Chapter 100
âAre you going, then?â asked Jackson.
Serenity nodded. âButâ¦â She hesitated for a moment, âDo you want to go with me?â
He pondered for a moment and said, âI have to work overtime on New Yearâs Eve. My boss said he would triple the pay. Why donât you give me the address? Iâll go on New Yearâs Day. â
âOkay,â said Serenity. But after that, she hit her lip and said hesitantly, ânut some of my relatives might give you attitude. Just ignore them.â
Jackson smiled, âDonât worry, I donât care.â
She was the only one he cared about..
The closer it got to the New Year, the fewer people there were on the streets. Many people had gone back to their hometown to spend the New Year with their family.
Serenityâs motherâs maiden home was in a small town outside Solaria. It was not very far from the city, only about an hour and a half away by bus. Therefore, tickets were not that big of a problem.
When Serenity booked the tickets, she told Jackson, âJack, give me your ID. Iâll book a ticket for you.â
She realized that she had never seen his ID before.
âIâve already booked a ticket,â said Jackson.
Serenity did not pursue the matter. She took out the scarf that she had been knitting and wrapped it around Jackson.
Is it too short?â she asked.
âNo, itâs just right,â he said. The scarf seemed to carry her scent. Wearing the scarf made him feel like he was surrounded by her scent.
âThen Iâll finish it up later so that you can wear it on New Yearâs Eve. The gloves will take a bit longer, probably until after the New Year,â she said.
Lisa was originally planning to spend the New Year with Serenity, but after hearing that Serenity planned to go back to her motherâs hometown, she could not help feeling a little worried for her.
âYouâre going alone?â
âJack will be there on New Yearâs Day to keep me company,â said Serenity.
âBut those relatives on your motherâs sideâ¦â Lisa was aware of how ruthless they were when Serenity got into the accident.
âI want to see my grandmother. I havenât visited her once after I was released from prison. I want to see how sheâs doing.â said Serenity. Her grandmother was the only person she cared about over there.
âIf anything happens, call me. Iâll be at home over the New Year,â said Lisa.
âNothing will happen.â Serenity chuckled. âIâm going back to my motherâs hometown, not going to war.â
âWho knows what those relatives of yours will do,â Lisa muttered.
âDonât worry. Iâm just going there to see my grandmother, stay for two days and then come back,â said Serenity.
On New Yearâs Eve, Serenity departed early in the moming. Before leaving, she reminded Jackson to be careful âI will,â Jackson said with a smile.
