Chapter 20. Gone
In This Together ▷ Stilinski
i apologize in advance with how short this chapter is. i obviously didn't cut the episode very well... haha, so yeah.
"Oh my god, please tell me that you know how to do CPR." I panicked as I ran my hands through my hair. I've never actually learned how to do it, my mom has talked to me about it but I am not confident enough to actually try to do it.
Stiles nodded quickly, "I think so. Okay, you can do this. You can do this." He mumbled to himself as he rolled his sleeves up and awkwardly titled her chin up.
"Okay, tilt the head... fingers on the chin, clear the throat-- nothing, I see nothing. Okay, so just pinch the nose and blow." He rambled as he then did just as he said-- he punched her nose and pressed his mouth against her's.
I ignored the pang of jealousy I felt, mostly because Cora could die and now is not the time to be having a jealous bitch fit. He needed to save her, otherwise we would have one very angry Derek on our hands.
"Come on, Cora." Stiles muttered as he went in to blow another puff of air into her lungs. Watching someone actually perform CPR is more nerve-racking than anything I have ever experienced. I can literally see her chest moving up whenever he blows air into her, and that just shows that she is currently not breathing, which means we have like thirty seconds before the blood in her system no longer has oxygen pumped through it, and that's when she goes brain dead-- leading to her being legally dead.
After a few more puffs of air, Cora let out a gasp and her ragged breathing from before started again. Stiles let out a sigh of relief, "Thank god."
"New rule, the only time you're allowed to put your lips to another girls, is if they're dying." I remarked as I rubbed at my temples. This evening was probably the worst one that I've had in quite a while.
Stiles chuckled as he grabbed my hand, "I think I can manage that."
"Just, hold on a little longer.." I mumbled as I glanced at Cora, I know she can't hear me, but it doesn't hurt to try to talk to her. And if I am being completely honest, I'm not just talking to her. My statement was also directed at Stiles, and myself.
I glanced at Stiles wearily, to see him watching the floor intently. I feel like the worst girlfriend on the planet right now, there is absolutely nothing I can do to help him. I gave his hand a reassuring squeeze, "It's gonna be okay."
"I've been thinking... about what Cora said, about just showing up and finding the bodies." He mumbled as he kept his brown eyes focused on the floor.
I nodded slowly, "I have too."
"Maybe she's right, maybe that's all we actually do. Kasey... I don't want to find my dad's body." His voice broke as he hesitantly met my gaze, his eyes shining from unshed tears.
"You won't, because he's going to be okay. Stiles, I promise you that."
He wiped at his eyes and attempted to smile, "You know it's a lot easier to talk to you when it's just the two of us."
"Yeah, we haven't really had much alone time lately." I chuckled softly, giving his hand another squeeze. When all of this craziness is over, we are going to have to go on a date or something.
Stiles opened his mouth to respond, but he froze when the sound of growling echoed around the garage. Oh, that's not good. I glanced out the window to see Ethan and Aiden as mega-wolf walking past us. I swallowed nervously as I pressed my back up against the side of the ambulance.
I squeezed my eyes shut as the sounds of doors opening and closing, and then the pitter patter of more footsteps continued outside of the vehicle. Someone was coming towards us, and I don't like the odds of it being one of alpha's.
I pryed my eyes open to glance out the window, and sure enough Scott chose that exact moment to pop his head up. I jumped in place and hit my head on the cabinet in surprise, "Stiles, Kasey, open the door." He panicked as he helped support Peter.
My boyfriend sighed in relief at the sight of my brother and scrambled to get the doors open for him, they awkwardly pulled Peter in and he sat down beside us.
"Where's Derek and Jennifer? What about mom?" I asked quickly, already itching to go and look for her. Sitting here is starting to stress me out even more.
Scott sighed, "I have to go and look for them."
"Okay well two problems. One, Kali has the keys to this thing. And two, I just saw the twins like thirty seconds ago." Stiles stated.
My brother nodded, "Alright, stay here. Kasey, I mean it. I'll get mom, do not leave this ambulance."
"Scott I can't just sit here knowing--"
He narrowed his eyes at me, "Yes you can, because I can't protect you, and find Derek, Jennifer, and mom, and avoid the alpha's all at once. I need you to stay here."
"Fine." I huffed in annoyance.

Sitting and waiting is the absolute worst thing in the world to do, especially when you have every fiber of your being telling you to get up and help. I know that I can't do much, but I need to find my mom. The idea of her getting hurt because of Scott or myself is just entirely too much to even think about.
I had every intention of sneaking out of the ambulance the second Scott was gone, but of course Stiles wasn't letting that happen. Apparently he would much rather deal with me bitching him out, than me running around the hospital actually doing something productive. And that, leads us to the argument we are currently having.
"I'm faster than you, I can easily get out of here before you can catch me." I retorted as I shot my boyfriend an annoyed look.
He rolled his eyes, "You're also very clumsy and would more than likely stumble and fall, therefore I could easily catch up. And that is also another great point as to why I'm not letting you leave."
"Stiles, I'm a big girl-- I can take care of myself." I remarked. He had a good point, I am very clumsy and I more than likely would fall or something and that could cause a problem.
