20. Unwanted Encounter

Mahi's POV:

"Come on Mahi, wake up it's already 2 pm in the afternoon!" Nitya's voice rang in my ears and as soon as I registered her words, I woke up with a jump.

"What 2 PM!!" I quickly checked the clock on the nightstand and she was right. Oh good how can I sleep this much but it's not something new though.

"Yea I just woke up and saw the time. Late night movie was a bad idea I guess." She got down from the bad. "I will go and check on Priya and Kirti if they woke up." I nodded and she left the room.

"I should get ready now." My stomach growled, "It's lunch time already, I will eat something after taking a bath." I said to myself and went to the bathroom.

"Wait grandpa and Rohan, did they leave already?" Ah shit they told me they have an early flight why they didn't wake me up!

"They are up and getting ready. Aparna aunty said to come and have lunch. Also Grandpa, Rohan and Jyoti aunty left at 7 in the morning, you should give them a call." Nitya entered the room. Great, I missed meeting them.

"Why Mahi, why are you like this?" I groaned in frustration. She came and sat beside me. "Don't worry you can always go and meet them." I nodded and picked my phone to call them.

She took out clothes for herself from my wardrobe. "You really need to add colors to your wardrobe so today we will transform your closet." She looked at my clothes and made a weird face. She loves colors, her wardrobe is full of bright color clothes. She looks absolutely beautiful in her soft girl outfits.

"Nah I like it this way only!" I said and moved toward her.

"They look super dull Mahi. Kirti said we are going shopping this evening so we will buy clothes for you then. Period." She pointed at the clothes, Aparna aunty said colors look good on me, maybe I should give it a try. Nitya went to get fresh.

She came out after some time and we went downstairs for lunch. Mr Jerk and Ahan were also there with Priya and Kirti. "Good afternoon." Aunty greeted us and we greeted her back.

"It looks like you all had a long night yesterday." Aparna aunty said with a small smile. I hope she didn't mind us sleeping this long.

"Sorry aunty, we were watching a movie and slept late and we didn't wake up at time." I said but kept my eyes down. She must be upset, we should have woken up at time after all it's not my house.

"Arey no need to be sorry beta you all were enjoying. And, waking up late once in a while is not a problem." I looked up at her, she smiled and kept her hand on my head. I returned the smile and she served us the food. She always makes me feel like I am part of her family.

"We are going shopping in the evening bua(Aunt, Father's sister) why don't you join us?" Kirti asked aunty and took the first morsel in her mouth.

"Oh I am so sorry I have an important event to attend this evening so I won't be able to come with you." Hearing that Kirti's smile dropped but aunty noticed that and said "But Kabir can come with you, right Kabir?" No he doesn't need to come with us at all aunty, I said internally.

"Of course he will go and don't worry aunty I will accompany them too." Ahan said instantly, making Kabir turn his head toward him.

"Okay great then you all go and enjoy yourself. I am leaving now if you need anything you can ask Mohan kaka for that." She picked up her bag and left in her car. We all finished our lunch and decided to sit in the living room.

"Ahan bhai you stayed here the whole day?" Kirti asked, savoring on her chocolate pastry.

"Yea I also woke up late as Kabir and I were playing video games till 4:30. You girls were pretty loud, the sound of your laughter could be heard clearly in Kabir's room." Ahan replied and kept on changing channels.

"Oh looks like we disturbed your sleep schedule Mr Mehra." I said to annoy him but he just smiled. How can I forget that nothing affects him.

"No you didn't disturb me at all dolphin." he called me dolphin in front of my friends on purpose and that smirk ugh I just hate it! Everyone looked at me, raising their eyebrows in surprise.

"He just likes teasing me, you know he saw bubbles so.." I gave them a fake laugh waving my hand in the air to dismiss the topic. I will see you later Mr jerk!

"Who is bubbles?" Ahan asked, leaning back on the couch.

"Bubbles is her plush dolphin. She loves it more than anything." Nitya replied, keeping her empty pastry plate down.

