25. A Nightmare

Thank you so much everyone for your wishes, support, understanding and also your patience for the past 1 week.

I know everyone wanted an update and as I said I will post on Tuesday so here it is! Yes I am back again with your beloved Kabir and Mahi.

Thank you once again. I love you all!! <3

Kabir's POV:

I woke up in the middle of night to have some water but the bottle was empty. I got down from my bed and left my room to fill my bottle. I heard some faint voices from Mahi's room.

My mind started thinking the unwanted things. I rushed toward her room and opened the door. Her eyes were closed but the tears were flowing from them. She was frowning in her sleep and her forehead had small beads of sweat.

She was mumbling something but I could not make sense out of it. I rushed toward her and sat beside her. "Mahi!" I called out her name to wake her up, she must be having a nightmare.

I called her name multiple times. The terror grabbed my heart, today was already stressing for her this can't be happening now. "Please Mahi open your eyes. Look, I am here." I again called for her but my voice cracked looking at her like this.

She opened her eyes with a jerk and looked at me with wide eyes. She suddenly hugged me and I could hear her muffled sobs. "Hush nothing happened, it was just a nightmare. Please stop crying." I slowly stroked her hair to calm her down and it somewhat helped.

We stayed like that for sometime as I wanted to calm her down first. She slowly pulled back and our eyes met. She stopped crying but the tears were still there on her cheeks.

"See, it was just a nightmare. Nothing changed, you are okay. I am here." I wiped her tears with my thumb pad. I took the glass from the night stand and made her drink some water.

"I was so scared. I was stuck in that room again and nobody came to save me. I thought I might die there." A lone tear escaped from her eyes and I felt my heart stinging. She was so scared and I was helpless.

"I am sorry Mahi. I could not come early to you. If only I could have arrived a little early you wouldn't have faced all that. It's my fault, I know that." My eyes dropped as I could not meet her gaze. Mom told me to take care of her and I failed.

"Look at me Kabir." She grabbed my hand and I looked up. "It was not your fault at all. I had this childhood trauma. This was not the first time something like this happened." I could feel the pain in her voice.

"I was 5 years old then. Everyone went out and left me with my nanny. I was playing in my room, and suddenly the lights went off. I got scared and tried to open the door but it was locked. I shouted, cried for help but no one came."

"An hour passed and the lights came back. I again started to bang on the doors and mom opened it. The nanny fell asleep in the living room and could not hear my screams. From that day onwards I am scared to be alone in a room. Today when that thing happened it reminded me of that day." She barely controlled her tears and the only thing I could think of was, how a small child could have felt being trapped there.

"I promise Mahi that I won't let something like this happen to you again. Ever." I wiped her tears. This was the first time I felt this helpless in my entire life.

She was hurting and scared and I could not do anything, but I promise I would never let her get hurt again by anyone. I would die before breaking this promise, no one can hurt the girl I love and if they dared the consequences will be damn ugly.

"Come, You should sleep now." I covered her from the duvet.

"Can you please stay here with me?" She asked in a low voice.

"I can't even think of leaving you alone in this state, dolphin. I am not going anywhere, I will always be beside you. Whenever you want me. Wherever you want me." I pecked her forehead and she closed her eyes. I sat beside her and don't know when I drifted off to sleep.

Mahi's POV:

I slowly opened my eyes as the sun rays fell on my face. I tried to bring my hand to rub my eyes but someone was holding me.

I looked at the other side and my fingers were entangled with his. I looked up, his head was resting on the head rest of the bed.

The light sun rays fall on his face, making it glow even more. His face had a peaceful look like a baby is sleeping without any worries in the world.

The long lashes were touching his cheekbones, his black thick hair was a little messy and few hair strands fell on his forehead. The perfect sharp jawline and a light beard were making him look like a model.

The smooth pink lips parted a little. How can a person look this beautiful while sleeping? He opened his eyes and our eyes met.

I quickly backed off when I realized how close I was to him but he grabbed my wrist and pulled me toward him.

My hands landed on his chest and my heart started thumping loudly. I just hope he can not hear my heartbeat. "If you want to admire me then you should do it closely, dolphin." A small smirk formed on his lips and I looked away.

"Whatever! I am hungry." I got out of bed and went straight to the bathroom. My heart was ringing in my ears loudly. I slowly patted on my chest to calm my damn heart down.

He was there to comfort me the whole night, he even stayed when I asked him to. No one knows about that incident besides my family and Nitya but yesterday I felt like I can tell him about it.

He patiently listens to me, these days he is not that intimidating. I feel at ease around him. He is a little likeable.

