Chapter 49
Rebirth of the Wife in Despair by Tess Munoz
Chapter 49 I Want To See Just How Tough She Is!
âAre you seriously bargaining with me right now?â Will frowned.
âYou were the one who broke your promise, Dad! Iâm already a young adult. Can you not make every decision for me? I am not your puppet.â Eileen argued with sheer frustration.
âSo what!â Will slammed the spoon in his hand onto the table. âI raised you and this is how you treat me? Donât forget who was the one who raised you! Donât ask for a single cent from me if you dare!â
Eileenâs eyes trembled. âSo, if I donât stay here in this house, and not spend a single cent of yours, you wonât interfere in anything I do?â
âOh, now youâre asking for it, arenât you? Havenât you learned your lesson last time? If you want to die, I will make it happen for you!â Will stood up, his belt from his trousers had already been pulled out.
Will had always been strict about his rules. But it was the first time being so angry towards Eileen.
Elsie attempted to stop him in a hurry: âWhat are you doing, Will? Sheâs just speaking in anger. I will persuade her, donât worry.â
âEileen, apologize to your father now!â
Eileen: âWhy do I have to apologize? Beat me to death if you have the guts to! Why should I have to be at your mercy?â
Sharon frantically stood up to protect Eileen. âWhat nonsense are you saying, Eileen? Your father is only doing this for your own good.â
âFor my own good? Why do you keep saying itâs for my own good? Since I was a child, I had to get permission for everything from him. What kind of father is like him? If my mom was still around, she wouldnât do this to me!â
Will walked over to her, and landed a fierce slap onto her face. âYour mother was a b*tch! I should have strangled you to death when she gave birth to you! You think youâre all that? Get out of this house if you dare and donât ever come back!â
Fileen felt her cheek go numb, followed by a sharp pain. She could feel her face swelling up âIf you say so Win âGet out!â
âStay back! No one is allowed to go after her. If I find out whoever is helping her, I will chase them out too!â
Eileen was still dressed in her pajamas and sandals. She did not have anything with her.
The whole dining area was immersed in a dreadful atmosphere.
Will sat down in his chair angrily. âEat your food!â
Sharon looked worriedly at Eileenâs silhouette who had already run away far from the door of the house.
Elsie put some food on Willâs plate and said: âWill, what are you thinking, fighting with your daughter so early in the morning?
Eileen is still young, she doesnât understand your good. intentions. She doesnât have anything with her, where is she even going to go?â
âEric, go and bring Eileen back! What if something happens to her...â
Before Eric could say anything, Sharon chimed in: âIâll go! Eileenâs always listened to me since she was a kid. Iâm sure I could say something to get her to come back.â
âNo one is going anywhere! I want to see just how tough she is! Without my money, where else can she go? Itâs better that she starves to death out there than to come back.â
Sharon: âSir, how could you!â
Will: âShut up! You can get lost too if you keep making noise!â
The meal ended up finishing in silence and unhappiness.
Vera sat in the passenger seat. Eric had put on her seatbelt for her.
âEric, do we not need to look for Eileen? She could be in danger.â
Ericâs face was stoic. He turned the steering wheel with a blank face and stepped on the gas.
âThe princess has been in her castle for way too long. She still hasnât learned the ways of the real world yet. Donât worry, I know her... Sheâll be back.â
Did Eileen not play enough tricks of running away from her home before?
Hasnât she ended up coming back every single time?
If her last name wasnât Swan, she wouldnât even have any worth to her life.
He wanted to see how long Eileen, who has noth, could survive away from her home Three minutes?
Or three hours?
Eric smirked sarcastically.
Oh, donât let him down now, Eileen Swan!
On the road leaving the Swan house, Eileen was nowhere to be found.
She must be hiding somewhere.
The next second, Vera pointed at a figure sitting in the front seat of a big Blake truck.
âEric, look! Itâs Eileen!â
Eric slowed down the car, right at the same time she spotted their car.
âGoodness, why did Eileen leave with a stranger? Sheâs not in danger, is she? Eric, do we need to call the police?â
Eric looked away from Eileenâs direction in a gloomy manner. âItâs none of our business.â
âDonât we need to do something?â
Eric focused on the road ahead and remained silent.
The big Blake truck was driving fast, and left them in the dust before they knew it.
Vera felt the car pulling forward faster and faster. She wanted to tell Eric to slow down.
She felt that Eric was chasing after the truck, so she had to endure the speed.
The traffic light ahead of them turned red right when they were about to cross it.
Eric ran the red light and made a turn.
The truck was gone.
âEric... We lost them. What do we do now?â
Vera looked at Eric anxiously, but she only saw the coldness in his eyes.
Eileen, what kind of game are you trying to play this time round!
36 Eileen looked in the rearview mirror, they managed to shake Eric off.
She hoped that Eric would understand that when she said she wanted to run away before, she wasnât just pulling his leg.
What happened with Vera, she had already learned her lesson.
Lamenting on the feelings before, Eric had better not think about her anymore.
The pain would be a lot if she were to get hurt again.
The truck driver who was willing to give her a ride was a long-distance delivery man, and he was traveling with his wife.
They both seemed like warm and honest people.
Eileen had told them that she had a fall out with her father, and she wanted to look for her mother. So they let her tag along with them.
After a forty-minute ride, she arrived at an old building.
She said her goodbyes with the couple.
Relying on her memory, she walked down the dilapidated street. She could smell the foul stink coming from the drain beneath it.
Very quickly, she spotted a familiar sign, and stopped in front of a building.
There was no elevator here, so she had to climb to the sixth floor by the stairs.
On the way there, Eileen lost one of her sandals, so she walked with a limp. Her knees were still hurting.
She finally found the unit she was looking for.
She found a key under a flower pot on the balcony opposite the door.
âWho are you, little girl? Why havenât I seen you before?â A lady in her forties walked out with a bucket of clothes in her hands âMy mother lives here. Iâm looking for her Eileen replied Oh youâre the daughter of the Swire family? There, there I didnât know that she had such a beauidul daughter like you Whatâs your name, tle girlâ
My naman Fileen Swell âI see, what a beautiful name. Have you eaten yet. Eileen? Iâve made some food, would you like to have some?â
Eileen: âItâs okay, thank you. Iâm a bit tired, I want to rest for a bit, and wait for my mom to come home.â
âOkay, donât forget to come and visit anytime.â
âSure.â
Eileen walked into the unit. It was neatly organized, albeit a little shabby. There was no living room, just a single bed and a bathroom, and better yet, a small balcony.
