It takes me seven days before I finally figure out how to escape from my room without getting caught. I maneuver through the halls, rushing in the direction to Harry's room. I've masked my scent with a shirt I ripped off a guard in resistance to taking another pill to make me sleep.

When I come upon his room, a key code lies on the door and I punch in the date my father left my family. It's also the date he found his mate.

It opens and I quickly walk in, shutting it behind me. Harry's body lies motionless against the wall but I run to him, grabbing his cheeks in my hands. My lips sponge kisses to his face and his eyes droop to look at me.

"Mae," he breathes, weakness in his voice.

"Yes," I nod, pressing my lips to his even though he barely moves.

I untie his hands and his body falls onto mine, his arms slowly wrapping around my body. He lies down and I shift, licking his wounds and healing him to the best of my ability. Once I shift back, I grab his hand and he looks up at me.

"I'm so sorry," I whisper, his head shaking.

"No. I'm sorry," he says. He shifts to make the pain ease better, my body shifting as well. He stands and walks slowly to the door, my body following behind him. We run towards the exit and something hits my leg, my body falling. Harry stops and lifts me onto his back, running as fast as he can out of the building.

I shift and hold onto his fur as he run, my leg losing all feeling as he does so. My eyes look around and I have no idea where I am.

Harry goes down shortly, his body whimpering and throwing me by accident. He rolls, shifting as he writhes in pain. Both of us has a wound on our legs and his wrists are cut from the restraints, my hand grabbing his as he pulls me to him.

"They won't hurt you," he breathes, my eyes shutting as I cry. He kisses me before we're ripped apart, my body too weak to fight back.

You stupid bitch! My father yells at me as I'm dropped in front of him.

You disgust me! He grits, kicking my side.

I open my eyes, turning in pain. He lifts me so I kneel, his hands forcing me to watch the doors.

You see that, he points at a whip, my heart dropping into my stomach.

It's covered in wolfsbane. Which one will be my lucky victim? He laughs, the doors opening. Harry is struggling in the arms of two of my father's men, his eyes meeting mine.

"Let her go!" he yells, my body struggling to go to him.

"Shut up!" my father yells, his hand pulling my hair so I look away from Harry. I wince, more pain shooting through me.

"Get your hands off her!" Harry yells, shoving his arms against the men.

"Oh, she's crying," my father nags, my eyes shutting tightly as my tears fall down my cheek.

"S-Stop," I plead, his laugh ringing through the room.

"Now, now. I think we need him to watch you get what you deserve," my father says.

"No! Don't touch her!" he yells, my lips quivering as they shove me to the floor.

"Stop! Hurt me, not her!" Harry screams, my eyes shutting tightly after seeing my father grab the whip.

"No!" Harry screams, my body lifted.

My father laughs, my body lifted up. "I have a better idea," he laughs, my head grabbed and forced to look at my father.

"You are going to whip him," he tells me, my head shaking.

"No," I cry, his lips curving into an evil smile.

"Oh, yes you will," he says, Harry's eyes on me.

"Mae," he says, nodding my head.

"I can't," I whisper, my father laughing.

"Then you watch," he says, the men shoving Harry to the ground. His back is on show and my father stands behind them.

"Make sure she watches," the man holding me directed at my father's comment.

"Harry," I cry, his eyes meeting mine.

Shift, he says, my body immediately shifting. He does as well but a gunshot runs out, my eyes shutting tightly.

A breath is let out as I wake, my body sitting up. I look around, seeing an unfamiliar room. When I look around, I see the door open and I walk to it. I walk out of the room, multiple people swarming.

"Esmae, you must go back to bed," someone says, her outfit one of a nurse's.

"W-Where am I?" I ask, her hands guiding me back to bed.

"Memorial Hospital in Augusta, Maine," she says, my head falling back onto the pillow.

"Who brought me here?" I ask, her greying hair pulled back into a ponytail.

"A young man. Blonde hair and blue eyes. I believe his name is Niall," she says, my head nodding. I know him so it's alright.

"Now, you have been through a lot of trauma. You need to rest," she says, my head nodding.

I close my eyes and hear someone enter the room, my head turning to the side.

"Where is he?" I ask, Niall looking at me.

"We had to take him to a pack house in northern Maine. He was shot in the leg and you were shot with wolfsbane. They're familiar with wolves in this hospital," he says, my lips emitting a cough.

"He's alright," he says, my heart clenching.

"I want to see him," I say, his lips releasing a sigh.

"You can't," he says, my eyes looking at him.

"It's not safe for the two of you to be together right now. Until your father is out of the picture, you're banned from seeing each other," he says, my jaw dropping.

They can't do this. That's unfair.

"No! I'm his mate!" I yell, his fingers running through his hair.

"Mae, he's angry at it too. But we need to kill your father. As horrible as that sounds, we need to. Once he's gone, you'll be with him."

"That's sick. I need Harry," I say.

I'm angry; furious at this. It's pointless to keep us apart.

"I know you need him. He needs you but it's a must in this situation. You are targeted but we were able to make your scent with the medication here. Go on with normal life until you hear word from us," he says, my lips pursing.

This is stupid.

Harry.

"Stop moving!" Isaac yells, the pain in my body unable to be helped because they've decided it's best to keep Mae away from me. I can't smell her and I can't send messages to her.

It's like she's not even alive anymore.

"It hurts," I grit, my leg gushing blood because of the gunshot.

"I have Mae's blood right here," he says, injecting it into my thigh.

The pain fades and I stand up, grabbing a shirt and running out of the room.

"I need to find her," I tell the pack, but I'm stopped.

"Not until her father is out of the picture," Riker says, my lips pursing.

"She's my mate. I need her by my side," I state, his head shaking.

I attempt to shove him out of my way but he doesn't care, my body falling back.

"It's best for everyone," Alex says, my eyes rolling.

"You don't care. You just don't want your pack in danger. She's all I have," I say, his hand running through his hair. Looking around the room, all eyes are on me and I sigh.

"We get it. Mae's your mate, but once her father is gone, you can go back to her," Hayes says, my body boiling with anger.

"You know, this is really fucked up. I'm going to find her," I say, getting up and walking straight out of the house. I'm followed and pushed back into the house, my hands fisting as I punch the men restraining me.

"Get off me! How would you like it if I told you I'm taking your mate away from you?! It's a fucking low blow and I refuse to take this shit from you. Mae is mine and I will find her. Don't fucking try to stop me," I grit, slamming the door as I walk out. I run, shifting as I run into town. I can't smell her at all and that's what frustrates me the most.

I see Niall's wolf and I run to him.

Where is she?

I don't know. I was securing the boarder.

I groan and run away from him, shifting and walking into the town.

Mae, I try, closing my eyes to hear her.

Nothing.

I walk around town, trying to listen for her. There is no sound I can get and I grow frustrated. What if she's not alive? This whole 'keep her away from me' thing is a little dramatic. I can protect her.

Once I settle in front of her old house, I walk in and immediately smell her. It's her clothes, not her.

There's blood on the walls from when her father attacked her mother. It's brutal and I shut my eyes, trying to focus on Mae.

Mae, please. Try for me, I say, but once again I get nothing.

I won't stop until I find her.
