Chapter 106
Mr. Sallow's Sinful Wife by Maisie Chasey
Chapter 106 Interrogating Nancy âDad, now that youâve entrusted these things to me, can I understand it as having the freedom to handle them as I see fit?â
Nancy asked seriously.
Albert nodded solemnly, saying, âYes, you have the freedom.â
This assurance put her mind at ease. She asked, âHas Nicholas seen these photos, Dad?â
âNo,â he replied.
âWell, since he hasnât seen them, I hope he never will,â she declared. With those words, she took a corner of one of the photos in her hand and, with the other hand, squeezed another corner. In a swift motion, the photo was torn in half.
âAre you sure about this, Nancy? These photos might be our only bargaining chip for you. Are you truly ready to destroy them?â
Thank you for your concern, Dad. Iâve thought it through.â Nancy tore up the rest of the photos, shredding them into tiny pieces.
Once all the photos lay in ruins, she looked up at Albert and said. âDad, I appreciate your and Momâs sincere intentions, but I donât want to bind my marriage to Nicholas with such a heart-wrenching method. If thereâs love between us, I wonât need this. If there isnât, even using this to keep him by my side would be meaningless.â She added, âA loveless marriage is like stagnant water. If the day comes when we truly part ways, that would be the best ending.â
Albert could empathize with her words, understanding the pain of a loveless marriage, particularly the one he had with Sarah. He stated, âVery well, I wonât insist. I hope you two can get. along well.
âDonât worry, Dad. Iâll do my best.â
While leaving. Nancy ran into Alice.
Alice was much more docile this time than before, refraining from her usual sarcasm and mockery. Nancy speculated that Alice and her mother would struggle without the Sallowsâ support. Otherwise, she wouldnât be this polite, even initiating a greeting.
Indeed, Nancyâs guess was accurate. Alice had come to the Sallows hoping that Albert, considering their blood ties, would offer her and her mother some financial assistance. Their recent days had been marked by financial hardship, especially after they had depleted their remaining funds.
However, Aliceâs plea was rejected. As she left Albertâs study, her bitterness was evident. She uttered, âItâs you, Nancy! Itâs all because of you! Iâd still be the highly respected Ms. Sallow if it werenât for you. Itâs all your fault! Iâm going to make you suffer, too.â
Just then, a household staff dumped the trash she had cleared from the study.
1/3 Alice glanced at the pile, but her eyes widened, thinking, Isnât that Madelline?Thatâs strange. Why would her pictures be here?
She looked around once the household staff left before picking up the torn photos.
Then, she snuck out of the house like a thief. When she returned home and pieced the scraps together, she was shocked by what she saw. She immediately dialed Madellineâs number.
âMadelline, I have several photos of you from when you were abroad.â
âWhat? From my time abroad?â Madellineâs response was immediate. She had a deep desire to conceal her life abroad, as it was a shadow she desperately wished to avoid. Then, she demanded, âShow me.â
âSure, Iâll send them to you on WhatsApp.â
After viewing the photos on WhatsApp, Madellineâs mind began to race, and her emotions went haywire. She could not help but ponder, Nancy! How did she get these photos?! How dare she claim sheâs not trying to snatch Nicholas away from me? She mustâve started planning this years ago! She couldnât have gotten the photos otherwise. This revelation shattered Madellineâs understanding of Nancy. She couldnât believe a seemingly gentle and frail woman could be this vicious. She thought, I see how it is, Nancy. Since you started it, donât blame me for not showing any mercy.
âAlice, are you still on my side?â Madelline asked..
âOf course, Madelline. Otherwise, I wouldnât have sent you these photos.â
âGood, now do as I say. Share these photos with the media. Let it all be exposed.â
Alice couldnât believe what she just heard.
Madellineâs audacious plan took Alice aback. âWhat? Madelline, have you lost your mind? If the media finds out, it wonât be long before Nicholas knows. Can you still be together after that?â
âI want him to know, Alice. Thereâs a saying-pushed to the brink, one survives. I have no other options. This is my only chance.â
âAre you sure, Madelline?â Alice was still hesitant.
âYes, share them right away,â Madelline insisted. Her eyes were determined and fierce. âYou can trust me; this time, Iâll have Nicholas come and get me personally.â She added, âNancy wants to tarnish my reputation, right? This time, Iâll make sure she loses him for good.â
With Madellineâs unshakable confidence, Alice felt emboldened. âAlright. Iâm on it.â
After leaving Sallow Residence, Nancy returned home. She was now over three months pregnant. Lately, she had been sleeping more, and after having lunch, she decided to rest. However, her sleep was restless. She had recurring nightmares, feeling pursued by a terrifying presence. She was petrified and kept running in her dreams. Suddenly, a loud noise at the door jolted her 2/3 awake.
When she saw that Nicholas had returned, she greeted him with a smile and got up from her nap. However, as she approached, the expression on his face made her freeze. He exuded an intimidating and chilling aura, his entire being shrouded in a chilling atmosphere. His brows were furrowed, and his lips were tightly sealed as he stood silently. Without uttering a word, he radiated a menacing presence.
âWhatâs the matter, Nick?â Nancy asked.
Nicholasâ ice-cold gaze remained fixed on her, and he continued to say nothing, âIs the company in trouble? Come on, say something! Donât scare me.â She reached out to take his hand. However, as their hands were about to meet, he forcefully swatted her hand away, causing her to stumble backward. She looked at him, her confusion evident, and said, âNick...â
He remained unresponsive, his demeanor unyielding.
In a gentle tone, she said, âDonât scare me, darling. Whatâs wrong?â
He finally spoke, saying. âEverythingâs fine with me. Just as she was about to exhale in relief, he added, âBut Madellineâs not doing too well. She nearly died.â
âWhat? What happened?â
While Nancy spoke, Nicholas reached out and grabbed her arm. With an accusatory tone, he questioned, âDo you dare to claim that you didnât anticipate this?â
âWhat do you mean by that? Why would I know whatâs going on with Madelline?â
