Chapter 30

Epilogue

Cinnamon Apple Pie

A year later...

It didn't catch anyone by surprising when Lydia and Kade finally admitted to being in love with each other. Everyone already knew that. But it did catch everyone by surprise when they sent out their wedding invitations. It was a very small event, just immediate family and closest friends, but it was magical and joyful, and their vows had made everyone cry and hope for a love like theirs. A love that had stood the test of time, lived through trials and tribulations and that, despite it all, still found a happy ending, even if it happened to be in the autumn of life.

Faith's feet hurt, and she was tired and couldn't stand anymore, but she was happy and had already cried more tears of joy than she thought possible. Callum and she sat alone in a quiet corner, while the rest of the party went on without them.

"Those two, one day, will have to tell us the story about all of this came to be," Faith said, smiled while looking at Lydia and Mr Grant in each other's arms on the dance floor.

"Didn't they say something in their speech about faith making them believe that their love was worth a try?" Callum said, while running his fingers through her hair.

"And what? That doesn't tell me the story. It doesn't tell me anything about it at all." She pouted.

Callum chuckled. "I think it tells you enough." He gently grabbed her chin and tuned her face towards his, placing a tender kiss on her lips. Making her completely forget about whatever it was she was thinking about. "Your hair is getting longer. I guess you won't mind if I call you Rapunzel, then."

"Actually, it's about time you stop calling me Rapunzel, don't you think? I don't live in my tower anymore."

"Maybe I should build you a castle, then?" He smirked. "Let's get another place. A bigger one. Both mine and yours."

"Sounds good." She smiled. Her cheeks flushed. And the butterflies danced around. "I don't mind when you call me princess, or Rapunzel," she mumbled, embarrassed, thinking back to all the times he called her those things when they first met, "but I like to hear you say my name."

"Faith," he whispered by her ear, making her shiver. "I love you."

"I love you, too." She kissed him softly.

Callum smiled from ear to ear and interlaced his fingers with hers. He pulled her closer, and she leaned her body against his. "Time to go home before you fall asleep and I have to carry you, don't you think?"

"I'm very comfortable right now. You are the perfection cushion." She yawned.

"I know. That's why I'm taking you home, where you can have me all to yourself." Faith blushed and felt a sudden burst of energy, making her sit completely straight in her chair. Callum laughed. "Let's go then. Daisy's also waiting for us."

"Wait. Don't forget the bouquet."

"Right, the bouquet. It's the second bouquet that's literally thrown at your face. Does that mean we're next?"

"What?" she squealed while turning fully red from head to toe.

"You heard me." He smirked.

Faith cleated her throat. "It's actually the third. Although I'm not entirely sure that one counted." Callum furrowed his brows, curious to know the rest of the story. "At Josh's and Kyle's wedding. They didn't have a bouquet, but a drunk Josh decided to take some flowers from a jar and throw them in the air. All the flowers ended up on the ground, expect one that, somehow, landed on my head."

Callum chuckled. "I guess it can't be just a coincidence at this point."

"If we ever decide to get married, can we elope? I don't think I can go through all the planning again, and the idea of falling while walking down the aisle, or just falling at any point during the event, has always terrified me."

"I'll do whatever you want as long as I can be your husband and call you my wife." He smiled and her heart stopped.

"What?" Faith still felt the butterflies dancing around every time Callum looked at her like that and she was certain they wouldn't fly away anytime soon.

"But I've promised I'll always catch you, haven't? So tripping and falling shouldn't be something you worry about anymore."

"You're right." She smiled. With Callum by her side, Faith truly felt like he would always be there to catch her. It was such a comforting and reassuring feeling, something she had never experienced before him. It scared her sometimes. How much she loved him. How much he loved her. And how right it felt to be with him. But maybe the most surprising thing of all was how much she felt like her truest self when she was around him, how much he made her feel whole and at peace with herself.
