Obsessive CEO’s Sinful Wife by Lil’ Bamboo
Chapter 170
She got no sleep at all the day before yesterday, and she could not sleep last night either because of what had happened to her grandmother. At that moment, she felt as if her steps were so light that she was merely gliding across the floor.
She had been walking for a while when someone bumped into her shoulder. The next moment, she staggered and fell to the ground right away. Fortunately, her clothes had been thick enough to pad her fall, so it didnât hurt much.
Just as she was about to struggle het way up onto her feet again, someone swiftly rushed over to her side and helped her up.
She turned to that person and realized that it was Peter.
âHow did youâ¦â
âI parked my car by the side of the road,â He explained. âI think Iâd better drive you home, after all.â
Although she had refused his offer earlier, he was still too concerned about her that he had to follow
behind her in his car.
âNo, itâs fine. I can walk home by myself.â
âBut someone merely brushed past you just now and you fell flat to the ground. How can I just let you go home alone? Come on, my carâs parked by the road. If the police find it, Iâll be fined!â
Seeing that he would not take no for an answer, Serenity sighed and followed him into his car.
Peter then started the engine and drove off toward Serenityâs place.
âYou donât need to worry.â He assured her in earnest. âI just want to take you home. I donât expect anything from you in return at all. I know Iâm just an ordinary guy and I canât compare with your ex- boyfriend, but Iâm just afraid that something might happen to you on your way back, so I wanted to drive you home. That way, I be sure that youâll get home safe.â
âThank you,â she said. In truth, her life in the past was nothing more than a dream to her now. In her current situation, it was she who was not a suitable match for others. Who in their right mind would marry a woman who had been in prison before?
âI saw you getting into a Porsche two days ago.â Peter mentioned with hesitation. âIf youâve found someone much better than me, then Iâm⦠Iâm happy for you, but I⦠Iâm just worried that youâre being tricked or manipulated, so I think you should really consider it before y
youâ¦â
âThat man wasnât my date,â She interrupted him. âI just found his belonging and returned it to him, so he treated me to a meal as a way to thank me.â
âOh,â he uttered. A look of hope soon arose on his face.
After only a short while, the car reached the small neighborhood where Serenity lived.
âPeter,â she said, turning to him, âYouâre a good guy, but Iâm not suitable for you. Stop wasting your time on me. Iâm sure youâll find someone much better than me in the future!â
â
âBut youâre more than good enough for me,â he argued, his face flustered. âI can wait until youâ¦.â Serenity gritted her teeth and told him, âBut itâs just as you said. My exâboyfriend was a really rich man. If I were to be married, Iâd find someone at least as good as him or Iâd rather stay single forever, so we really are not suitable for each other, do you understand?â

Perhaps saying these harsh words was the only way she could make him give up on her. It might hurt him now, but at least she would not be dragging it out by being blunt with him now. Peter was a good man. If he was not so insistent or waiting for her, Serenity would never have chosen to do this.
Disappointment was written all over Peterâs face as he stared stiffly at Serenity.
âWell, Iâm getting out of the car now. Thank you for driving me home, but you donât have to do it any more next time.â
After speaking, she opened the door and stepped out of the car, then walked straight through the entrance of her apartment complex.
She could hear the sound of a car engine starting behind her, followed by the sound of it driving away.
