Chapter 24

024

Lone Wolf (h.s au)

I lay on my back, Harry's wolf lying beside me with his head on my swollen stomach. We've had to come and live with his mother again, due to my pregnancy. It's the full moon and he has to stay in his wolf form, my head rolling to the side.

He's learned to understand his mother's mistakes, not forgiving her but giving her a chance. Gemma refuses to talk to her because she had a father she never knew.

I'm almost near the end of pregnancy. It's extremely fast and I've been eating a lot. Harry likes feeling the baby kick and hear its heartbeat. He's very protective over me and doesn't let me go anywhere alone.

Isaac has helped me with how to deal with everything, his aid extremely helpful. He knows the gender and is intrigued to see how Harry will react.

My hand slowly runs through his fur, his green eyes opening to look at me. He licks my hand and then my stomach, my hands cupping his snout. After I kiss the top of his head, he keeps his head on my stomach.

After falling asleep, I wake up and feel something rush down my leg. Harry's lying beside me and I groan, sitting up and seeing that my water broke.

"Harry," I whisper, his head turning to look up at me. His eyes widen and he lifts me up, eyes glossing over as he mind-links with his pack.

We prep for a while, his mother helping me get situated on a bed. Harry hands me a glass of ice chips and I thank him, his lips kissing my forehead. Isaac enters the room and Harry allows him to help me, my hand grabbing Harry's.

"You feel any pain?" Isaac asks, my head shaking.

"That means the medicine is working."

I nod and feel a sharp pain shoot up my back right after, my lips releasing a yell.

"It's alright," Isaac whispers, entering a shot into my back to fade the pain.

My stomach starts to feel numb and Isaac tells me to start pushing, Harry grabbing my hand tighter. I push as hard as I can and I hear crying, my eyes watching Isaac cradle my baby. He brings the baby to my body and I cradle the little girl in my arms, holding her to me close.

"Oh little girl," I whisper, trying to calm her down.

Harry cuts her umbilical cord and I wrap her in a blanket, holding her close to me. Her dark brown hair curls and I carefully hold her head, my eyes on her.

"Mae," Harry whispers, my eyes looking up at him. I carefully hand the baby over to him and he takes care of her, looking at her with the brightest eyes. He's huge compared to the little baby, his forearm bigger than the length of her body.

"She's got big blue eyes," he sighs, so amazed by the little girl.

He holds her as Anne helps me get dressed and washed. I come out of the room and lay in my bed, holding my new baby.

"It's a girl," Harry says, the pack in the living room cheering.

I smile as she looks up at me, her blue eyes so bright. My finger brushes over her hair and I kiss her forehead, moving her to place a onesie on her little body.

She falls asleep in my arms and I look up to see Harry walking into the room, my arms moving her into his.

"I cannot tell you how much I love you," he whispers in my ear, kissing my cheek.

"You've given me happiness," he says, my hand touching his cheek. I pull his face down and kiss him, loving him.

"I still like Hope," I whispers, his head nodding.

"So do I," he says, looking back down at her.

Little Hope Styles.

______

I laugh as I wash Hope in the bathroom sink, her eyes wide as she giggles. She grabs her feet and I force her to let go, my other hand holding her head up.

I lift her up and wrap a towel around her, carrying her into Harry and I's bedroom in our own house. I lay her on the bed and set a new diaper on her body and a onesie. I run the towel over her thick little curls and lift her onto my chest, carrying her downstairs. Jack holds her while I make dinner, his recent affection towards the little girl making me curious as to why. Hope always relaxes in his arms, but as soon as Harry's in the room, she's crying for him.

I make ribs and set them on the table, along with mashed potatoes and veggies.

"Dinner," I say, the pack coming into the room. Hope is tightly held in Jack's arms and he says he's fine when I offer to take her, his actions towards the little girl something I've never seen before.

Harry walks into the room but Hope is fast asleep in Jack's arms. Harry takes her anyways, holding her to him carefully. He brushes through her hair and kisses her cheek, sitting down at the head of the table.

"We have new rogues coming in tomorrow. We're training them and we need to be ready," Liam explains, Harry smiling when Hope puts her fist on his mouth.

He opens her hand and kisses her fingers and I smile over at them, loving his behavior around her.

"God Harry, can you pay attention for one minute?" Louis laughs, Harry looking up from Hope.

"Hm, what did you say?" he asks, my lips releasing a laugh along with the other pack members.

"Let Mae have the baby so we can discuss this," Andy says, his eyebrows frowning as I make my way over to him. Hope is lifted into my arms and I take her to my seat, making her fall asleep as I brush her cheek.

As I stand, I walk to Harry and kiss his cheek. "I'm putting her to bed," I whisper, his head nodding. As soon as I put her down, Harry is in the doorway of our room.

