Chapter 37

33. Something is fishy

His Queen, Her Beast✔

SHREYA'S POV

Thank God it was a national holiday so I got the chance to sleep and fight with the fatigue, of the last few days.

It was 1:00 PM and I was still in the bed in my most comfortable clothes ever that is a loose T-shirt and Bermuda shorts. I was so much hungry so I left the bed unwillingly dragged myself to the washroom to brush and splash water on the face. Should I mention that like always I was looking a Ghost? But who cares I am at home. I went downstairs to have something. Because you know food always comes first.

When I was in the middle of the stairs I heard the sound of a laugh. A strange laugh I must say. I stood there and tried to listen if I can get who is this but the only voice which my ears can catch was of my father talking to someone.

Who can be this? As far as I know, we don't have any relatives here. Umm....maybe someone from the colony. I continued to step down.

When I reached the hall I became paralyzed.

Kukkad was sitting their with my parents laughing at my father's lame jokes. This person can laugh too and that too on my father's jokes? I mean we laugh not to make him disheartened but why is he doing that?

There is 100% something fishy because that person can not laugh who dies in giving a smile.

And what is he doing here in the first place? How he came here? Who gave him that permission?

All those questions were running in my mind when Papa looked at my side.

Papa, please don't call me by my nickname. Please no, not in front of him. Please. I was praying because he never thinks twice before announcing my nickname to the world. That is way too embarrassing and he himself has decided it and he is proud of it.

"Ah...Shreya beta. Why are you standing there like a statue? Come here" Papa said.

Thank God. He said Shreya

Mumma was standing beside papa and both of them were sitting on the extreme end of the couch. So I have no other option than sitting on the chair lying beside his side.

"Why are you reacting like you have seen him for the first time?" Mumma asked

"Do you know him?" I asked

"How could we not beta, who don't know him," Papa said.

Me papa me, none other then your own daughter doesn't know him before she met him back in the office.

"Can I get a cup of tea?" He said looking towards me.

He paused for a moment looked into my eyes and turned his head in a style to my Mumma's side

"Auntiji," he said making rhyme of tea and Ji and again looked my side.

"Zeher la du? (should I bring the poison?)" I said in between my teeth.

He chucked.

Did he really chuckled or my ears have grown big?

"Oh, how could I forget that. Sorry beta, I will also fry some pakodas too (fritters)" My Mumma said

What? She never cooks anything for me besides that Roti daal and she is ready to fry fritters for him and that too without asking for it.

She went into the kitchen and I followed her to know what exactly is going on.

"Mumma, what is this? What is going on here?" I asked her while she was busy preparing snacks for that kukkad.

"I should be the one asking this question to you. What is going on?" She asked

"What?"

"Have you grown so old that you have started to hide things from me. From your own mother". She said in her taunting style.

I was shocked. What he has told them? Why is she talking like this?

"There was a time when you used to tell each and everything when you return from your school. Now, look at you. You don't tell me anything. I get to know about you from others". She said

"Others who others and will you tell me what I am hiding from you?" I asked

"How would I know?" She said

"Then who knows?" I asked

"You knows what you are hiding from me," she said

Uff so much confusion

"Mumma please paheliya mt bhujao ( don't beat around the bush), come to the point," I said

"Ok so the point is hume ladka pasand hai (We like the boy)" she whispered in my ears

"What?"

What is she thinking?

"Don't be so innocent beta. I have also been through this phase of life" she said

What has happened to her

"What are you saying Mumma, there is nothing like that," I said

"Oh really! Who cannot fall for that handsome hunk haan? Mujhe chelate ki koshish mt kr (Don't make me fool)" she said

"Are you serious Mumma. You cannot think every other boy as my groom."

I paused she didn't replied

"And what about him? What will he think about you when he will came to know that you have gone to this extreme" I asked

"What will he say when he likes you too". Her eyes shined

My eyes became wide. I put one hand on my forehead and one on my waist. Had he told everything to them?

"Who, who told you this?" I asked

"His eyes," she said stopping her work.

"His eyes were telling everything when he was looking at your photographs on the wall of the hall. When he was adoring you" she said dreamingly.

"How can you judge anyone like this?" I asked

"Ye baal dhoop m safed nahi hue hai (I am experienced )" she said

"And how could you think him as my dulha (groom) when you don't even know him," I asked

"There is no need of knowing him. He is so kind and caring" she said

If only you knew Mumma what he really is. If only you knew.

"One minute, first of all, tell me how he came here? Who invited him here?" I asked

"Now no more questions, take this tray and go, and serve them. I am bringing fritters." She said

"No, I will not serve him anything. You go and serve by yourself" I said

"Is this your manner? This is what we have taught you?" She scolded me

"How much time will both of you take. We are hungry" My father said from the hall

"Go" she pushed me a little

I put the tray on the table and sat on the chair unwillingly.

"Why you never invited him for dinner before?" My father asked

I looked at his side and he was already looking at me.

I was shocked by how Papa is liking him when he has never liked any of my boy-friends ever.

"Finally, I got one with the same level of sense of humor," papa said and both of them laughed.

Yups at level 0.

"Here are your snacks. Have it" Mumma said while putting the tray down and he took one.

I was shocked again how could he eat oily things.

'Cough cough'

He coughed. Plan successful I added extra spice in the batter because I know he doesn't eat spicy things.

I was smiling while he was coughing madly.

"What is this behavior Shreya. Pass the glass of water" my mother scolded me in front of him and because of him.

He took the glass from me and deliberately touched my fingers.

He smiled evilly while sipping the water.

There is 100% something going on in his mind. He is definitely planning something.

The man is not showing his real face to my parents. And my parents are going head over heels on him.

There is something fishy.
