Lone Wolf (h.s au)
Harry's frown is present as I walk into the living room, his plaid shirt barely buttoned on his chest. He gets up and just walks right out of the house, my eyebrows frowning when I see Anne holding a crying Gemma.
I walk out in curiosity and she rushes to me, Gemma showing me she was marked.
"Who?" I ask, my eyes now noticing the smile on her face. Happy tears, not sad.
"Alex," she smiles, "he's in a pack two cities over. He came here last night and it happened. Oh I'm so excited."
I hug her and Harry pulls me away after, his hands forcing my arms to wrap around his neck. He runs and shifts, running quickly through the woods. I don't know where we're going but I know he's upset about something, most likely his sister.
He stops and I get off him, his body shifting up and he pulls me to him.
"He's going to hurt her," he states, holding my waist tightly.
"No he won't. He's her mate. They won't hurt each other," I try, but he has clear protection over his sister.
"He looked at her like she was a piece of meat," he grits, my arms wrapping around his neck.
"The way he looks at her was probably out of adoration. You don't necessarily have relationship experience," I counter.
He huffs and I grab his cheeks, my eyes prodding into his.
"Don't be angry. You'll still see her," I say, his lips pouting.
I poke his lower lip, causing a shy smile to appear on his lips.
"Stop. I'm trying to be angry," he says, my lips releasing a laugh.
"Okay, Harry," I smile, unwrapping my arms but he pulls me back.
"Wait, I want to ask you something," he says, my arms wrapping around his neck.
"Okay."
He sighs before looking in my eyes, piercing gaze held. "Will you go on a date with me?"
I smile and nod, his lips curving. "Really? Because I thought you were going to say no," he says, my head shaking.
"I'd love to go on a date with you," I tell him, his dimples on full show.
"Okay, uh, do you have somewhere you would like to go? I haven't been to the city in a while," he says, my head nodding.
"I have a place," I smile, his head nodding.
He grabs my hand and we start walking through the woods, my body staying beside him.
"How come you don't always wear a shirt?" I ask, his head looking down at me.
"It's hard to carry stuff. It's better I don't wear one," he explains, my head nodding.
"Harry!" He turns around and Niall runs toward him.
"What's wrong?" Harry rushes, his face turned into an angry expression.
"Alpha found out you killed his son. He found out Mae's gone and now he's after you both," he rushes, Harry nodding before he grabs my hands.
I wrap my arms around my neck and Harry shifts, running quickly. He runs past his cabin and continues running for a really long time, my hands holding his fur.
We come along the border of the woods and he runs towards the city, my eyebrows frowning as to why he would be. Once he stops, the city is just out of reach and he shifts.
"Come on," he says, taking my hand and walking in.
"Aren't you going to warn your mother? Your sister?" I ask, his head nodding.
"I already did," he says, my head shaking.
"No you didn't."
He smirks, my eyebrows frowning.
"Wolves have telepathy. I can talk to both because they are wolves. Gemma refuses to shift because she hated her transformation and my mum doesn't because she doesn't know how anymore."
My lips form an 'o' and he smiles, kissing my cheek before we walk into the city. I lead him to a restaurant and we walk in, his hand pulling my waist closer to him.
"Table for two please," I say, the man's head nodding.
We walk to our table and order drinks, Harry grabbing my hand.
"This is cool," he says, my lips curving.
"And it's good too," I say, his eyes gleaming at me.
I look around the room and my eyes widen, connecting with someone I haven't seen in a while. She immediately gets up and rushes to me, leaving her friend confused.
"Mae, are you okay? I've been worried sick," my mom says, pulling me into her arms.
"I'm fine mom. After everything, I'm fine," I say, her arms holding me close.
"Where have you been? Are you insane?" she asks, my lips pursing.
"Harry's been taking care of me," I say, signaling over to him. She looks at him and he stands, introducing himself. I see something flash in her eyes and she looks at me.
"Where is it?" she asks, my eyebrows frowning.
"What are you talking about?" I ask, her hand grabbing my arm.
"He's Des' son. Where's the mark?" she asks, my jaw dropping as well as Harry's.
"You know my father?" he asks, her head nodding.
"I grew up with Anne and when she met Des, Des introduced me to Jim," she explains, Harry's eyebrows frowning.
"Where's the mark?" she asks me again.
I move my hair up and she touches the paw-print, my body moving back to look at her.
"Now I understand why you didn't come home for weeks," she says, my hand taken in Harry's.
"How far are you?" she asks Harry, my eyes looking up at him.
"Acceptance," he states, my mother nodding.
"Why are you off land?"
"Dad's after us," I blurt, her eyes widening.
"Did he touch you?" she whispers, my head nodding.
"He choked her," Harry grits, "had Dean kidnap her while I dealt with him."
