Chapter 164
Mr. Sallow's Sinful Wife by Maisie Chasey
Chapter 164 Jealous Nancy turned around, forcing a smile as she asked, âIs there anything else you need, maâam?â
âI noticed that you looked familiar. Whatâs your name?â the woman asked in an elegant tone.
âMom?â Julian spoke up, sounding a bit impatient.
The woman shot him a sharp look, and he immediately fell silent, refraining from saying anything else.
âMy name is Nancy Cohen, maâam.â
What a coincidence. The womanâs eyes instantly lit up with excitement. However, she still made an effort to contain herself, patiently asking, âCould you please tell me how to spell your name?â
âNancy, N-A-N-C-Y. Cohen, C-O-H-E-N.â
It matches perfectly. It seems like she is indeed that child. Well, this is quite fortunate, and it didnât take much effort at all. The woman was somewhat excited but managed to suppress it.
Once Nancy left, the woman immediately turned to Julian. âThis young lady looks good. Sheâs also from your hospital, so you should put in some effort.â
âMom, do you hear yourself? We donât even know each other.â
The woman gave him a disdainful look. âDonât you know each other now? She just mentioned that her name is Nancy, and she is a new employee at your hospital. Youâre the director. Pursuing an employee should be easy for you. It will be effortless.â
Julian was growing annoyed. âThis discussion ends here. Youâre going crazy thinking about having a daughter-in-law.â
Still, the woman stubbornly argued, âNo, Iâve decided I want Nancy to be my daughter-in-law. I wonât accept anyone else.â
Julian was left speechless. After a heated argument, he ended up leaving first, leaving the woman sitting alone.
She looked towards Nancyâs direction and took out her phone to snap a photo, then sent it to someone. After that, she made a call. âIâve found the girl. Compare the picture and see if itâs her. Also, find out who the man next to her is. Investigate both of them for me. Remember, be quick. This is very important; we canât afford any delays.â
âYes, Madam.â
Outside the hospital, Nicholas hadnât left. He had been waiting since Nancy and Christian had entered. the building. As minutes passed, Nicholas couldnât help but glance at his watch, growing increasingly restless. He wondered, What are they doing?
Theyâve been there for so long and still havenât come out.
After waiting for about half an hour, he couldnât take it anymore. He had run out of patience and strode inside, but just as he reached the hospital entrance, he saw Nancy and Christian walking towards 1/3 him. They seemed to be chatting and laughing about something. Nicholasâ discomfort grew as he watched them.
Seeing that they were about to reach the entrance, he quickly went out again. Once they reached the entrance, Nicholas retrieved his phone to call Nancy. âHey, itâs me.â
âI know. Do you need something?â Her voice was very calm.
He was not one to back down, so he immediately said in a haughty tone, âNot really. I just happened to be at the hospital and thought you might be finishing work soon. I wanted to ask if you wanted a ride back.â
âThank you for your kind offer, Mr. Sallow, but it seems weâre not going the same way. Besides, weâre not heading to the same home.â
âI can- Nicholasâ words were cut off as Nancy hung up. As he heard the beep on the other end of the line, frustration welled up inside him, and his fists clenched tightly. But what was even more agonizing was the sight of Nancy getting into Christianâs Jeep just moments later.
Instantly, Nicholasâ eyes turned crimson, and he clenched his fists even tighter. Very well. She says sheâs not on the same route as me, but is she on the same route as Christian? As far as he knew, Christianâs current. location was even farther from Nancyâs and even less convenient for him to send her back.
In the car, she quietly gazed out the window. Her expression was calm, showing no signs of emotional fluctuation. However, she had become silent since receiving Nicholasâ call, which showed she was clearly affected by it.
âDid you have a fight with him?â Christian spoke up while waiting at the red light.
âHuh?â Nancy was momentarily taken aback. Then, she realized that, aside from the people around her, others probably didnât know that she had divorced Nicholas. Thinking about it, she thought there was no need to explain anything.
âDonât worry too much. There are bound to be disagreements between spouses. Once the conflicts are resolved, things will naturally improve, Christian comforted her.
Nancy looked over. When she saw his perfectly chiseled features, she couldnât help but sigh. Deep inside, she thought of something and said it aloud, âIf you were to get married, you would surely wholeheartedly devote yourself to your wife. I can imagine that your wife would be very happy.â
Christian smiled but didnât say anything.
While passing the traffic light, Nancy pointed and said, âTurn left.â
He asked, surprised, âDid you move?â
Embarrassed to say she had moved out alone while Nicholas stayed at their original home, she only managed to let out a soft hum.
When they arrived downstairs, Nancy got out of the car. However, a Jeep had a higher chassis, which caused her to twist her foot, when she got down accidentally. âAhhââ she yelped.
Christian immediately rushed over from the driverâs seat and supported her. He asked with concern, 2/3 âAre you okay?â
âI think I twisted my foot. It hurts a bit, she said, her delicate brows slightly furrowed.
âDonât move. Let me carry you back.â
Hearing the word âcarry,â Nancy was a little frightened and immediately shook her head, declining, âNo, itâs fine. I can manage. I just need to walk slower.â
He also realized that his words werenât quite appropriate and quickly changed the topic. âIll call your husband to come pick you up, or I can help you go upstairs.â
After considering it, Nancy compromised, âAlright, help me get upstairs.â
âOkay.â
Nicholas had just gotten out of the car and saw Christian supporting Nancy as they slowly made their way inside. Despite their mutual support, it appeared as if Christian was shouldering most of her weight, practically carrying her along.
This is ridiculous! Nicholas had been following her since he got off work, which was getting increasingly frustrating. He got out and leaned against the car after seeing they had gone upstairs. He smoked aimlessly, one cigarette after another, purely just to pass the time.
After an unknown period of time sibly another half an hour, he caught sight of a familiar figure-
Christian was departing.
Once Christianâs car had disappeared, Nicholas discarded his cigarette butt and dialed Nancyâs number, but his tone was very direct, âAre you at home?â
âYes. Her response was as concise as possible.
âThen come downstairs. I have something to tell you,â he stated.
âI decline.â
âWhy? Why can you see Christian but not me? I saw you with him, and you appeared quite content.â Nicholas felt envious as he spoke.
âCan you be more reasonable? I sprained my ankle and am unable to move. How do you expect me to descend the stairs to see you?â