"Now shall we all go? It's already 5 pm." Kirti stood up and we all followed.

"I, Nitya and Kirti will go in my car. Kabir, Mahi and Priya can go in one, Okay?" Ahan said and settled in his car. Why does he seem more excited than any of us?

"No Ahan bhai, Girls will be in one car and boys will be in another." That's my girl Kirti! It was our plan in the first place.

"Kirti, Mom instructed us to take care of you all so we will drive and you just sit and enjoy okay." Kabir didn't let any of us say anything and we all settled as Ahan said. I went to sit behind with Priya but of course Mr Jerk has a problem with everything.

"I said I will drive but I am not your driver so come and sit in front that's your seat." Priya nodded and I went to sit in front.

"Such a Jerk." I whispered.

"I heard it." He winked at me, making me roll my eyes. All the way I and Priya kept talking about random stuff. Soon we reached and others were already there including Sameer, Karan and Rishi.

"What are you guys doing here?" I got down from the car along with Priya and Kabir.

"Priya said she is going shopping with you so I came to accompany my girlfriend but these two followed me." Rishi said coming closer and intertwined his hand with Priya.

"Great, we will have extra hands to carry our shopping bags now let's go!" We all girls laughed at Kirti's words and made our way inside the mall.

"Let's start with clothing and then accessories, what's say?" Kirti asked and we all agreed.

"We need to buy a lot of clothes for Mahi today. Her wardrobe only has white, black and blues." Nitya said and the girls started picking clothes for me. On the other hand, boys also decided to go and shop for themselves.

"Try this one Mahi we all will buy different colors in the same design. You know, twining." Priya handed me a red short dress with ruffled sleeves. Having no option I tried it and it perfectly fitted my body. We bought the same dress with different colors.

Nitya brought tons of different color tops for me and her to match. We moved toward the accessories part. The three girls selected everything for me as I don't know what to buy. I can't wear heels so we brought flats for me and shoes.

I was so tired it was already 7:30 and the boys were done with their shopping an hour ago. Now they are carrying our bags and waiting for us to finish so we can go and eat something.

"Baby what is still there to buy, Let's go, I will bring you again for shopping next weekend." Rishi was done for the day it was written all over his face. Sameer was giving weird looks to Ahan. What is wrong with him now?

"Okay we are officially done with shopping, let's go and eat something now." Kirti announced. Thank god this is finally over! Everyone went ahead but Sameer was still behind so I stopped and waited for him.

"What's the matter buddy?" I asked throwing my arm around his neck as he always does to me.

"Tell me one thing Jam what is up with this Ahan Bhatt." He asked and he seemed a little pissed off.

"Why? What did he do?" I asked as we walked.

"He is around Nitya the whole time we came for shopping." He kept his voice low so they could not hear but I can see he is angry.

"So what? He is not a bad person. I know that much." I assured him. He might fight with her the whole time but he does care for her.

"I don't care if he is a good person or not. Nitya should not get too close to him." Wait, is he jealous? Nah that can't happen at least not in this life.

"Why do you care this much? If they like each other I don't see a problem there." I deliberately said those words to know his reaction. He turned toward me, his eyes held something else than what they usually have when we talk about Nitya.

"She doesn't like him" He said and again turned his gaze toward her.

"And how can you be so sure?" I asked.

"I just know." He said and started walking fast toward Nitya and Ahan. Something is not right here, have to find out. We all entered a small restaurant which was in the mall itself. My eyes widened when I saw a certain person in front of us..

I grabbed Sameer's hand and made him look at the person. His eyes filled with anger when he noticed that person, his fingers curled into a fist, he was about to walk to that person but I grabbed his arm to stop him. "Now is not the right time." I said and he understood but he never moved his gaze away from that person.

"Why don't we go somewhere else to eat? I know a very good restaurant nearby." I said and everyone turned toward me. We need to get out of here as soon as possible.

