Chapter 446
Daddy, Mommy had been in Prison
âThereâs nobody in this world whoâs more professional than Vincent Poole. Hasnât Robert already asked him back? Let him check Wesley over first, then we can act on it. I feel like other people canât match his experience at all. I looked into his reputation and he basically sits at the top of his line of work. If we get him, other experts would just look like infants. Thereâs no need to get anyone else.â
âRobert, you told me that heâs coming back to D City in the afternoon. When is he going to look at Wesley? Howâs his personality? Is he going to give us trouble?â
âHeâs a mysterious fellow. Sometimes, money alone isnât enough to get him here. Iâd been ready for a lot of difficulty in asking him here, but I didnât think heâd agree so readily. Iâm going to pick him up in person this afternoon. Iâll only be able to judge what he needs when I see him, and see if heâs willing to help.â
Georgia shot a look at her phone reflexively. It was past three in the afternoon. She turned back to Robert, urging him.
âItâs almost two hours from the house to the airport. Youâre still home. Arenât you going to the airport to get Vincent here?â
âIâll set off in half an hour. His flightâs delayed, and heâll only arrive at around eight or so. Iâm not sure how long weâll be talking for, Georgia. No need to wait for me tonight. If thereâs any news, Iâll notify you right away. If Iâm not back late at night, rest first.â
Georgia cold only nod.
After that, they chatted with Ivan about Wesley for a while longer, then Robert left.
Ivan sat on the car coming to pick him up and went back to his own place.
After that, the kids were still napping. Georgia gave Carr a call.
âWhy the sudden call, Georgia? Are you out of hospital yet? Has your body recovered?â
Carrâs voice was gentle, and Georgia called him uncle this time.
âI was discharged this morning, Uncle Carr. My bodyâs recovering just fine right now. I wanted to ask you when youâre going back overseas.â
âI have a think tank to attend in two weeks, and the timeâs set. Weâre going back in two weeks at the latest. What is it? Do you need my help for something?â
âDidnât you say you wanted to have a meal with us, Uncle Carr? I wanted to set the time. When are you free? We can come over in person, and you can visit our home too. I just wanted to see which option was easier for you, and I can arrange it.â
âIâm living with your Aunt Laurie in a hotel right now. Astonâs living in his house alone. He doesnât like having us parents with him. Weâre in a hotel around where he lives. We can come over to your place. Itâs not convenient to leave with children, so we can make the trip.â
Georgia agreed, and Carr continued.
âAs for the time, Iâve got several talks to go to tomorrow and the day after, and I need to go to some schools to give speeches to the students. Are you free in three days? I can come over with your Aunt Laurie that day.â
Georgia acquiesced right away. She really wanted to confirm if Wesleyâs headache had anything to do with Astonâs parents.
But that was just speculation, and she couldnât say it out loud in case the old couple thought theyâd hurt the kid.
Besides, it wasnât a solid reason anyway, and it was complicated to explain, so Georgia didnât tell them about it.
After hanging up, Georgia thought about it in silence, then received another phone call.
This time, she saw the number. It was Aston.
Georgia found it strange. The moment she picked up, Astonâs voice rang out.
âI thought about it all night. You were right yesterday. I was too childish. Curling up like a porcupine just because Iâm feeling down, raising my spikes to the whole world. Thatâs my problem. Iâm sorry.â
Aston actually apologized to her actively. Georgia found it a little unbelievable.
But she didnât mind it too much anyway, and chuckled.
âI accept your apology. What are you going to do now?â
âIâve gone back to work today already. Back then, I had a few doubts when I was experimenting, and you never came in to work. I wanted to talk with you about it, but it looks like youâre still busy. I still want to get your opinion on these matters, so I arranged them and sent them to your mailbox. If you have an opportunity, take a look. I hope youâll talk with me about it if you have any thoughts, or if you know the root causes.â
âAll right. Iâll check my email later.â
After that, Georgia went on.
âSince youâre back at work, I hope you donât tire yourself out so much you have to go to hospital, Aston. Youâre an adult now. Looking after your own body should be the first thing you learn.â
As Georgia said that, Aston chuckled gratefully over the phone.
âAfter I left the hospital yesterday, I saw my mother shed a tear in silence. Iâve always gone my own way, and wasted everyoneâs concern for me. But still, Georgia, I hope youâll come back to work soon. Some things canât be picked back up if you leave them for too long. I donât want you to waste your time on something meaningless, even if I donât know what youâre busy with right now.â
âIâve got it. Thank you for your concern.â
As the two sides hung up, Georgia went to the office room and downloaded the documents Aston had sent her.
Those problems were both new and interesting to Georgia. She looked over the documents and information and constructed her own data models on her computer.
Aston was right about one thing. Some things couldnât be left to waste away. Otherwise, her path as a scientist was over.
As for Robertâs current situation, it actually had a lot to do with the direction of her research. She needed to put more effort in instead of giving up halfway.
After working for over an hour, the kids woke up.
Georgia was busy with her own experimental data and writing out her own thoughts, so she had the butler and the servants take the kids out to play in the playroom themselves. Georgia didnât go with them this time.
She worked all through the night and only went down when it was time to eat, then stayed with the kids and had dinner.
âDoes your head hurt today, Wesley?â
As she ate, Georgia asked Wesley concernedly.
She was worried that Wesley would get a splitting headache like yesterday. Sheâd been busy with her own work all afternoon, and couldnât help but ask Wesley if anything else abnormal had occurred.
âOther than yesterday, Auntie Georgia, my head hasnât hurt at all. Iâll be fine.â
Georgia relaxed and spent half an hour in the garden playing with the children.
After that, she went back to the office room and began her own research.
Daddy, Mommy had been in Prison ï¤Chapter 445 Returning Home The Unexpected Marriage ï¤Chapter 251 What's The Use Of You Have I Told You Lately ï¤Chapter 147 It must Feel Good to Have Him Drive Me to Work A lot of people had presented their opinions on the problems Aston mentioned, and their experiments had turned up conclusions as well. Georgia was summarizing them all.
She took out her old notebook and the secret data sheâd stored herself, poring over them.
It took almost the entire night for Georgia to send her arranged answers and her own views to Astonâs mailbox.
After that, the kids had already been sleeping for a while.
Georgia looked at the time. It was past nine. Robert still wasnât back. She couldnât help but want to call Robert and ask him about how he was doing, but Robert had said not to wait for him.
Besides, he was seeing that Vincent Poole fellow today. If the two were talking, calling them would interfere with things. Georgia held back her urges.
She showered and laid in bed, then called Wilson.
