chapter 33
The Auction
Tatina POV
My entire body hurts. I am so weak from the drugs. Here I am a guest
in a vampire's home. He is being kind, but I cannot forget he also has
someone in his basement. I cannot wait to hear the explanation for all
of this
Poor Jayne. She tried to help me and look where it lands her on the run.
I bet it was Glenn. Why did Glenn pretend to help me or tell me to do
those things only to text me and set off my own personal hell?
The things he did to me. The way he hit me. The way he raped me
repeatedly. I soiled myself over and over. The smell of my bodily fluids
all over me while he was pounding into me. Then beat me for not
enjoying it.
Those stories of how he loved his precious Julie. Lies Just all Lies. I hope
he is dead. I hope he can never hurt another woman again. I wonder if
any of it was true. I hope someone kills Glenn too.
I ate everything Draco provided me. I wonder why he is being nice.
What does he stand to gain for helping me? Why would Jayne trust him
to care for me? These people and this auction business have to stop.
The fairies have to be protected.
I am just a nobody how can I think I could ever protect anyone. I am
not anyone important. I am just a young woman in the absolute worst
mess. At least I am not in the basement.
âDo you need help back to the bed?â Draco asks me.
He has sat there silently. âI am still very weak. My body hurts and I feel
dizzy,â I say.
âI will be gentle,â he says.
He scoops me up easily. He carries me back to the bed. He lays me
across it. âI will send someone to get you clothes,â he says.
âThank you. I would very much appreciate that,â I say.
âThere are a few things that belonged to my sister in the drawers. You
are welcome to any of it. She was tiny like you,â he says.
âWas?â I inquire.
"Yes, was tiny. She died a few years ago. That is a story for another day,â
he says.
âWas she a vampire too,â I ask?
âNo, she was a fairy. Just like you,â he says.
He turns to leave me to rest.
âWait,â I say.
He stops. âAre you a hybrid?â I ask.
I can tell he is not ready to talk to me about all of this.
âTatina I am the bad guy. You need to trust me long enough to be safe
and then get far away. There is no need to get to know me,â he says.
âPlease tell me are you?â I ask again.
"Yes, I am a hybrid. More vampire than fairy but a hybrid nonetheless,â
he answers reluctantly.
"Did they take her?â I ask.
"Who?" he says.
âYour sister. Did the vampire authority take her?â I ask.
âTatina please, not right now. I really need to go down and settle in my
other house guest,â he says.
âPlease do not hurt her,â I say.
âI have no intentions of hurting her. I never have any intentions of
hurting anyone. I have done nothing but help these poor women
escape,â Draco says.
âI am so confused,â I say.
âI know and I will be happy to explain everything later. I need to go
check on her and make sure she is comfortable,â he says.
He leaves the room. I am more confused right now than the day I was
dragged out of my home and painted up like a whore to be auctioned
off to the highest bidder. What are these people really doing?
I want to know everything that is going on. First I have to heal my body
is a mess. I am weak. I am so sleepy. I lay my head down and drift off
into a perfect slumber.
I awake to the smell of the most delicious food. Henry has brought in
three trays. I hear Draco coming up the stairs. He is talking with
someone. He opens the door. A beautiful young woman enters with
him.
âTatina this is Aurora,â he says.
She runs into the room and lands on the bed with me.
âCareful,â Draco says.
She wraps her arms around me. âAre you okay?â she asks me.
âI am now. Are you?" I ask.
âI am now. Draco saved me,â she says.
âMe too,â I say.
This man has a lot of explaining to do. The meanest man on the planet
is out saving fairies and no one knows it.
âLet me help you so we can all eat together. I am starving,â she says.
She gently takes my hand. I am still so weak. Draco rushes over to
scoop me up yet again. I have to start walking again soon.
âWill the drugs ever be out of my system?â I ask.
âI have no idea how much he was giving you. Maybe by tomorrow, you
can walk. Aurora can help you bathe until you are steady. I am sure me
doing it was embarrassing enough,â Draco says.
âThat would be great,â I say.
âI am having a bed moved up here in this room so the two of you can
share a room,â he says.
âOh. So you do not keep people tied up in the basement,â I ask.
âNo, I had to have her delivered like that. I tried talking to her at Craig's
she wouldn't listen to me. She forced me into putting on a show,â
Draco says.
âI am so thankful. You have to know I was terrified there. Lila was awful.
She kept taking my clothes and beating me. That creepy guy enmo or
mon whatever his name was kept licking my face. It was gross,â Aurora
says.
âWhy did you finally trust him?â I ask.
âHe drank from me and we connected thoughts. He let me know he
was trying to help. I was still scared. I was so scared he was going to
rape me when he got me here. Even after I saw how pure his thoughts
were. Lila kept telling me all the way here about the awful things he
would do to me,â she says.
âYou are both safe now and Jayne owes me dinner?â Draco says
jokingly.
âWhat?â I ask.
âI approached Jayne to get you out. Lila was planning to kill you. When
I found out I approached Jayne. She does not know I bid on these
women to help them. I told her I would help as long as she didn't
interfere with my prize, restored my auction privileges, and had dinner
with me. I have to be careful of my thoughts. Some of you can read
minds,â He says.
âI see. This facade must be draining,â I say.
âIt is all worth it,â he says.
âYou don't care that people think you are worse than the devil,â I ask?
âNo. I have something I have to do. It means I have to be what they
need me to be. Only people that know are the fairies I have helped. I
want to keep it that way,â he says.
I nod in acknowledgment of his good deeds. âI understand,â I say.
âI am going to leave the two of you to talk. I have to try to find Jayne. I
will let you know what I find out,â Draco says.
We open the third tray left untouched to find cheesecake. Aurora and I
eat the cheesecake quickly. I have not had something so yummy in
ages.
