have long been gone already.

Back in the banquet hall, the surveillance from the lounge on the right had finished playing, and the

truth was out.

thought, this seemed fitting with Charles’ style, which was despicable, and setting himself as morally

superior to others.

he has given his silent consent for everything.” The person who said this had underestimated just how

despicable Charles was.

“Alice is Lucas’ daughter and a member of the Woland Family. They’re being too heartless to her, aren’t

they?”

“Fortunately, she’s able to recover the surveillance. Otherwise, she’ll probably be on the way to jail by

now.”

Everyone in the banquet hall fell silent when they heard those words. The surveillance video was

destroyed, and the hotel manager said that it couldn’t be recovered, not even anyone in the room could

recover it. Yet, less than a minute after Alice made a call, everything was solved and the deleted

footage was recovered.

Exactly how efficient and capable was she? Everyone said that Alice was dumb, but was this

something that a dumb person could do?