I took a long shower to relax my mind and body and it was refreshing. I got out of the bathroom and he was not in the room. "Thank god he left" I sighed and started to get ready. Aparna aunty is not here, our recording is tomorrow and today I have nothing to do.

Mahi's outfit

I can hang out with my friends today. I picked up the phone to call Nitya. "Hey beautiful! How are you and what are you doing today?" I said as soon as she picked up the call. I decided to not tell anyone about what happened yesterday.

"I am great. Preparing for today. It's mom's close friend's birthday so we have to go in the evening and she told me to pack all the gifts by myself." She is good at creative things. No doubt aunty gave her this task.

"Oh a busy day it is." I won't ask her to spend time with me or else she would leave everything and come to me and I don't want that.

"Yea what about you? Wanna come with me to the party?" She always asks me to come with her. These parties are boring for her.

"Nah You go and enjoy it!"

"You know I don't want to go but I have no other option." A defeated sigh was heard and I chuckled.

"Okay you carry on bye!" I hung up the call and decided to go downstairs. The breakfast was already on the table. Kabir came out of the kitchen with two plates in his hand and placed them on the table.

"What is that?" I asked, looking at him.

"You said you were hungry so I prepared breakfast for you." He gestured me to take my seat and I did. I was hungry but this is not what I meant. Well he made this for me then why I would deny.

"I made Italian breakfast today. Tell me if you don't like it I will cook something else." He took his seat beside me. Everything looked delicious, how I can not like it.

"Here, try this one first. It's called Frittata." He forwarded the plate, that thing looked like an omelet cake. I took the first bite and it was super duper delicious. Its creamy texture with veggies was great.

"It's damn good." A beautiful smile made its way on his lips as I said those words and if I say, that kind of smile from him is rare I mean it. I stopped to look at him, how his eyes shined and lips curled upward. I have never seen him like this, he seems.....happy.

"And here, its Tiramisu." He handed me a small plate. I love coffee and this coffee flavored dessert is my forever favorite. I took a bite and it melted in my mouth. The coffee and vanilla aroma was mesmerizing.

I closed my eyes to savor the taste. I remembered, I didn't offer him a bite so I kept the spoonful near his mouth. He looked at me for a second but ate it and the smirk was back.

"What?" I asked but he shrugged his shoulders and I just decided to ignore him. I took another bite and suddenly it striked me that I offered him from the same spoon I used. I snapped my neck toward him but he just kept smiling.

He is a jerk and that will never change. He stood up after he was done with breakfast. "Let's go." He stood up from his seat and grabbed his keys. He was not in his formal clothes today.

Kabir's outfit

"Where?" I whipped my mouth from the tissue and stood up.

"We are going out today. Seems like your friends are busy and you must be getting bored so let me keep you company."

"How do you know that they are busy?" He knows I will feel bored.

"I just know it let's go. I have some work at agency, it will only take a few minutes then we can go okay?" I nodded and we left in his car. We reached the agency and he went to do his work while I waited for him.

He came after sometime as he said. "But what is the place we are going to anyway?" We both settled in his car and he started driving.

"It will take us around 1-2 hours to reach there so you can relax if you want and yea you will know where we are going soon." He kept his eyes on the road but didn't answer my question. I played some music and didn't know when I nodded off.

My phone started to ring and I opened my eyes. The car was not moving. I looked at Kabir and he was looking at me. "We reached? Why didn't you wake me up?" I asked, straightening myself on the seat.

"You were sleeping soundlessly so I didn't. Plus you were looking at me when I was sleeping so I did the same." He really has some serious problems.

"Let's go, we are here." He got down from the car and so did I. This seems like the outskirts of the city. There was a beautiful farm house and the greenery was everywhere. The cool breeze felt so refreshing, the weather was perfect today.

"Let's go inside." We both moved inside and I saw everyone there. All of my friends were present there.

"What is going on?" I asked him and he just smiled in return.

"Yesterday was not so great so I thought this might help you. You might get bored at home so I invited them here." He said and I can't believe this man, he never fails to amaze me. He did all this for me but why?

"Also don't worry I didn't say anything to them about yesterday. I know you don't want to bother them."

"Hey you guys are late." Ahan came toward us and gave Kabir a side hug. Everyone followed him.

"Someone was sleeping so..." He looked at me and everyone laughed.

"Come on guys, today is our fun day. Let the fun begin!" Ahan loudly announced and everyone cheered. Looks like everyone is going to have a lot of fun today.

I looked toward Kabir and he was already looking at me. "Thank you for this." I smiled and he returned the same smile.

The only thing I know is I can trust him when he said he will not let me get hurt. This all makes me want to stay close to him and know him more.
