Chapter 25

025

Lone Wolf (h.s au)

Hope.

I'm broken out of sleep when I hear something come into my room, my hand grabbing the lap. Carefully, I peer around the corner and I almost hit the person in the head. The lamp is caught in the hand and Cameron's big brown eyes meet mine, his lips curving.

"A lamp. Really?" he whispers, my eyes rolling.

"Don't scare me like that," I say, his hands grabbing my waist. He hugs me tightly and I close my eyes, his fingers wrapping around me tightly.

"Did you talk to your dad?" he asks, my head nodding.

"He said he knows me and I know him. I just want to know," I groan, falling back onto the bed. He sits on the bed beside me and I look up and him, his hand grabbing mine.

"It's a mate. Why do you want to know so bad?" he asks, my lips releasing a sigh. I sit up, looking at my bare foot.

"I'm marked and I don't know who my mate is. Cameron, I just want to know," I whisper, his lips releasing a sigh.

My head leans on his shoulder and he starts to remove his boots, my eyes closing as he wraps his arm around me.

"I don't want to wait anymore," he breathes out, my eyes opening to look up at him.

"I've had to be so careful about this but you need to know," he says, his head turning to look at me.

"Look," he says, my eyes looking down. I feel everything come at me at once when I see his mate mark in the same place as mine, my eyes quickly looking up to his.

"H-How?" I ask, bringing myself closer to him.

"When I was seven, I first met you," he says, my jaw dropping.

"I first shifted when I was six, way earlier than any other wolf. My brothers and I were rogues before your dad allowed us to enter the pack. You were three months," he explains, my heart pounding. I was only a baby.

"Your mom was holding you and I could feel it. I felt the pull, so she asked if I wanted to hold you. I nodded and walked over to you and I felt everything about you flash before me. I found my mate, and you were the one," he says, shifting his body to sit across from me.

"You never were afraid?" I ask, his head shaking.

"I never left. I wasn't afraid. All I needed was to see you every day and I was fine."

My head nods and I try to process everything, his head leaning towards me.

"I was there your entire life and I don't want to spend another day thinking you don't want me the same way I want you," he whispers, his hands moving to mine.

"You waited eighteen years," I whisper, his forehead pressing on mine.

"I know. Please don't make me wait any longer," he says, my head nodding.

"That's why you were so angry when MJ asked me out," I laugh, his lips curving as he nods.

I decide I don't want to wait any longer and I move onto him, wrapping my arms around his neck and holding him tightly. My hand winds into his curls and his arms wrap tightly around me.

My eyes close and I feel closer to him than I ever have before. His eyes look up at me and I smile, moving my hand to his cheek.

For the first time in my entire life, I kiss him. I'm far past accepting him and this is far overdue. His lips are soft and I can feel his beard brush my skin as he moves his lips against mine slowly. I don't bother pulling away after he bites my lower lip, my hands grabbing his cheeks to bring him closer.

He holds me close the entire time, his rough hands feeling me lightly.

"You won't believe how long I've wanted to do that," he whispers, his hands carefully rolling me onto my back, my eyes opening to meet his.

I smile, poking his nose lightly as he watches me. He smiles and looks at me, my hand running through his hair. He leans down again and I kiss him, my fingers running into his hair.

Once he pulls away, he rolls over and wraps his arms around me. I rest my head on his chest and my hand grabs his, holding it to my chest. I fall asleep easily.

The morning comes and I find myself alone in bed, my body climbing out and moving downstairs.

"Hope," my father says, grabbing my shoulder.

"What's wrong?" I ask, his hand pulling me into the pack room.

"I sent Cameron and Jack to go after the man who came here last week. But I got word from Jack this morning," he says, my heart falling. When did Cameron leave?

"Cameron is seriously injured. He was hit with wolfsbane in his side and he can't even move. I don't know where he is, but I sent Liam out for him," he starts but I hear Cameron.

The creek, Hope. Where I took you...help me.

I run out the door, my dad calling my name. Shifting, I run as fast as I can to Cameron and try to smell him. I run along the path and see his bare feet in the water, shifting quickly and running to him.

"Look at me," I say, his eyes rolling back but soon focusing on me.

It hurts so much, he writhes, my hand pulling the arrow out of his side. Quickly, I grab a rock and cut my palm, pressing my hand to his side.

You have to help me, he says, my head nodding. His hand grabs mine while my other heals his side, his bare body soon covered with his shorts again.

"Don't move. I'm calling the guys," I say, mind-linking the pack.

My hand lets go of his side and I move behind him, sitting him up but holding onto him. He coughs and I focus his eyes on me again, his body slipping into an unconscious state right before Liam and my dad show up. They lift him quickly and rush him to our house, my hand grabbing Cameron's.

"You know, don't you?" my dad says, my head nodding.

They lay him on the couch and Isaac walks in, helping him while I hold Cameron's head up. As Isaac takes care of him, he slowly moves his hand to mine and takes it from under his head.

"Hope," he whispers, my head coming close to his.

"What's wrong?" I ask, his eyes opening to look into mine.

"Can you...get me some water?" he asks, my head nodding.

After retrieving the water, Isaac gives Cameron some medicine and walk out. My mom is at Zayn's helping with their new baby so we couldn't really call on her. My dad sighs before he walks out of the room, my hand covering Cameron with a blanket.

"You feeling okay?" I ask, brushing his hair back.

"I'm fine. I needed you," he says, my hand grabbing his.

I kiss him, his lips slowly moving with mine. My head pulls away and I kiss his cheek, his lips curving. His cheeky smile makes me laugh and he wraps his arm around me, pulling me to him to be closer to me. I wouldn't want it any other way though.

