Chapter 16
Mr. Sallow's Sinful Wife by Maisie Chasey
Chapter 16 Nancy, You Were Jealous Nancy stumbled, turned around, and ran away quickly.
She didnât dare to look at the rest of the scenes.
She would have never opened that door if she could regret what she had just done.
Nicholas, do you know how cruel you are?â Nancy leaned against the wall, breathing heavily.
Her heart ached, and she had no choice but to endure it.
It would be as if numbing the heart would stop hurting.
Suddenly, her stomach churned, and Nancy rushed to the bathroom, throwing up violently.
In the end, Nancy had vomited everything from her breakfast. By the time she finished, nothing was left in her stomach but bitter bile.
Nancy couldnât remember how long she had been vomiting, but she found herself hunched over the sink. Her black hair was messy on her face, her face was so pale, and she looked utterly disheveled.
At that moment, a knocking came from outside the door, âNancy, open the door.â
It was Nicholasâ voice.
He had followed her.
They had already kissed, so why was he still following her? Was he going to hurt her even more?
Nancy leaned against the door, her tired body slid down, and she didnât want to respond. She tried to pretend she hadnât heard anything.
But Nicholasâ voice grew firmer, âI know youâre in there. Iâll give you three minutes. If you donât open the door, Iâll break it down.â
In the end, Nancy was frightened by this threat. She stood up in the last few seconds and turned the door lock.
âWhy did you lock yourself in?â Nicholas frowned as he looked at her messy hair.
Iâm not in a good mood!â she replied.
At this point, there wasnât anything worth hiding.
Just because she hugged mer 1/4 âJust a hug?â Nancy raised her eyelids, looking at him coldly. âI saw you kissed her. Are you going to tell me something is wrong with my eyes, or are you two just in the wrong position?â
Who would believe such a clumsy lie?
She wasnât a three-year-old child anymore.
âAre you jealous?â Nicholas gazed at her eyes deeply-
Nancy had been trying to hold back, but she suddenly felt overwhelmed by his question.
She stepped forward, put her head on Nicholasâ chest, and used her delicate fingers to poke his chest playfully. In a heart-
wrenchingly soft voice, she said, âNicholas, you canât treat me like this.â
âI know you want a divorce from me, but we havenât divorced yet. Iâm still your wife, and you should remember your identity.â
Indeed, she was mad.
It seemed jealousy was a natural trait for women.
Even if the person she loved wasnât him.
âDonât you not love me? Why are you jealous?â Suddenly, Nicholas asked.
Nancy was furious. She reached out and grabbed his tie, her expression resembling that of an angry little wildcat, âSo, according to you, since you donât love me, I can go out and have some fun and find a bunch of young and handsome guys. After all, you donât care, right?â
âDonât you dare!â
Nicholas was instantly infuriated, gritting his teeth, âRemember your identity, Nancy, we havenât divorced.â
âYou should remember your identity too. If you keep getting close to Madelline like this, Iâll go to nightclubs and find some young and handsome guys,â Nancy answered confidently.
âWhat are young and handsome guys?â Nicholas frowned.
Nancy pouted, âWell, theyâre not like âWhat kind of person am I then?â
you.â
âYou!â Nancy looked at him. Her heart skipped a beat, but she quickly put the panic away and said, âYou are the level of an uncle, and compared to them, you have no market competitionâ
âRepeat it!â Nicholas was a bit angry. He pinched Nancyâs car with one hand.
2/4 Nancyâs ears were sensitive, and being pinched like that made her heart skip a beat, and her ears turned red instantly.
She licked her lips and said, âYoung guys are youthful and have good stamina but tend to be unreliable. Older men are better, gentler, wealthier, more handsome, and more considerate. They are the top choice for all women.â
Unfortunately, older men often already had someone in their hearts, so what was the use of being good?
Nancy didnât say this out loud. It was hidden deep in her heart.
Nicholasâ expression softened considerably, and his gaze toward her became gentler.
âWhy did you come to find me?â Returning to the main topic, Nicholas asked.
Remembering her purpose, Nancy immediately said, âGrandpa said he wants us to return to the mansion for a few days and spend more time with him. Iâve already agreed to have dinner with. him together.â
âAlright, wait for me.â
âOkay.â
After turning the corner, Nicholas walked into Madellineâs ward while Nancy waited outside the room.
Initially, she thought it would be settled in a few minutes. When Nicholas pushed the door and came out, Nancy thought everything was settled.
âMadelline wants to see you.â
Nancy clenched her fists and furrowed her brow. After a moment of hesitation, she gathered the courage to speak, âBut I donât want to see her.â
At that moment, Madellineâs voice came from inside the room, âNancy, I have no ill intentions. I want to see you and apologize.â
Apologize?
Forget it. That would never happen.
Besides, it was clear that this was all just an act for Nicholas to see. Why should she cooperate?
Suddenly, a warm hand touched her, and Nicholas held her tiny hand, leading her to Madellineâs beduide Seeing her. Madelline smiled gently, âNancy, I want to thank you Nicholas wouldnât have found 3/4 the person who hit me so quickly if it werenât for you. I also want to sincerely apologize for what happened yesterday. It was my mistake. The property division is your and Nicholasâ matter. I shouldnât have interfered.â
âSo, Iâm sorry.â
Nancy didnât want to hear these hypocritical words.
To end the conversation quickly, she responded reluctantly, âLetâs put this matter behind us. Take care of your health.â
âIn that case, have you forgiven ine?â Madelline looked surprised, and her expression was full of excitement.
âYes, Nancy replied with a lack of enthusiasm.
When she thought the conversation was over and she could leave, Madelline suddenly spoke again.
âNancy, I have an unpleasant request since youâve forgiven me. When you return to the old house this time, could you retrieve your marriage certificate from Grandpa?â
Huh!
Nancyâs heart sank. She knew Madelline wasnât that kind-hearted after all.
After talking for so long, this was what she wanted all along.
It made sense. Without the marriage certificate, Nancy couldnât be officially divorced from Nicholas even if she had signed the divorce papers.
Madelline was quite thoughtful, doing her best to hurry Nancy away.
âIâm sorry,â Nancy refused directly and decisively this time. âThis decision depends on Grandpa, not me. I wonât force him.
Besides, heâs not in a good condition now. So, I will respect whatever decision he makes.â
With that, Nancy pulled away from Nicholasâ hand and left.
As they rode back to the mansion, the atmosphere inside the car was tranquil. It was so silent that they could have heard a pin drop.
âHow did she know our marriage certificate is in Grandpaâs hand?â Nancy looked at Nicholas and couldnât help but ask.
