After she was done speaking, she walked right past him and left.

Lucas watched quietly as Serenity walked away from him. Once she was gone, he finally turned toward Lyra, whose face was completely drained of color.

At the moment, Lyra was misty-eyed and on the verge of tears. Her lovely face now looked pitiful due to her panic.

Lucas gently brushed the corner of her eyes with his fingertips and asked, “Are you going to cry?”

“Lucas,” she hastily told him, “I just love you too much and I don’t want to lose you! I know I was too impulsive today, but… but I promise it won’t happen again.”

“You love me too much?” Lucas asked in an expressionless voice.

“Yes… Yes, I love you! I love you so much! Lucas, you’re the only man that I’ll ever love for the rest of my life. Let’s not break up, okay?”

Lyra’s words were punctuated by her sobbing. Tears rolled down her cheeks like pearls, making her look heartrendingly woeful.

Nevertheless, there was no sign that Lucas was moved by it at all in his expressions. All he did was utter in a cold voice. “But I never loved you.”

Lyra’s whole body stiffened. Amidst that, she could hear him add, “And I’ve always hated women who like to cause a scene.”

It was such a simple sentence, yet Lyra’s body shook like a leaf upon hearing it. She knew that in the past, Lucas had an ex-girlfriend who always caused a scene, and she had heard Lucas say those exact words before with her own ears.

Not long after he had said that, the ex-girlfriend had then vanished from the entertainment industry. Her management company had completely abandoned her, and all the directors in the industry refused to work with her. Then, she had ended up with a lot of debts, so much so that she was forced to flee the country.

Even now, Lyra had no idea what had become of her, but she doubted that there was any happy ending for that woman.