______

A laugh leaves my lips, Cameron lifting me as soon as he catches up to me after running from him. He turns me in his arms and grabs my face with his hand, pressing his lips to mine while he holds my chin.

"Don't you run away from me," he tries, but I laugh and he shifts me so I can wrap my legs around his waist. My lips press to his again and he carries me up the stairs to his house.

"Do both," I whisper, unbuttoning his shirt.

"I'm not rushing you," he shakes his head, but I grab his face in my hands.

"I want to be yours. Please," I try again, his lips releasing a sigh. I kiss around his lips and poke his bottom lip, his lips curving.

"You're mine," he says, my lips curving as our lips meet again. I'm set on his bed and I smile when he shuts and locks the door, his body climbing on mine again. My hands run into his hair and our lips meet, his lips trailing down my neck. I close my eyes and feel the pain enter my neck, his teeth biting me in his claim.

I feel his tongue lick my wound and he presses his forehead to mine. "I'm sorry if it hurt."

I nod, feeling that if I talk, I'll cry. He kisses my eyelids and around my face, his gestures comforting.

"Let me make it up to you. Let me make love to you," he whispers, my eyes opening to meet his.

My fingers brush his lips before I nod, taking his shirt off. The night is amazing, his attentiveness to me long-lasting. No one was on my mind but him; his hands always holding mine.

My eyes lightly open, the light coming into the room causing my eyes to hurt. I feel my body covered by the sheet and I blush when I realize I had fallen asleep completely bare. Diverting my gaze to my foot, I see my pink painted toe nails with my paw-print and I wiggle my toes. A large foot with the same mark comes into my line of vision and a muscular arm wraps around me.

"Hi baby," he whispers, my lips curving as I close my eyes again.

"Hi," I whisper, his arm pulling me flush against his chest.

"You okay?" he asks, my head nodding.

"I'm fine. Perfect, actually," I smile, his head lifting to kiss my cheek.

"Can I say something to you?" he asks, my body turning to look at him.

"Of course," I smile, brushing his bearded cheek lightly.

"I love you. I don't even feel scared saying it because I've known since I first saw you I love you. I've just wanted to wait," he whispers, my lips curving.

I wrap my arms around him and kiss his face, his laugh husky as I do so. "I love you too," I smile, holding him close to me.

The upcoming weeks are eventful as I move into his house, his insistence met and my dad was surprisingly okay with it all. He didn't let go of me for ten minutes, but he eventually let me go. I promised I'd visit every day, kissing his cheek and telling him I love him before I left.

While I was making dinner, Cameron was sitting at the kitchen table but stopped to listen to something. He looks at me and I look over at him, his feet walking up to me.

"Don't move," he says, my body standing as he listens to something.

"Holy shit," he mumbles, my eyebrows frowning. His ear presses to my stomach and he smiles, my eyebrows furrowing together.

"Hope, are you pregnant?" he asks, my shoulders shrugging.

"Have you been sick? Did you have your thing yet?" he asks, feeling my stomach.

"Yes and no," I realize, his hand covering my stomach.

"Oh, God, my dad's going to kill me," I say, his arms wrapping around me.

"Not if I tell him," he says, my eyes looking at him.

"Especially if you tell him," I say, his head shaking.

"Not if I explain how I love you and have no intentions of letting you go," he explains, kissing my temple.

I sigh and relax, his fingers brushing against my stomach. We eat and get some rest before we go to my parent's house, Cameron by my side.

"Hope," my mom smiles, hugging me as the two of us enter the room with her.

"What's up?" she asks, but dad walks into the room and hugs me tightly, Cameron gasping.

"What? She's my daughter," dad jokes, Cameron calming down with a hug from my mom.

We go into the kitchen and Cameron sets his hand on my waist, my nerves calming slightly.

"Uh, dad," I try, his head moving to look at me.

"What's up?" he asks, stopping what he's doing to look at me.

"I-I, uh, I have something I need to tell you," I say, his head nodding.

"I'm pregnant," I rush, his eyes staring at me. Mom quickly comes and grabs his hand, his face holding no expression.

"What?" he says, my heart dropping.

"Cameron and I are having a baby," I try, his face crunching up as he looks at Cameron.

"Don't fucking think about leaving her," he states, my mom attempting to calm him down.

"I wouldn't dream of it Alpha. I've been here her whole life," he assures, my father's muscles loosening and he takes a deep breath.

"That's great news," mom smiles, letting go of dad and hugging me. I let go of her and go to dad, his arms wrapping around me tightly.

"Please don't forget about me," he whispers, my arms wrapping around him.

"Never, daddy, never."

Harry.

I hear a knock on the door and I walk to it, Hope on the other side. I pull her inside quickly and she laughs, my arms cradling my only baby girl.

"I've missed you," I whisper, kissing the top of her head.

"I missed you too," she says, two arms wrapping around my leg.

"So did Eli," she smiles, the little boy looking up at me. The three year old is lifted into my arms and I kiss his cheek, his blue eyes from Hope.

"Where's my munchkin?" I ask, Eli playing with my hair.

"Cam has her at home," she says, but Cameron soon enters the house with Leila in his arms.

"She does not sleep. I give up," he says, my lips curving.

"Eli!" Mae cheers, the little boy wiggling. I let him go and he runs to her, lifting him and hugging him tightly.

"Pa!" Leila says, waddling over to me. I lift her into my arms, the 18 month baby so chubby.

Her brown curls are adorable and I kiss her face, lifting her and lightly tossing her to get her to laugh.

I hold her close to my body and I look over at Mae, her smile bright as Eli talks to her. My lips curve as I adore her. Without Mae, I would have never had this life.

I owe it all to her.
