Chapter 27: Living Our Best Life
A Journey Together
It had been a few years since we'd adopted Zoey and Elijah, and life had become this beautiful mix of chaos and joy. We had routinesâmornings full of breakfast battles and late nights filled with the sounds of stories and giggles. But what stood out the most was how full my heart had become.
One afternoon, we took the kids to the beach. They were both running ahead, excited to dig in the sand, while Isaiah and I trailed behind, holding hands. We'd been through so much, but now, as we watched our kids building sandcastles, I realized that everything we'd been through had led to this. A family. A real family.
Zoey looked over at us, her hands covered in sand, and smiled brightly. "Daddy, come see!" she shouted.
I looked over at Isaiah, a grin forming on my face. "Guess we better go check it out."
Together, we ran over to join them, laughing all the way. The sound of their laughter, the sight of them so carefree, filled my heart with a kind of peace I had never known. And I realized then that no matter what life threw our way, we would face it together. As a family.
We spent the whole afternoon at the beach, playing, laughing, and just enjoying the moment. It was the best kind of day. The kind of day that makes you feel like everything is right in the world.
And I couldn't ask for anything more.