"This is also a very good restaurant even though it's small, the food here is delicious." Kirti said. I can't make them understand this now but we need to go before he notices us.

"Oh my god look who is here." A voice came and we all looked at that person. Shit!

"Hey Nitya, how are you? It's been a long time." Pranav came closer and how I didn't notice that witch Sneha with him.

"Indeed it's been a long time Pranav." Sameer said gritting his teeth, he is trying to control his anger because I was still holding his hand.

"Oh Sameer Looks like puri paltan hi yaha hai." He had that sweet yet poisonous smile on his face.

"Why are you back here when you ran away 2 years ago." Karan said he was also angry. I just hope they don't do anything reckless. I don't mind punching this bastard 100 times but right now Nitya is more important. I looked at her, she didn't say anything and kept her face straight with no emotions visible.

"I need to come back for my wedding. Oh sorry I forgot to tell you all. Sneha and I are getting married next week. You all should come too." He said with the same shameless smile and I really just want to break his jaw.

"I am sorry Nitya you must be hurt hearing the news of your first love getting married right but don't worry dear you will find someone for yourself." The witch started to speak and I was about to shut her up but Nitya beat me to it.

"Oh Congratulations Sneha and Pranav after all you both deserve each other. The cheaters should be together so others could be saved. I wish you both all the happiness but you know log adaton se majboor hote hai so I hope tum dono ki shadi lambi chale warna Kahin aisa na ho dusro ko cheat karte karte ek dusre pr hi cheat kar do tum dono." Nitya said with confidence and the look on both of their faces was worth a million dollars.

(You know what people are slave to their habits so I hope your marriage lasts long or else the people who cheat others might end up cheating on each other.)

"You-" witch was about to speak but I cut her off saying "Mubarak ho tum dono ko, do cheaters ki jodi khoob jamegi bas apne baccho ko apne jesa na bana dena." I mocked them with a sweet smile.

(Congratulations to both of you. Two cheaters together makes a perfect couple but be careful don't turn your children into cheaters just like you two)

"We all shall go now looking at these two, I am no longer hungry now." Rishi said in his as usual dramatic tone and we all laughed making the couple burn in rage. We all left the place and I engulfed Nitya in a tight hug. She had no expression on her face. Her smile was long gone. I just don't want her to go back to how she was 2 years back.

"I will stay with you tonight, okay?" I pulled back, her eyes were hollow. It felt like someone sucked all the energy out from her.

"I am okay Mahi I am no more like the fragile self I used to be. You go back home we will meet tomorrow I promise." I didn't want to leave her alone when I knew she was not okay. It's been 2 years but the incident still hurts her.

I want to be with her just like she used to be with me when I wanted to cry and scream. She is the girl I want to protect and see happy because she is worth it. She deserves all the love she gives people around her.

"But-" I opened my mouth to say something but she didn't let me finish and said she is okay and needs some time alone.

"I will go now, good night everyone and thank you so much for today I really enjoyed." She wished everyone and was about to leave when Sameer grabbed her hand.

"What is this?" She tried to get out of his grip but he was not letting her go. What the hell is wrong with him now?

"Sameer leave her!" I grabbed his arm but he still didn't budge.

"I will drop her, don't worry it's late, she can't go alone." with that he left with her, leaving us all behind.

"I don't know if I should ask this or not but what is happening?" This was Ahan who asked this.

"First we all should go and eat something. Everyone must be hungry and don't worry about Nitya. Sameer is with her and he will drop her safely. She needs some time." Everyone agreed and we all went to the nearby restaurant to have dinner. I didn't eat much, I was still worried about her but I know she wants to be alone so I will let this night go.

Rishi, Priya and I explained everything to them and after hearing the whole story Kirti and Ahan were very angry. Ahan said if he knew it before, he would have broken his jaw at that very moment.

"Don't worry much, she will be alright." Kabir said, keeping his hand on mine, assuring me. I smiled back and soon we all decided to go back. I will go meet her tomorrow morning.
