Chapter 13

"Strange Occurrence"

"As you may all know, up until now, we have kept a very special tradition that only us are known for, which is, of course, the blessing of the imperial orb, and since its finally your time to experience this miracle, let us start our grand ceremony. So may all of the debutants line in the center and claim your blessing. "

Quickly, as everyone could, they formed a line eager to finally get the blessing, and I immediately joined with Jullios behind me.

This is honestly exciting. It's like im really fully part of this world now by being connected to their tradition.

For us debutants to receive this blessing, we have to wait patiently, and when its finally your turn, you are tasked to passed through that golden door, and whats more thrilling is, only one person gets to go inside with no company facing the orb while it was described that a light will shine once you touched it and youll feel the sensation of the glow.

Since the blessing of the imperial orb is one of the novels introduction through the story between our two main characters, this was the part of the chapter where both them came in a little bit late and by the time it was the heroine's turn the orb blessed her to make her holy power stronger making her candidacy as the saintess stronger, which truly made the emperor very happy since someone received the orbs miracle at such an early time.

One of the reasons why this ceremony is regarded as important in this empire was because a long time ago before this land came to be as it is now, 3 Gods came into this soil and the most powerful god amongst them produced the first life which was the lineage of the imperial family, the grand duke and duke bloodline, and one day two of the gods decided to create their own people by making regular humans beings who does not attain the same attributes like the first creations, but they also expiremented which led to the formation of mages, priest and a saintess.

With the guidance of the gods and the obedience of the people, they were able to start small and make this empire into the great nation that it is known now, and the reason why this ceremony is only held once a noble is at the age of 18 was because before the 3 Gods left, they gave all of the authority to the first 3 creations, but since the god had favorites they were seperated by ranks.

The last thing before they departed was they gave the child who had the highest authority an orb that possess all the 3 powers of the gods and he was told once he turned 18 he will receive great blessings, miracles, and prosperity so with that he decided he wanted to share its gift and let everyone who turns 18 to experience the same as he did, but since the evolution of monarchy and aristocracy rised only nobles were limited to receive the blessing, which was honestly sad,  but im not suprised since even in my world inequality between statuses exist.

When it was finally my time to enter the room after the long minutes of waiting, i walked in inside. All i could see was pitch darkness with no light source to be found, until as i kept heading forward, i finally saw the great orb.

I went closer, hmm, so this is what it looks like. Honestly, i was expecting more since it was heavily praised in the novel, but i guess it is what it is.

Then i placed my hands on them and seconds later it glowed so beautifully removing everything that was dark and showed a golden beauty of light, my eyes couldnt stop admiring its power but as time passes something felt off, suddenly out of nowhere an extension of black mist followed the glow and the golden light disappeared.

I was taken aback about everything that occurred. "Just now... , what exactly happened?!"

I walked out uneasy, but i ignored it, thinking that it must be normal in my case since im not really the grand duchess, so the orb must've detected it and did that.

But through all the excuses that i made, it didn't sit right with me.

I continued walking but kept overthinking about everything. Then, in the feels of the moment, i was surprised that Jullios came close to me, asking.

"Hey, you're not leaving without even saying goodbye to me, are you?"

"Ohh, ahh no, I wasn't planning on departing just yet since i promised i would wait for you at least."

He felt relieved, "It makes me happy you kept your words."

"Anyways, it's getting late now. Maybe i should go, and since you're finished, i practically have nothing to do, so." I faked my yawning. "I should rest cause im a little bit sleepy."

He looked disappointed, "But the debutante ball hasnt ended, and besides, you haven't danced with me yet."

"Sorry, but i promise next time you'll be my first dance."

He sighed, "I get it, but, promise me, ok?"

"I promise."

He smiled, "Then have a safe journey back, Cynthia."

"Thank you Jullios, and farewell."

I waved my hands goodbye and left the ball.

As much as i want to tell him something, i just can't burden him with my problems, and besides mybe im just deluding all of this, ill probably forget about it in the morning so lets just rest for now.
