Chapter 224
Mr. Sallow's Sinful Wife by Maisie Chasey
Chapter 224 Thereâs No Possibility Between Us âAll right. Ms. Madeline is awake!â the doctor exclaimed excitedly from the side.
Upon seeing Nicholas, Madeline immediately threw herself into his arms.
âNicholas, is it really you? I didnât make a mistake, did I? Sob... Youâre finally here. Do you know how scared I was?â
Madeline sobbed heavily in his arms, and she seemed like she might faint at any moment.
After spending another day in the hospital, Madelineâs health improved considerably. Nicholas then took her out of the hospital and found a short-term apartment for her to rest.
In the evening, as she slept, he got up and was about to leave.
Suddenly, Madeline sat up from the bed and hugged him tightly.
Nicholas pushed her away, his gaze turning cold. âMadeline, Iâve made it very clear. Thereâs no possibility between us. I am in love with Nancy now, and I will never betray her or do anything to hurt her. As for you, I will do my best to make amends, but I canât promise you anything more.â
He pulled away from her grasp without hesitation and left the room.
At that moment, Madeline cried out in sorrow from behind. âArenât you afraid Iâll try to kill myself again? Arenât you afraid Iâll die?â
Nicholas turned around. His gaze was filled with sadness and sorrow as he looked at her.
âYour life is your own, and each person only has one. You saved me, and I will naturally save you, but we all should take responsibility for ourselves. Madeline, I canât save you every time, so you need to think carefully.â
With that, he left without any further hesitation.
The room turned cold.
She watched him leave while hugging herself tightly.
Tears flowed silently down her face.
With each tear, her resentment toward Nancy deepened.
âNancy, itâs all because of you If it werenât for you, Nicholas would still be mine. Itâs all your fault! You took away the man I loved the most, and you took everything that belonged to me. Nancy Cohen, 1 wonât let you get away with it! I wonât let you have an easy life!â
Madelineâs face was once again filled with burning anger as she wiped away her tears.
After leaving the room, Nicholas immediately made a phone call âHow is the progress on what I asked you to look into?â
1/4 His assistant replied excitedly, âMr. Sallow, I was just about to inform you. Weâve made contact. Professor Lottâs team will be taking a flight back to the country tomorrow at noon, so we can communicate with them in the morning. Iâve already set up the meeting location for you.â
âGood. Tell me the location.â
The next day, after meeting with Professor Lott and seeing him off, Nicholas breathed a sigh of relief.
The burden that had weighed on his heart for so long had finally been lifted.
After finishing his coffee, he immediately video-called Nancy.
Upon seeing him, Nancy naturally felt a sense of longing.
âAre you tired from work? Have you been sleeping well? Do you miss me?â Nicholas bombarded her with questions as soon as he saw her.
âYouâre asking me so many questions at once. I donât even know which one to answer,â she replied with a smile.
âAll right. Iâll ask the most important one, then. Do you miss me?â
Nancy, however, replied with a question of her own. âWhat about you? Do you miss me?â
Nicholas held up his phone and blew a kiss to the screen. âYes, I miss you very much.â
âI miss you too.â
As soon as she finished speaking, she heard Toni calling out to her. âNancy, come on. Iâve already set the table for you.â
âToni is calling me for dinner, so Iâll hang up now,â
âAll right. Go ahead.â
After ending the call, Nancy was in high spirits, and her dinner with Toni was especially delightful.
âIs your boyfriend on a business trip again?â Toni asked.
Nancy nodded helplessly. âYes. Heâs been really busy lately.â
I envy you so muchâ Toni propped her chin in her hands, her face filled with longing Nancy smiled. Thereâs nothing to envy. Both of us are so busy that sometimes we donât even see each other for a weekâ
âBoth of you are so busy, but youâre still able to be in a relationship and can even publicly display affection. Itâs so envy-inducing that itâs heart-wrenching How can I not be envious?
Really Nancy didnât think so herself Toni immediately pointed at her face âOf course! Look at you. Your whole face is practically screaming. Tim in love and very happy, and you look radiant full of joy, and swaying in the breeze of 2/4 spring.
âIs it that obvious?â
Toni nodded vigorously. âIt canât be more obvious. Ms. Nancy, please spare a thought for a single person like me.â
Nancy laughed upon hearing that. Her smile was charming and captivating.
âToni, youâre so lovely. Someday, youâll meet your own prince charming.â
âWell, Iâll take your words as a blessing. I hope itâs a prince charming and not one whoâs not charmingâ
With a snort, Nancy burst into laughter.
She covered her lips. Her laughter was bright and alluring, and she looked at Toni. âDonât blame me. Itâs just that youâre so funny.â
Toni hummed before she sighed. âIf only someone could be just like you and understand my interesting soul.â
âYouâre wrong,â Nancy said. âI think your beautiful appearance far surpasses your interesting soul. Miss Bailey, your beauty is too good to go to waste without taking advantage of it.â
âAh, Nancy. I love you. Youâre simply an angel.â
Thanks to Nancyâs praise, Toni was in a great mood for the rest of the day.
After dinner, the two girls left while chatting and laughing.
They completely didnât notice that, not far behind them, Julian was earnestly listening to their conversation.
It seemed like Nancy really had a boyfriend.
She hadnât lied to him.
It appeared he had misunderstood her.
Just after dinner, Toni received a call from the hospitalâs administrative office, saying that Julian wanted to see her.
Julian?
Toni was momentarily taken aback as she wondered how she, a lowly staff member, could have anything to do with a deputy director.
With an uneasy heart, she knocked on Julianâs office door.
âMr. Jadin, you... you wanted to see me?â After all, he was the deputy director of the hospital, and she was a little nervous.
âRelax. I just want to talk to you. Itâs not work-related.â
3/4 Only then did she finally relax. She pondered whether she had made a mistake at the hospital, which had led to her being summoned by the deputy director.
Her heart was pounding, making it almost unbearable.
Upon learning that it was not work-related, Toni felt much more at ease.
âAre you Toni Bailey?â Mr. Jadin asked.
âYes, Mr. Jadin,â Toni replied.
âYour relationship with Nancy seems quite strong, Julian remarked.
Nancy? Does he want to know about Nancyâs situation? Does he actually have an interest in Nancy?
Toniâs mind began to race.
Julian let out a soft snort, prompting Toni to quickly nod. âYes, weâre friends.â
âI heard you mention that Nancy has a boyfriend now. Do you know him? Whatâs his name?â
Julianâs consecutive questions left Toni completely stunned.
After a moment, she widened her eyes in disbelief and said, âMr. Jadin, does this mean you actually have feelings for Nancy?â
