Chapter 32
Marrying
Chapter 32
Charles turned around and was met Matthewâs cold gaze, and felt Matthew was saying, âIâll silence you if you donât comply!
T
Forcing himself to stay calm, Charles could only swallow hard and flash a smile at Valerie, shaking her hand. âMiss Warren, nice to meet you, too.â
Valerie thought Matthewâs leader was quite easyâgoing. âYou also work for Noria Group? May I know your name?â
Charles suddenly became uncertain. âYes, emm⦠I work at Noria Group. My name isâ¦â He looked toward Matthew as he spoke. âMr. Grant, say something! Just donât blame me if you expose yourself.
Luckily, Matthew helped him this time. âHeâs Mr. Charles Hudson, one of our company leaders.â
Valerie felt Matthewâs attire luxurious, so it turned out that his boss was a leader of the Noria Group. Noria Group was the top conglomerate in Kranson City and also ranks among the leading groups nationwide; the income of its management was probably something Valerie could never reach in her lifetime, no matter how hard she worked, so she felt it wasnât surprising that Charles had a private driver.
Thinking about this, Valerie was instantly a bit more polite to Charles. âMr. Hudson, are you feeling a bit hot? I see you are sweating all over your head. It just so happens that I have brought paper towels here.â
âNo, no, no.â Charles was helpless. He was more than hot right now, he was on the verge of freaking out.
âButâ¦â Valerie was puzzled.
Fortunately, Matthew stopped her at this moment. âDonât worry about it. Mr. Hudson has an urgent meeting next, and if we delay any longer we might be late. Right, Mr. Hudson?â
Matthew looked toward Charles as he spoke, and Charles instantly felt saved. âAh, yes, yes. The meeting will start soon. I gotta go now or I will be
late.â
After that, Charles walked away as if something terrifying was chasing him behind him.
As soon as Charles left, Matthew gestured. âIâll take you home.â
This was the Noria Groupâs venue, and things would get messy later if someone from the Noria Group passed by and revealed his identity. Moreover, he vaguely felt that Valerie didnât look in good spirits. It seemed that although she had taught Isabel a lesson in the venue, she was still frightened.
Valerie shook her head. âNo, I have to go back to the office.â
âYou look so pale. You should go back and rest.â Matthew insisted on taking her home.
Valerie was instantly surprised at his words and looked at Matthew in shock. She didnât expect Matthew to see that she was in a bad state. Although his face was cold, he was quite caring.
But she shook her head again. âThere are still two hours to the end of the shift and absenteeism will result in a deduction of money. Anyway, itâs only two hours, I can hold on. Deducting money would be too much of a lossâ¦â
Money, money, money! She only cares about money. Even though she isnât in good spirits, she still worries about her money. She really is a mercenary woman.â For some reason, Matthew was upset. âIf you fall sick, you wonât be able to go to work tomorrow or the day after, which one will make you lose more?â
Valerie finally compromised. âThen Iâll take a leave,â
Matthew finally felt a bit better. âIâll take you home,â
Valerie was surprised. âBut arenât you working? It wonât be good if Mr. Hudson canât find you after his meeting.â
âItâs okay. This meeting will end very late,â said Matthew.
âButâ¦â
Seeing that she was going to push back, Matthew interrupted her directly, âMr. Hudson is very easyâgoing. He wonât mind.â
Charles wouldnât dare mind.
âCome on.â He directly led Valerie in the direction of the parking lot.
Unable to resist him, Valerie could only keep up obediently, while in her heart, she couldnât help but say, âHow come heâs so tough even when he cares about others?â
However, Valerie was indeed not feeling well. Dealing with Isabel was too mentally draining, she just wanted to work hard to earn some money, and

she really wasnât suited for dealing with this kind of scheming. After her pregnancy, she became increasingly drowsy and even felt exhausted from standing for a long time.
Last time she was thinking about how to arrange her future, and now she had to consider it even more carefully. As she drifted off, she was led to a Land Rover by Matthew. She froze at once.
