Chapter 147
Ethan’s Vengeance of Love
Of course, Caleb could only dare to think about those words.
âInvestigate who has been around Alice in the past seven years.â Ethan had never backed down from
such things and only confronted them head-on. âBring Liam and Bradley with you.â
Although he couldnât beat the other man up, he wanted to investigate this matter thoroughly. He could
only start planning once he had all the chips in his hands.
So what if that man was her favorite? So what if he meant a lot to her?
She was Ethanâs wife. Theyâre legally married. Did he, Ethan Knight, ever lose?
There was no way he would lose!
He wanted to see who could snatch his wife from his hands!
âAll right,â Caleb agreed readily. He was surprised when he heard Ethanâs request. Mr. Knight wants to
investigate Miss Woland again?
He even asked him to bring Liam and Bradley along with him.
Caleb had been with Ethan for a long time, and there wasnât ever such a serious incident to dispatch
him, Liam, and Bradley at the same time.
Yet now, Ethan ordered the three of them to investigate Alice?!
At this point, there was no doubt that Ethan wanted them to investigate everyone related to the young
lady from the past eight generations.
Caleb was surprised when he heard Ethanâs additional request.
âInvestigate carefully. Leave no stones unturned.â
The corners of Calebâs lips twitched instinctively. Ethan had arranged for such a specific investigation.
It would be hard for them not to.
Ethan felt that his instruction was still insufficient, so after some thought, he added, âRemember, donât
miss anything out. Go over this with a fine-toothed comb, inform me even if thereâs a male mosquito
buzzing about.â
Ethan was emphasizing every word on purpose.
Caleb was stunned. Ethan had always demanded strictness and care when investigating so there
werenât any mistakes about Alice, which he understood.
However, what could Ethan mean when he emphasized the words âmale mosquitoesâ?
He tilted his head and wondered, Did he mean real mosquitos? Or was it a code word for something?
Maybe he just meant real mosquitos?!
In the room where Alice was, Lydia received a message. She glanced at her phone and smiled coldly.
âAlice, the results are in. There are absolutely no relations at all which means that Charles isnât related
to you at allâ¦â
There wasnât a doubt that Alice was Lucasâ daughter.
It turned out that Charles had no relations with Lucas at all.
Alice and Apollo were still on the phone. When she heard Lydiaâs answer, she narrowed her eyes and
then told Apollo on the other end of the phone, âMy dear, I have to go to Cliaria for a bit. Come back
with me. You can accompany your uncle there.â
The moment Alice got the results, she decided her plans should start now.
Apollo was still young; she didnât want him to get involved.
The members of the Woland Family were sinister, vicious, shameless, and had no moral boundaries.
She didnât want Apollo to be in harmâs way.
âNo, I donât want to go back. If you donât trust me, Iâll go to my father. I was planning to meet him
anyway,â Apollo said, then paused before slowly adding, âIâm already seven years old, and I havenât
even met my father yet. I donât even know what my own father looks like.â
Apolloâs words were sad and pitiful.
Alice told him the results when Keith and Apolloâs test came out. Now Apollo knew that Keith was his
biological father, so he planned to find him.
Apolloâs one sentence completely stopped Alice from continuing to persuade him.
All children long for their fatherâs love, and Apollo was no different. Alice really couldnât say anything to
stop him this time.
If Apollo wanted to look for him, then so be it. With Keith and the Rowlands, Apollo might be better
protected there. It might even be the best arrangement for the situation.
âIâll be going back to Cliaria today, so why donât you accompany me then? When youâre there, Iâll look
for your father with you. Is that okay?â Alice had to deal with the Wolands, and there were some things
to be dealt with in Cliaria.
This time, she wouldnât give the Wolands any chance. She would do anything to make them pay the
price.
Regardless, she was worried about leaving Apollo alone in the country.
She didnât pay any attention to the Wolands, including Charles. It wasnât difficult for her to deal with
them.
Still, Alice now had some suspicions that there were some other people behind the Wolands. They
couldnât be the Yeagers but a family more terrifying than them.
Since even if her father wasnât Charlesâ son, Alice couldnât think of a reason for Charles to kill her father
in cold blood.
It didnât make sense if Charles did all this just to take over the company and shares.
When her father was alive, there wasnât anything missing from the company. If Charles wanted money,
Lucas wouldâve given it to him on a silver platter. If Charles wanted a house, her father wouldnât even
hesitate to give it to him, no questions asked.
As long as Charles requested something, her father would definitely do everything in his power to see it
fulfilled.
It was no less than what Charles had now.
Elijah was useless, and Charles knew that very well. If the company was taken over and handed to
Elijah, the company would be ruined.
In the past seven years, if Alice didnât have the heart to see the company fall to ruin. So, she had
arranged for someone from the Glenn Group to be the shadow director. If they relied entirely on Elijah,
the Glenn Group wouldâve been destroyed in a matter of months.
Charles had never been involved with the Glenn Groupâs affairs in the past seven years. So, it was
clear that he didnât want power.
Both Charles and Elijah hadnât earned a lot these past seven years. Her father definitely raked in more
than they did over the past seven years.
If Charlesâ purpose was only money, there wasnât a reason to want to kill Lucas. It would be better to
make her father work hard and give them the money.
After all, before his death, her father didnât even know he wasnât Charlesâ son.
Alice now felt that Charles killed her father not simply for money but to ensure that he was thoroughly
eliminated.
But what was the motive behind such a decision?
Why did it have to happen seven years ago?
When Alice was very young, she noticed that Charles had never been close to her father. Now that she
thought about it, Charles was probably aware that her father wasnât his son.
If that were the case, why didnât he do anything to Lucas? Why did he choose to kill her parents seven
years ago?
What happened seven years ago?
Lucas was involved in a car accident seven years ago. Alas, after seven years of investigation, there
wasnât any evidence to prove that there was something amiss behind it.
She used to think that Thomas was cunning and hid the evidence carefully. But now that she thought
about it all carefully, the accident wasnât as simple as it seemed. If what happened back then was truly
done by the Wolands and Thomas, they wouldnât have been able to squirrel away the evidence so
successfully.
The only other explanation was that there were outsiders involved in this so-called accident.