"Dismissed the meeting. Needed to be with you," he smiles, my legs walking towards him. He grabs my cheeks and kisses me, my arms wrapping around his waist.

"I love you," I whisper, his lips on mine.

"I love you more," he goes, my head shaking. We bicker back and forth on who loves each other more, soon settled as Harry lifts me and kisses me on the bed. We settle down after that and eventually fall asleep, his arms holding me tightly.

The next morning, I make breakfast as Harry comes through Hope's hair, dresses her, and feeds her a bottle. The doorbell rings and Harry hands me the baby, his attendance to the door bringing in new wolves. There is a young boy in with them and I immediately wonder about him.

As soon as the entire pack is here, the little boy and the three other men talk.

"I'm Maddox, and this is my younger brother Cameron. He's seven and he's already transformed. It was the scariest thing I've ever dealt with, and now I take care of him because our parents were killed by hunters last year. We've been on our own since and need a place to stay with my two other brothers, Cole and Drew."

Harry nods and I see Cameron looking at me, my hand waving to him.

"Cameron, would you like to hold her?" I ask, his feet walking towards me. As soon as he looks at her, Hope looks at him and his eyes gloss over. Are they talking?

"Can I hold her? Hope?" he clarifies, my head nodding. He sits down and without a doubt looks at her differently. He holds her close and her eyes are looking at him, Jack watching curiously.

"Harry," I say, his body turning to look at me.

I tug him away from the pack and keep a close watch on Cameron.

"How young can you mate?" I ask, his eyebrows crunching.

"Why?"

"Curious," I reply, his eyes closing as he thinks.

"Well, any wolf that's already transformed can mark. Fate has it that you're set up with a mate once you're born; it's just the time between meeting that feels the longest," he explains, my eyes glancing over to the brown haired boy currently watching my daughter.

"Don't get mad but I think she's already set," I whisper, his body turning to look at the two.

"She's got a pack full of wolves to protect her. Now she already has her freaking mate," I mumble, my little girl only three months and already found the one she's destined to be with.

"I don't know how I feel about that," Harry whispers, my arms wrapping around him.

"Neither do I. At least we have a permanent babysitter," I say, his lips releasing a snort.

"Great," he says, my hand patting his bottom before he walks over to Cameron.

He whispers something in his ear and he nods, Harry pursing his lips.

"Mae, why is this little kid touching Hope?" Jack asks, clearly getting frustrated.

"Because he marked her," I say, his jaw dropping.

"She a baby though," he says, my shoulders shrugging.

"He's a wolf. It was bound to happen. It's just very early," I say, Jack sighing.

"I was hoping I was hers," he mumbles, my head shaking.

"You're seventeen years older than her. That's extreme," I say, his shoulders shrugging.

Harry.

"Daddy, can we go outside?" Hope asks, holding my hand as I walk around the house with her.

"What do you want to do outside?" I ask, the pack training still.

All of the wolves have mates, including Jack. He found her trapped by a hunter and saved her, loving her the instant he saw her. Her name's Laura and she has underwent training alongside Jack.

"Play with chalk," my four year old says, her hair pulled back into a ponytail that curls.

"Okay, let's go," I say, taking her outside. I grab her chalk and can't help but notice the paw-print mark currently residing on her foot.

"I'm going to draw you," she says, my lips curving.

"Okay," I grin, her hand drawing me to the best of her ability.

After playing with chalk for about an hour, Cameron walks towards her and she immediately runs to him. He lifts her up and kisses her cheek, smiling at her. I get up and walk inside, still not knowing how my daughter has her mate already.

"Mae, please calm me down," I whisper in her ear, wrapping my arms around her.

"Harry, you're fine. He's a good kid," she says, my eyes closing.

"I can't believe this though," I groan, her body turning. She grabs my cheeks and kisses me, my muscles relaxing.

"She's fine. He'll protect her," she whispers on my lips, her fingers warm.

I frown but she keeps kissing me, making me eventually smile. We got married shortly after Hope's first birthday, vowing to stay together forever.

"We're still her parents. She'll come to us first," she assures, my head nodding.

Cameron walks in holding Hope's hand and he lets her come to us, Mae lifting her up.

"How was training?" Mae asks, his head nodding.

"Okay. Pretty rough," he explains, his body already growing muscle in his young boy state. He'll hit puberty and he'll probably be as big as Jack.

"Do you want something to eat?" I ask him, his shoulders shrugging.

"Sure," he says, my hand making him a sandwich quickly. He thanks me and sits at the counter, Hope sitting next to him. I can see he cares about her in the way he looks at her. He really is her mate but I don't want her getting hurt.

She's my baby girl.
