Chapter 217
Mr. Sallow's Sinful Wife by Maisie Chasey
Chapter 217 You Dummy, Youâre The Man Iâve Loved For Ten Years!
It doesnât hurt anymore. Iâm perfectly fine now. Iâm not in pain at all. Upon seeing Nancyâs frown. Nicholas confidently stated, âI swear I donât feel any pain. If you donât believe me, I can move around to show you.â
He attempted to move his arm, but Nancy quickly grabbed hold of him and stopped him. âAlright, I believe you.â
He gently cupped her face and kissed her on the lips. âDo you feel reassured now?â
âMhm.â
âBut...â Nancy continued to delicately trace the scars on his back with her fingers. âYou need to take care of yourself from now on. Never get injured again. Do you know how much it hurts me when youâre injured?â
Nicholas suddenly thought of someone and without thinking, he asked, âHurts you more than that person did?â
Nancy was momentarily confused. âWho are you talking about?â
âThat person...â he said somewhat awkwardly. âThe person you secretly loved and had a crush on for ten years.â
Nancy was briefly stunned and immediately understood who he was referring to. As she bit her lip, a bright smile crept onto her face.
Dummy. Nick is a big dummy. How can he not realize that âthat personâ is him all along? But I guess I canât entirely blame him.
Itâs my fault. I tried to tell him the first time at the field, but he didnât listen. I tried the second time in the bathroom, leaning on the bathtub, but he left without even hearing me. The third timeâs supposed to be the charm, but Iâd only said I liked him.>
Indeed, she had never explicitly told him that he was the one she had loved for ten years, so it made sense that he was unaware and had misunderstood all along.
Since he was clueless, she would use that to make him anxious. After all, he had made her sad and upset many times too.
For once, she would have a little fun watching him go crazy.
Seeing Nancyâs smiling face, Nicholas felt increasingly uneasy. As a man, he should not be too concerned, especially since he was the one she loved now and the one she was with. He should be content. Furthermore, he was not even in her life back when she had a crush on someone else, so how could he blame her?
But after falling in love with her, he became possessive and petty.
He cared 1/3 Nancy propped her chin with one hand, her clear eyes gazing at Nicholas. They were like stars, sparkling and dazzling. Her lips always carried a faint smile, making her look enchanting.
All the questions Nicholas had wanted to ask were now stuck in his throat.
It seemed he did not need to ask anymore. Her actions had already revealed everything.
Finally, consumed by jealousy, he huffed. âIf you care so much about that person, why do you like me, and why do you come to me? Nancy, Iâll give you a chance now. I wonât stop you. You can go see him if you want.â
She chuckled at that. At that point, her heart was already bubbling with happiness. She felt like she was floating on cloud nine, and her life was sweet like honey. On the surface, however, she kept up her act by intentionally not saying anything.
Nicholas turned away, not wanting to look at her because he needed some time to himself.
Just a moment ago, she was so caring, and he was blissfully happy. But now, as excited as he was before, he felt equally miserable and desolate.
Nancy did not leave; she only quietly watched a certain someone sulk. After turning away, he regretted his outburst.
In truth, he had only wanted to test her reaction, hoping she would coax him and not actually make her leave. He could not bear to do that! Moreover, he had mentally prepared himself. As long as she was willing to console him, he would not mind anything else. He would continue to live with her and, from then on, never mention that killjoy of a man.
However, he miscalculated.
She did not even call his name, let alone console him.
In the end, he could not hold it in any longer. He intentionally bumped into his wound and then pretended to let out a groan.
As expected, when Nancy heard him cry out in pain, her heart softened. She got up, poured a glass of water, and handed it to him. âWould you like some hot water?â
âNo,â he grumbled petulantly and turned his head away.
She did not say anything at first. As she held the glass and lightly tapped her fingers against it, she asked again, âAre you sure?â
How could she not know that he was sulking?
In the end, Nicholas, lacking backbone, took the water glass and drank a few sips before he handed it back to her. âIf you miss that person so much, why donât you go see him?â
âHow do you know I havenât looked for him?â Nancy asked in return.
Upon hearing this answer, he instantly felt a lump in his chest.
She had actually gone to find that man! Just the thought of it made him want to flare up. When he got 2/3 angry, his chest hurt again. But this time, he was not as tolerant as before.
He reached out and pulled her into his arms. âI donât care. Since youâve already seen him, and you havenât reconciled, the person you like now is me. I wonât let go, and I wonât give you to him. If he dares to come looking for you again, I wonât spare him.â
Nancy, with a hint of a smile, asked, â What are you going to do to him?â
âThis is a matter between us men, and there will be a man-to-man way of settling it. Besides, I remember you said he got married and remarried, so in terms of market value or economic power, he canât compare to me.â
She had to suppress a laugh, suddenly finding the man in front of her incredibly adorable.
so cute.>
âNick, he hasnât remarried. And didnât you get divorced too? The way you say it sounds like Iâm buying something.
âWell, letâs pretend thatâs the case. I have a high price-to-value ratio, so youâre buying me. Besides, how can I be the same as him? My first marriage and remarriage will only ever be with you.â
Nancy couldnât resist reaching out and playfully pinching his check. âWhen did you become so shameless?â
âIâve always been shameless with you.â
âDo you hate him, then?â she asked again.
âAbsolutely.â
âAnd you donât like him either?â
He nodded. âNope.â
âGood.â She nodded and then suddenly looked at him, giving a sincere response. âI donât like him either because heâs so, so, so dumb. Itâs been such a long time, and he still hasnât realized heâs that person. Heâs even getting jealous of himself. Heâs so foolish, not cute at all.â
Wait a moment.
Nicholasâ mind was spinning rapidly.
Jealous of himself? Jealous of... myself? Is Nancy suggesting that the man is...
In that moment, he was so excited that he could hardly believe it. So, the person wasnât someone else but... him?
