Chapter 395
Marrying
Chapter 395
Louis was shocked. He recalled Matthewâs unwavering determination when he had intercepted him in the parking lot. Perhaps Matthew truly meant what he said. He might indeed be sincere about Valerie and not just playing around with her. This revelation unsealed him deeply.
Meanwhile, not far away, Angel had overheard their conversation. She couldnât help clenching her fists tightly. Her nails dug deep into her flesh, and she was unaware of the pain.
Angel thought, Is Matthew really going to reveal the truth to Valerie?â
Watching Olivia and Max emerge from the hall, Matthew headed towards Olivia. Angel felt her heart racing uncontrollably. Her mind raced. âNo, this canât happen! I wonât accept it, not at any cost!!
Then, a sudden crash startled everyone. It was the sound of a wine glass hitting the ground.
Olivia was just emerging from the hall. She heard the sound and turned towards Angel. There she saw Angel, holding her injured hand, blood dripping from her fingers.
âAngel, what happened?â Olivia exclaimed in shock. She quickly walked toward Angel. âOh dear, youâre bleeding. Letâs bandage that up quickly. How did this happen?â
Angel quickly stepped forward and embraced Olivia. Her shoulder was trembling as tears streaming down her face. She wiped her tears and said, âIâm fine, I just⦠I just thought about Sarah, she was about my age, and so unfortunate⦠I was overcome with grief and lost myself for a momentâ¦
Olivia was taken aback. Her eyes also became teary. She gently patted Angelâs back. âYouâre so thoughtful, my dear. But please be careful, donât hurt yourself. Letâs go and get that hand bandaged right awayâ
Angel nodded tearfully, clinging to Oliviaâs arm, and said affectionately. Thank you, Olivia, for being so curing. From now on, please think of me as Sarah, and I will take care of you as she would haveâ
Over the years, Olivia had indeed come to see Angel as a part of Sarah. Hearing Angel say this warmed her heart, tears nearly welling up in her eyes as she nodded softly. âAlright⦠alright!
With this exchange, the two embraced tightly, leaving no room for anyone else to intervene.
Matthewâs gaze turned cold as he fixed his eyes on Angel. No matter what Angel did, he felt she had ulterior motives. He suspected that she hurt herself on purpose.
Meanwhile, Valerie had finished resting. Absentmindedly sipping water, she hadnât noticed what was happening nearby. Walking over, she saw Olivia chatting with Angel. Valerie said, âMr. Redfield, Mrs. Anderson, itâs getting late. Iâm ready to leave now,â
Olivia had initially wanted to keep Valerie for a chat, but seeing Angelâs distressed look, she nodded to Valerie. Take care on your way back. Visit us
next time.â
Valerie smiled politely, neither confirming nor denying future visits. She didnât have much connection with the Anderson family. Yet, if the opportunity arose, she wouldnât mind seeing Olivia again. Valerie had admired the paintings on the wall just now. She had loved painting since childhood but hadnât had many chances to study it
However, she quickly dismissed the thought. She would soon be busy with her new job. She wouldnât have much free time when she went to Redfield Pictures. She would think about learning painting in the future.
Valerie bid farewell to the two elders and left.
Watching Valerie walk away, Angel felt a secret joy in her heart as if she had won a battle. However, Matthew immediately said, âMrs. Anderson, I should also take my leave.
Olivia nodded repeatedly. âOkay. Despite your busy schedule, thank you for coming to see Sarah. She would appreciate it. Itâs getting late. You should go home.â
Olivia thought Matthew was heading back to the Grant familyâs residence. Only Angel knew Matthew was likely going after Valerie.
Angel had worked hard to stop Matthew from telling Olivia the truth. If Matthew and Valerie confessed later, all her efforts would be in vain. Her hand injury would have been for nothing.
âMatthew⦠She couldnât help but pout, wanting to say her hand hurt and ask him to take her home,
But before she could speak, Matthew glanced at her. âYou got hurt today. Why not stay here with Mrs. Anderson? Youâve been missing Sarah, havenât you? Spend some time with her.â
Angel was left speechless. She thought, What did he mean spend some time with Sarah Sheâs dead
already!â
