Chapter 221
Mr. Sallow's Sinful Wife by Maisie Chasey
Chapter 221 Christian Learns About Nancyâs Divorce After seeing Nancy off in the car, Christian turned and walked back.
As he reached the front door of his home, he noticed Luciana leaning against the gate, calmly looking at him.
âWas it Nicholas who picked her up?â
Although it was a question, Lucianaâs tone was certain.
âDo you know him?â
âThere are only two cars like that in the whole city. One is at the Sallow Residence, and the other one I gave you on your birthday. You thought it was too flashy, so you usually keep it in the garage. If it werenât for the dust gathering on it, I wouldnât have driven it out.â
Christian understood. âWhat are you trying to say?â
Luciana raised an eyebrow.
Unable to hide it any longer, she approached and grabbed his clothes directly. âAre you playing hide and seek with me? Youâre a bit too naive. Iâve seen through your thoughts a thousand times.â
âWell, keep it to yourself then and pretend you donât know,â Christian said.
Luciana looked at him and responded in a cool tone, âThat birthday party at the Sallows and the late- night request for me to contact a gynecology professor was all for her, right?â
Christian looked up at the moonlit sky and remained silent.
âNow that her husband has come and theyâre all lovey-dovey and sweet, you come back all crestfallen?â
âLucie...â He got angry but suppressed his anger as he muttered, âI just want some peace.â
She suddenly punched him. âChristian, you are my brother. What are you hesitating about? So what if itâs the Sallows? The Zayns have never been afraid of anyone, not even the Sallows. If you like her, go after her. How would she know if you stay here alone and donât say anything?â
âLucie...â Christian looked at her again, and his gaze was filled with deep sadness. âThey are husband and wife. Are you encouraging me to break up their marriage?â
âTheyâre not. I found out that they got divorced a month ago. Since that girl is already single, you should have the right to fair competition.â
âWhat?â He looked up at Luciana, disbelief coloring his eyes. âLucie, say that again.â
Iâll say it again, then. I can assure you and tell you responsibly that she has already divorced Nicholas After saying that, she expected Christian to be ecstatic. However, the situation was completely unexpected.
1/3 He walked toward her and suddenly hugged her. âLucie, thank you for understanding. I thought you would mind.â
Luciana smiled softly. âWhy would I mind? Should I mind that she has been married, or mind that she had a miscarriage? Silly boy, why would I mind if you really like her and love her? Besides, most girls have been in relationships, so why should they remain pure and marry you? Iâm not that old- fashioned. I have never cared about who the other person is or where they come from. As long as itâs the person you have chosen, itâll be the person I choose.â
Tears welled up in Christianâs eyes when he heard that.
The greatest pain in his life was losing his father, and the greatest happiness in his life was having a sister who treated him wholeheartedly, protected him, and stood by his side.
When he wanted to join the police force, his mother strongly objected, but he was determined to go. Later, it was his sister who stepped in and stood against all opposition to let him join the police force.
She also took over all of the Zaynsâ businesses, transforming from a carefree heiress into a formidable female president.
Her sacrifices protected his dreams and his original intentions.
The two siblings entered the house hand in hand, with Lucianaâs arm around Christian.
Upon seeing the two siblings come in, Bella got up while still wearing a gentle smile. âYouâre back so soon?â
However, she felt a bit regretful that she couldnât keep Nancy here for dinner.
Luciana went over and hooked her arm around the older womanâs. âMom, I know youâre eager for a daughter-in-law, but love is something that canât be rushed. You know your own son well enough, donât you?â
âAlas, I know him too well. Iâm old and going to die soon. Those who are the same age as him already have children. How can I not be anxious?â
Christian walked over to support Bella and said, âMom, donât say these unlucky things.â
âChristian, be honest with me. Do you like that girl or not?â
âWeâre just friends,â he replied.
âI didnât ask about your relationship. Iâm asking if you like her or not âMom, this soup is delicious! Itâs really tasty. Let me serve you some. Come and have a sip Luciana immediately scooped a bowl of soup for Bella.
Bella glared at her âDonât change the topic. Itâs all your fault, youâve spoiled hum since he was little and now, heâs almost thirty and still doesnât have a guliniend âMom, youâre being unreasonable You ve spoiled hum just as much How can you say I spoiled ham excessively?â
2/3 Bella was at a loss for words.
At that moment, Cynthia came over and hugged Bella. âMom, donât worry. I promise you that Christian will definitely find a beautiful, gentle, and elegant wife.â
âI love it when you say that.â
Back at home, Nancy had just opened the door.
In the next moment, Nicholas dragged her into the foyer and pinned her against the wall, where they kissed passionately for several minutes. It left her weak and almost powerless. Only then did he stop.
Then, he smiled contentedly.
âCrafty man.â Nancy leaned against his chest while playfully poking him.
âOh? How am I crafty?â Nicholas pretended not to know.
âWhoâs the one who said he would go home and wait for me but waited for me at the hospitalâs entrance? Are you worried I wonât come back?â
âYes, I was.â Nicholas nodded and pinched her cheek. âMy girlfriend is so lovely. If she were taken away by another man, Iâd have no tears to cry.â
âItâs not as exaggerated as youâre making it out to be.â
âAnyway, you canât be alone with other men in the future.â He became domineering again.
She reached out and pinched his cheek too. âNicholas, even though your concern and jealousy make me feel valued, I still hope you can trust me more. Iâve said it before-Iâm just friends with Christian, and my concern for him is purely platonic. Since Iâve decided to be with you, I will be responsible to everyone.â
âI donât doubt you,â Nicholas said. âI just donât trust him.â
Nancy was speechless upon hearing that.
The helpers at home had prepared a scrumptious meal, consisting of all the duoâs favorite dishes.
As soon as the food was served, it appeared and smelled incredible.
Nancy cast a glance at it and instantly felt her hunger grow.
Luckily, she hadnât mentioned Bellaâs invitation for her to stay for lunch, or a certain someone would become jealous once more.
The two of them settled down at the dining table. Just then, Nicholasâ phone began to ring.
He glanced at it and promptly ended the call.
However, his phone started ringing again within a few seconds.
Nancy looked perplexed and inquired, âWhy arenât you answering it?â
