Khwahish- Epilogue

Mehr-o-Mah | مہر و ماہ ✓

*****

"Maeen, please nahi rona!"

Masar pleaded the 2 year old who's lips were already wobbling and her eyes were a second away from shedding those precious pearls that humans called tears.

"Baba!"

She protested with an angry look before delivering a sharp slap on Masar's cheek. Masar felt the prick of betrayal in his heart stronger than her slap on his face.

Dramatic? Yes.

But come on, the guy was now a proud father of the angel in front of him but it seems like the angel was in a sour mood since her baba decided to eat her chocolates in front of her eyes!

Now that's what a traitor would do.

How rude!

"I know, I know. You are angry but baba is feeling extremely guilty. Please baba ko maaf kardo. I promise, I'll bring you another box as soon as possible. Pretty please."

Masar pouted towards the end and widened his eyes as if sealing the promise and Maeen just cocked her head to the side with a cute frown on her face. Her chubby cheeks were losing the little bit of redness that had appeared on them due to her angry and sad state and her eyes were no longer overflowing with tears.

"Baba?"

Masar smiled a smitten smile and quickly pulled her in his embrace. His light stubbled tickled her soft skin and little Maeen let out loud and pleasant giggles that made Masar feel on top of the world.

"Ji baba ki jaan. I'll bring your chocolates before you know it."

Saying that, he placed a kiss on her forehead and cute Maeen snuggled more into her father's protective embrace. Masar ran a hand across her back, lulling her gently back to sleep and Maeen soon closed her beautiful eyes before catching the train to her dreamland that was filled with the chocolates stolen by her baba.

Masar slumped down on the plush bed, careful enough to not make any sounds or move his hand that might wake his princess up. He smiled down at a sleeping Maeen, a feeling of disbelief was still there in his heart as to how he got lucky enough to be handed down the two of the most precious people that anyone could meet.

Four years of bliss with his Queen, his Ezah and two year since little Maeen stepped into the world. The gracious presence of their daughter brought more than a few baraqahs with it. The happiness that surrounded the married couple seemed to have been multiplied many times, their lives, their goals, all seemed to have hit the bullseye as Faeezah had now become one of the most prominent authors out there. Her first book hit different records everyday and each time was higher than the previous one.

Masar had taken over his father's company three years back and to say the business was running smoothly would be an understatement. The grip that the Abidi corps had in the business sector was unbeatable.

Alhumdulillah, life had given the two something they had never imagined and Insha'Allah, more happiness and success were about to come in the nearby future.

"Masar?"

Masar smiled, a mischievous idea forming in his brain all of a sudden and he quickly but gently laid down on the bed with Maeen tucked securely on his chest and closed his eyes, waiting for his Ezah to wake him up with her sweet kisses and gentle caresses.

Sneaky much? But what could he do. It was hours ago when Faeezah had last hugged him for crying out loud and the man was getting desperate for a little bit of attention from his wife.

Not a crime. Is it?

Faeezah entered the room with a tray filled with breakfast for her husband and daughter. Maeen's bottle of milk alongside a bowl of cereal and some fruits were placed along with Masar's garam chai and parathe.

The two were as lazy as one could be and Faeezah was sure that Maeen had inherited the trait from her father.

Well, her daughter was a carbon copy of her father when it came to her dramatics.

Faeezah rolled her eyes when she found the two still tucked in bed, and with determined steps, she placed the tray on the table and walked up to her sleeping yet awake husband.

"Masar, utho ab. Der ho rahi hai."

School jana hai kya mujhe?

Masar bit his tongue to not utter the reply out loud and pretended to be in deep sleep with a few oh so fake snores.

Faeezah huffed in annoyance at the grown man and carefully pulled a sleeping Maeen away from Masar who visibly frowned at his wife's gesture. Faeezah gently laid Maeen in the baby pink coloured crib that was surrounded by her daughter's soft toys.

When the little thing was not hugging her baba, she'd be snuggling with those soft materials.

Masar waited for a good few minutes for Faeezah to return back to waking him up but when he heard no sounds, he slowly peeked from one of his lashes but instantly regretted doing so when he found his Ezah staring down at him with a raised eyebrow and her arms crossed across her torso.

Looks like his wife was pretty smart after all.

Chuckling sheepishly at her, he quickly sat up and didn't give his wife a chance to say something before he pulled her to him. Faeezah shrieked in surprise as she fell on his lap and Masar had the audacity to smile cheekily at her.

She narrowed her eyes at him but Masar only flicked her nose before placing a sweet kiss on the tip of her nose that turned red due to the sudden blush that spread across her whole form.

"Sone ka natak kyu kar rahe the?"

Masar shrugged lightly and hugged her tight before rubbing the tip of his nose across the length of her neck in response to which Faeezah shivered in his hold. Masar sighed and placed a soft kiss at the junction of her neck and kept his head buried there for a good minute.

"Masar, breakfast thanda ho jayega."