Peter shifted uncomfortably beside us, "I don't really think now is the time for a lover's spat."
"I don't really think now is the time for you to put in your unwanted two-sense." I snapped in annoyance.
Stiles' phone began to ring, and he spazzed out as he retrieved it from his pocket quickly. I watched him with wide eyes as he pressed the blue device to his ear, "Isaac?"
I was relieved that it wasn't Scott calling, informing us that we have yet another problem, but on the other hand I was put off that it wasn't Scott calling, informing us that he found mom, Derek, and Jennifer.
"A plan? Yeah, I'm listening." Stiles responded as he glanced at Cora's body, they must be talking about a way to get her out of the hospital.
He nodded to himself, "Okay-- yeah, we'll be ready."
"What did he say? What plan?" I asked the second he pulled his cell phone away from his ear. A plan means that something is going down, and I am more than ready to finally do something apart from sitting in this ambulance with Peter.
Stiles glanced at Peter and Cora before explaining, "When Isaac pulls up which will be within the next five minutes, we need to get Cora in the car."
"What about my mom? And Scott? We aren't leaving." I stated as I sent him a confused glance. I know that he wants me out of the hospital as soon as possible, but I'm not leaving without my mom or brother.
He sighed, "They'll be okay. We have to leave."
I wanted to argue with him, but I knew it was a bad idea to continue to do so. I'm just going to have to take matters into my own hands, again. The sound of tires squealing pulled us from the conversation, and Peter and Stiles scrambled to get Cora out of the back of the ambulance and into the car with Isaac.
"Let's go!" Isaac shouted as I slid out of the back end of the ambulance, but before I did something caught my eye.
A clipboard was hanging on the small cabinet, and it was holding several medical release forms. On the bottom there was a line for a signature, with the words Parent or Guardian printed beside it.
Parent or Guardian.
Guardian or Parent.
The only thought running through my mind after that was that Jennifer was going to take my mom. I sprinted into the hospital, ignoring Stiles and Isaac as they screamed at me. My head was pounding and my lungs were burning, I know what this means. I know that she's going to be taken. I know that Deucalion did this all on purpose. How could I have not put it together sooner? I'm such an idiot!
I slid to a halt in front of the elevator, Derek was laying their unconscious and the hatch at the top of the elevator was broken. Oh god no.
"KASEY! WAIT!" Stiles shouted from behind me, but I ignored his plea and bolted towards the stairs, taking them two at a time, slamming my shins against the marble. I stumbled along, trying to use as much of my endurance from cross country as I could muster at this point.
The door to the roof was already open, and I stumbled out to find Deucalion and Scott standing there. Scott whipped his head around to face me with wide eyes, he must have figured it ous as well.
"Where is she?" I asked breathlessly, my eyes darting around the roof fearfully.
Deucalion began to walk towards us, "They're gone. Guardians Scott... if you were with me, I could have told you what it meant. I could have warned you. Let me help you, Scott, let's help each other. You help me catch her, and I'll help you both get your mother and Stiles' father back."
"What does that mean?" I asked quickly, noticing that Scott was looking at me with eyes of regret. I don't understand.
Deucalion smiled, "Kasey it's such a shame that we have to meet on these terms. I have been asking about you for quite some time now, yet Scott has managed to keep you from me."
I noticed that Scott started to take a step towards Deucalion, and then it clicked-- he is joining the pack.
"No! Scott, stop!" I panicked as my heart slammed against my ribcage violently. This isn't supposed to happen, he isn't supposed to join the pack.
My brother glanced at Deucalion, "Keep Kasey out of this."
"I believe it's up to her, Scott. If she wants my help, she has to help me." He smirked, lightening flashed and in the momentary darkness I noticed that his eyes were glowing bright red beneath his sunglasses.
"You said that you didn't need her if you had me." Scott panicked. Oh my god, they've talked about this in the past?
Jennifer wasn't lying when she said that Deucalion wanted me in his pack. He lied to Scott to get what he wanted, and now he wants us both-- two true alpha's, to make his pack stronger. I'm not even a wolf, that means I will have to given the bite and I will have to make the transition. I could reject it. Oh my god.
"I don't need her, but I want her. If I were you Kasey, I would highly consider my offer." Deucalion sent me another wicked smirk as Scott's shoulder relaxed. He wasn't taking me. Why isn't he taking me?
"Scott, please. You don't-- you don't have to do this." I rushed out as I wrapped my hands in my hair, trying to keep myself from shattering. I can't lose him too. I can't-- oh my god I can't even breathe right now.
Stiles stumbled out on to the roof as well, "Scott stop. You don't have to go with him."
My brother turned around to face us both with tear filled eyes, "I don't know what else to do."
"We'll figure something out, we--we always have a plan B." Stiles rushed out, his voice cracking.
Scott shook his head from side to side, "Not this time. I'm gonna find your dad, I promise."
I watched as my brother and Deucalion began to walk off, "Scott!" I called after him, trying to get him to change his mind, but he didn't. He walked into the steam from the generators and disappeared. I stood in silence beside Stiles, the only person who hasn't left me yet.
