Chapter 20
Mr. Sallow's Sinful Wife by Maisie Chasey
Chapter 20 He Was Incredibly Sexy His warm breath instantly carried a scorching enchantment that touched Nancyâs nose, lips, and entire face.
Her entire face flushed red. She grabbed his tie with one hand and suddenly didnât know what to do.
Nancyâs heart was beating fast.
âYou... stand up straight,â she said. Her face flushed, trying to divert her attention.
âAre you sure?â
Nicholasâ voice sounded just like usual, but Nancy found it incredibly gentle and seductive in the current situation.
Especially since his lips were still close to the tip of her nose, warm and inviting, distracting her to the point where she couldnât even focus on tying the tie.
âIâm sure.â
âGood.â
He responded with a nod, and in an instant, Nicholas stood up straight.
Nancy was speechless.
Her face turned even redder.
It was so embarrassing.
When they spent much time together, how did she not notice that Nicholas was taller than her? With him standing up straight, she could barely reach his tie and had to stand on her tiptoes.
It was because she had a baby bump in her belly. Nancy had been very cautious these days, wearing flat shoes.
So, the height difference between them became even more noticeable.
And today, for some reason, she couldnât seem to get this tie right, no matter how many times she tried to tie it Although her skills werenât top-notch, it wasnât supposed to be this difficult!
Nancy was anxious, and Nicholasâ laughter rang in her ears, âWho was it that just told me to stand up?â
1/5 Nancy was instantly annoyed. She raised her head and gave that man a fierce glare.
Then, she shoved the tie into his arms and said, âIâm not doing it anymore. You can tie it yourself.
Knowing she was angry, Nicholas grabbed her wrist and pulled her back.
Seeing a table behind them, he carried Nancy and placed her on it. âAlright, go ahead and finish. tying it.â
In an instant, Nancyâs mind went blank, and her hands holding his tie just froze in place.
This felt like déjà vu.
She used to see such scenes in dramas before but never thought it would happen to her one day.
Nancy lowered her head as she tied the tie, concentrating intensely.
Her past self wouldnât have known how to tie a tie, as she had never needed to.
When she knew she would marry him, she searched online videos and learned step by step. At first, she couldnât get it right, but then she bought a tie and practiced incessantly until she finally mastered it.
Back then, she used to dream about it. She made breakfast for him every morning, tying his tie and sending him to work.
She always felt it was a ritual between husband and wife, filled with joy and happiness.
But after getting married, Nicholas never asked her to tie his tie..
She never expected the only time would be the day before they divorced.
It was the first time, but also the last time.
After tying the tie, Nicholas picked up Nancy, and they walked down the stairs hand in hand.
The hall of the Sallows had already been decorated with a golden theme, complemented by other colors, creating a festive and joyful atmosphere throughout the venue.
Despite the festive atmosphere, the venue exuded the dignity and distinction of the Sallows in every detail.
Jacob wore a tuxedo for the occasion for the occasion. He had taken the time to style his hair. He appeared lively with the tuxedo, exuding vitality.
âGrandpa, we wish you a happy 80th birthday. We wish you a long life and happiness!â
Nancy and Nicholas made a bow together, bending down to present their gifts to Jacob.
2/5 Jacob received the gifts smilingly and then helped the two of them up. âAlright, alright. Thank you for your blessings.â
The living room was filled with laughter, joy, happiness, and delight.
Just then, Sarah approached. âNicholas, Nancy, get ready. Some relatives, friends, and guests will be arriving shortly. Letâs welcome them at the entrance.â
As soon as she finished speaking, her gaze fell on Nancy. âHuh, why are you wearing this outfit? Didnât you see the red dress I had prepared for you?â
âThat outfit is festive, and itâs also a coupleâs outfit with Nicholasâ suit. Go upstairs and change into it quickly.â
Nancy clenched her fists and took a deep breath before speaking, âMom, I saw the outfit, but I donât want to reveal my identity today.â
âYouâve been married to Nicholas for two years now. Today is a rare opportunity. When else are you planning to make it public?â
âGrandpa, Mom, I havenât finished my postgraduate studies yet. Iâm still a student and donât want to announce my married status officially. After I complete my thesis defense and officially graduate, I promise to attend and publicly announce my identity with Nicholas. Would that be okay?â
Nicholas said, âYes, there are many rumors and gossip in the university, so this is also a way to protect her.â
Nancyâs reasoning was well-explained and convincing, making it hard to refuse.
Jacob was the first to nod in agreement. âHmm, that makes sense. Itâs not a matter of just a day or two. Sheâs already my granddaughter-in-law and canât run away for the rest of her life. Let her decide when she wants to reveal it.â
âAlright, Dad. Since youâve said so, Iâll certainly go along with your decision,â Sarah replied with at smile.
M In an instant, she pulled Nicholas aside and asked, âTell me the truth, are you two still planning to get a divorce?â
âMom, this is something between Nancy and me. We have our plans. Can you let us handle it?â
âI canâtâ
Sarah refused without hesitation.
Nicholas frowned tightly. âMom, we werenât meant to be together out of love. Separation is mevitable Forced marriages arenât going to be happy. Arenât you and Dad the best proof of that?â
3/5 new âIndeed, you and Dad havenât gotten divorced all these years, but let me ask you, have you been happy?â
Sarah glared at him with an angry face. Iâm talking about you and Nancy now. Donât involve me and your dad. Besides, my matter with your father is different from yours. Can it be mixed up?â
âAnyway, Iâm warning you, donât even think about divorce as long as Iâm around.â
Sarah left after saying that.
Nancy had just picked up a glass of juice and was about to take a sip when a warm, strong hand suddenly gripped hers.
She lifted her head and found herself looking into the handsome face of Nicholas.
âItâs too cold. You may not drink it.â
His tone was highly domineering as he immediately took the juice away and poured a glass of warm water for Nancy.
âPlain water has no flavor, and I want something sweet.â
These days, she hadnât tasted anything and finally found a chance to have something sweet, but someone took it away before she could even enjoy it.
Nicholas saw her pouting and looking pitiful, so he softened and handed the juice back to her. âDonât drink too much. It can cause stomach ache at night.â
âYes.â
She wouldnât have drunk a lot if he hadnât said anything.
She just wanted to take a small sip to satisfy her craving.
With a baby in her belly, she was sure always to be cautious.
Nicholas answered a phone call, and then his expression changed. âNancy, I have to go out for a bit. Iâll come back as soon as possible.â
Today was his grandfatherâs birthday, and he would only leave midway if it were for someone or something vital.
After thinking it over, other than Madelline, who else could it be?
âSheâs the one who called you, right?â
âDo you have to go?â
4/5 âIf itâs not too urgent, Iâd prefer if you...â
Before Nancy could finish her words, she was suddenly interrupted by Nicholas.