Faeezah whispered to him but he was currently having his relaxing session, so he shushed her lightly and laid her down on the bed. Faeezah gulped down the sudden lump that had formed in her throat as she watched Masar getting on top of her. The latter gave her a small smile before snuggling into her and within seconds, he was out like a candle flame during a heavy wind.

Faeezah bit the insides of her cheek to stop the giggle from escaping as she observed her cute husband. The man was now 27 yet behaved like the same old Masar whom she had fallen in love with.

Not that she was complaining. Her life would be too boring without him being in the centre of it all. Her eyes drifted to her daughter, who true to Feaezah's assumptions was suffocating the cute white colour fluffy teddy bear that Masar had gifted her not long ago.

Her life felt blissfully complete and she couldn't be anymore thankful to the best of the planners.

*****

"Mama?"

"Abhi nahi Maeen. Tumhare baba ki wajah se pehle hi bahot late ho gaya hai."

Faeezah complained to the 2 year old who just gave her a funny look before going back to sucking the nipple of her milk bottle.

"Meri wajah se?"

Masar asked with wide eyes as he pointed at himself. Maeen giggled at her baba's antics, spilling a little amount of milk on her dress and that resulted in Faeezah giving her best glare to the 6'3 man who was now smiling sheepishly at the two females in the room.

"Masar!"

Faeezah whined in annoyance before removing a different set of clothes for Maeen who seemed oblivious to her mama's anxiety-filled state.

"Ezah, itna kyu stress le rahi ho. It's just a simple interview."

"Simple? Masar, it'll be a live broadcast. I am not even prepared for the questions they might ask, agar maine kuch gadbad kardi toh?"

Masar scowled at the frightened tone in her voice. Today was a big day for her since her second book, 'Road to eternity' had become the best selling book of the year and today, for the first time she'd be giving a live interview with viewers from all over the world.

Masar got up from the couch and gently pulled Faeezah to himself who was now looking extremely nervous and worried, a combination that Masar didn't like on his ever confident Ezah.

"Ezah, take deep breaths. Everything will be just fine. Itna ghabrao gi toh tabyat par asar padega."

He placed a kiss on her forehead and Faeezah found her stiff muscles relaxing in his protective embrace. She hugged him tight and Masar gladly returned the favour.

"Baba!"

Maeen whined from her crib and her parents chuckled at the angry pout on her face.

How dare her parents hug each other without her in the picture?

That's plain rude and that made little Maeen glare cutely at her parents, who tried not to laugh at her red face and wobbling lips.

"Aww, baba ki jaan. I was about to hug you too."

Masar took Maeen in his arms and Faeezah kissed her daughter's forehead and watched how the angry pout turned into a bright smile.

"Chale abhi ya phir aur rukne ka irada hai?"

Masar's question was met with an eye roll from Faeezah who quickly held Maeen in her arms and walked out of the room, leaving a smiling Masar behind.

*****

"And that was Mrs. Faeezah Masar Abidi everyone. Please give her a big round of applause and we wish you keep giving us many more beautiful storylines in the upcoming future. With that, today's show comes to an end. See you all next week with another rising star and the journey of their life."

Faeezah watched how everyone cheered for her and smiled in gratefulness. A few thank yous, hand shakes and selfies later, Faeezah sighed in relief as she made it to the green room where her husband and daughter were sitting with proud smiles on their faces.

"Maeen, mama looked phenomenal on the stage, didn't she?"

Masar asked with a surprised tone to his daughter and Maeen had no idea what he was talking about but seeing the bright shine in her father's eyes, she could only nod her head in utter enthusiasm.

"Mama!"

Maeen called out to her mother and made grabby hands while Masar frowned at the sudden change of sides. A second ago she was enjoying his company and was now ready to jump towards her mother?

Oh how two faced these kids were.

Faeezah laughed at the two and took hold of Maeen who kissed her mama's cheek before placing her head on her shoulder. Masar watched in awe as the two most prominent females in his life interacted with hand gestures and wide eyes and his heart that felt full to the brim was now overflowing with contentment and happiness.

Masar walked up to the two and hugged Faeezah from behind and she leaned her back on his chest while Maeen continued playing with her mama's long hair that were fascinating her to no end.

"Masar?"

"Hmm?"

"I love you."

Masar smiled widely down at Faeezah who was already gazing at him with a love struck look. Nuzzling the tip of his nose with hers, he gently pecked her lips a few times before tightening his hold on her waist.

"I love you more."

THE END

**********

Putting the 'The end' sign in the end did something to my heart. I have no idea why I am feeling what I am feeling but damn, these two surely have secured a special place in my heart.

How was your experience of Khwahish? Did you enjoy it enough to give it a re-read someday?

Ahh! The 1st tale ends here but many more are yet to come. A break of 2-3 weeks, since the education system is a little cruel and I know nothing, and then I'll be back with the next story Insha'Allah.

That's all for now! Love you all for all the support that you have showed this story and it's time to move on. Pretty please hold onto the ride since we will be stopping at another station very soon.
