Chapter 10

Sebastian 

Sebastian watches quietly as Anne and Skye work on Skye’s ankle. Eventually, he’s mindlinked and he has to leave. “Skye?” he says softly, “I have to go deal with something.”

Skye looks up at him. “O…okay,” she answers, “S…see you l…later?”

“Y…yeah, I’ll come and find you once I wrap up with business.”

Skye blushes and watches as Sebastian leaves the room. Sebastian heads back to his office, where Kade, his beta, is waiting for him. “Alpha,” Kade states, “rogues have been spotted near our northwest border.”

“This couldn’t have waited until later?” Sebastian asks, sounding annoyed.

“No can do, alpha.”

“As long as the rouges stay off our territory, I don’t care how close they are.”

“Who the hell are you?”

“Your alpha. I’m going to go find Skye. Don’t mindlink me unless there’s an actual problem.” He leaves the room.

Skye

Eventually Skye leaves the therapy room and goes around the hospital looking for Angela. “A…Angela?” Skye calls out softly. She walks around for a while calling out Angela’s name before she finds her.

“Skye?” Angela answers, “What’s wrong? Why are you looking for me?”

“A…Angela!” Skye runs over to her and grabs onto her lab coat.

“Sweetheart, are you okay?”

“T…the A…Alpha had to l…leave.”

“Ah, I suppose you still don’t know your way around too well?”

“Y…yeah.”

“I suppose you can hang out in my office until Sebastian is back. Come with me.” Angela takes Skye’s hand and leads her to an office. “Sit, I’m afraid I’m not able to stay with you.”

“T…that’s okay,” Skye whispers, “T…thank y…you.”

Angela begins to leave. “Sweetheart?” she says, before leaving the room.

“Y…yes?”

“When was the last time you ate?”

“E…erm, b…breakfast?”

Angela sighs. “I’m going to get you something to eat. I’ll be right back.” Angela leaves before Skye can respond. About twenty minutes later, Angela returns and hands Skye a turkey sandwich. “Eat,” she says, “I’ll be back later to check on you, okay?”

Skye unwraps the sandwich and begins to nibble on it. “O…okay,” she whispers.

Sebastian

On the way back to the therapy room, Sebastian runs into Angela. “Oh, Sebastian!” Angela exclaims.

“Angela?” he responds, “What’s going on?”

“Skye is in my office. She came and found me after she and Anne finished.”

“Okay, thank you Angela.” He rushes to Angela’s office, where he finds Skye fall asleep on the couch. He lets out a soft laugh before gently picking her up. “Let’s get you home.”

He carries her out of the hospital and back to his house. Once he arrives at his house, he carries her upstairs and places her on her bed. “Sleep well,” he whispers to her.

Skye

When Skye wakes up again, she’s back in her room. “Alpha?” she calls out.

He comes into the room. “Hey,” he says, “how are you feeling?”

“Tired.”

“Are you hungry?”

“N…no. I a…ate a s…sandwich at the h…hospital.”

“That’s good, but you need to eat every couple of hours.”

“I don’t w…wanna.”

Sebastian sighs. “Would you eat a bowl of applesauce?”

“O…okay.” She gets out of bed and stretches. Her shirt hikes up, revealing her small baby bump.

“Y…you have a baby bump?”

“H…huh?” He points to her stomach. She blushes and pulls her shirt down. She scurries into her closet. She comes out a few minutes later with a different shirt on.

They head downstairs to the dining room. Charlotte is there talking to one of the omegas.

Sebastian quietly asks a different omega to bring some applesauce out for Skye. A few minutes later, the omega returns with a small bowl of applesauce. Sebastian takes it from the omega and sits it on the table. “Sit and eat,” he tells Skye.

Skye reluctantly sits down and begins to nibble at the applesauce. A few seconds after she begins to eat, she suddenly stumbles out of the chair and into the nearest bathroom. She manages to stagger into the bathroom, just in time to throw up into the sink.

A few minutes pass before she comes back into the dining room. “Are you okay? Sebastian asks.

“I t…threw up.”

Sebastian looks worriedly at her. “You threw up?”

She nods. “I…in the s…sink.” She looks away in embarrassment.

His expression softens. “That’s okay, I’ll have one of the omegas clean it.”

Skye lurches forward and throws up again. She covers her face with her hands. “I’m s…sorry.” She begins to cry.

Charlotte comes over. “What’s going on?” she asks.

“She threw up,” Sebastian states, “twice. Once in the bathroom sink and once on the floor.”

“I…I’m s…sorry.”

“It’s okay,” Charlotte reassures her, “Why don’t you go and lay down?”

“O…okay.”

Skye slowly limps out to the living room and lays down on the couch.