My mother frowns and we move into a booth, her body in front of Harry and me.
"I had to stay locked in a room but Harry's alliance got me out. Dad choked me the first day and then once more because I resisted talking to him and his bitch," I say, my mother scowling at me while Harry smiles.
"Does she look good?" mom asks, my head shaking.
"She's got black hair, brown eyes, olive skin; wears skin tight clothes. She looked like she used to get around," I say, Harry laughing.
"Sorry," he says, completely serious.
I smile at him and he wraps his arm around my shoulders, my mom smiling at us.
"You are ten times better than she is. I put her in place," I say, her lips curving.
"That's my girl."
"Oh, mom, do you think we can stay at your house for a while. We need a safe place and I don't think dad will come to your house, no offense."
"None taken. And stay as long as you want."
I smile and she leaves us to ourselves, Harry thanking me for finding us a place to stay. My lips press to his cheek and I move to sit across from him, his hand moving to hold mine again.
The waiter comes with our drinks and I order a burger, looking up at Harry.
"Uh, I'll take a double bacon cheese burger and an order of chili fries," he says, handing the menu to the server.
"I'm going to starve tonight," he sighs, my lips releasing a laugh.
"Oh wolfie," I smile, his lips curving.
"Hey, I have a question," I say, his head nodding.
"How old are you?" I ask, his teeth biting his lower lip.
"21," he says, my head nodding.
"Now, I have a question," he says, my eyes looking in his.
"Do you and your mother get along?"
I nod. "For the most part. She kept me in the house most of the time. Most likely for wolf and mating reasons," I realize, his head nodding.
"I remember her. She visited my mother a few times when I was younger."
Our food comes relatively quickly and I watch Harry dig in, his mouth eating the burger in nearly four bites.
"I told you. It gets messy," he says, my lips curving.
"It's fine. I don't mind," I tell him, his lips curving as he wipes his mouth with a napkin. He starts his chili fries and I finish up my burger, his eyes on me the entire time.
"Your mum says she'll see you at home," he tells me, my eyes looking up at her. She waves and I wave back, looking at Harry.
"Can you hear my thoughts?" I ask, his fingers fiddling with mine.
"No. And it pisses me off," he mumbles, my lips pressing together.
"How would you be able to?" I ask, his lips releasing a sigh.
"Claiming," he groans, coming back to the one thing he hates.
I only nod, holding his over the table. I pay the check and lead him out of the restaurant, his hand keeping me close to him.
"Do you need me to get you anything? Clothes? Food?" I ask, his eyes casted downward.
"I'd need clothes but you shouldn't pay for them," he says, my head shaking.
"No. I'll get you whatever you need," I assure him, his lips pouted lightly to make him look irresistible.
"Come on," I say, tugging his hand into the closest store. We look through numerous shorts before he settles on a few jean shorts and a couple tee shirts. I buy them for him and I lead him to my mother's house, his arm around my shoulders while I hold his hand.
He kisses my temple and I smile, leading him up the stairs to my front door.
When I walk in, I lead him upstairs to my bedroom and he smiles when he sees it.
"This is cute," he says, my eyes rolling.
"It's the same color as when I was six." The bright pink walls covered by pictures now, my bedsheets a navy blue.
"Very social I see," he says, looking over the pictures.
"I loved being with my friends. We grew up together," I smile, his head turning to look at me.
"You had boyfriends?" he asks, my head nodding and I lay back on my bed.
"Two. My first was pretty serious. We dated for three years but we broke up because of long distance and what not. Then I just started a relationship and he was sadly killed by a wolf," I frown, Harry sitting on the bed beside me as I look up at him.
"Did you love them?" he asks, frowning slightly.
"I thought I loved Vinnie, my first boyfriend, but I realized it wasn't that. I didn't feel that...spark. And with Russ, it wasn't all that serious so I didn't really know if it was love or not. So to answer your question, no. I did not love them," I say, his head nodding.
"Have you ever had sex?" he asks, my eyes looking up at him to see his eyes intensely looking at me.
"No. Have you?"
His jaw clenches and I watch anger cover his features. This isn't about my question. His wolf instincts are present.
"Stay here," he states, swinging my door open. His feet stomp down the stairs and I grab hold of my sleeves, anxious at what's going on. I hear him lock the doors in the house and he walks back upstairs, closing the door behind him.
"Sorry," he says, my head shaking.
"It's fine," I whisper, his arm wrapping around my shoulders.
"And no, to answer your question. That's something I'm giving to my mate," he says, my eyes looking up at him. His green eyes are soft and I smile, blushing heavily at his words.
"Harry, I just don't know what I need to do for you. I'm still new at this," I tell him, his hand moving to my cheek.
"Don't worry. I'll help you," he says, kissing my forehead.
