His body stiffened slightly, but he didn’t resist. He leaned his head on her shoulder and let her scent envelope him.

The scent that carried a faint fragrance made him feel safe for some reason.

He felt like he could completely relax when he was around her.

“You told me you’ll never abandon me, right? Me too. I’ll never abandon you too. No matter what happens in the future, I’ll always stay by your side.”

Her voice slowly reached his ears.

“Really? You’ll stay by my side no matter what happens?” he asked softly.

“Of course,” she replied, as if it was the most natural thing in the world.

“You promise you won’t be scared of me?” he asked.

Serenity laughed softly. “Why would I be scared of you? Our Jack is such a good boy.”

Our Jack… The way she said that made it sound like he was hers, but he did not dislike it. In fact, he actually… kinda liked it.

He lifted his head, and suddenly, their faces were really close to each other; the tips of their noses were even touching.

She blushed and subconsciously tried to back away, but his hand was around her waist, preventing her from doing so.

“Do you like that I’m a good boy?” he asked softly.

All she could see was his handsome, flawless face. Serenity could not help biting her lip slightly. Her face became even hotter.

It was just a very ordinary question, but why did it sound so wrong when he said it?

“Yeah…” It took a while before she answered, softly.

“So if I behave myself even more, you’ll like me even more?” he asked.

If those words were said by a child, it would feel innocent and cute, but when they came from him, it felt alluring and

seductive.

“Will you?” His face moved a little closer, his thin lips almost pressing against hers.

“…I will,” she heard her own voice answer.

Her heart was in her throat.

She only saw him as a little brother, so why would her entire body freeze when his face moved close to hers, as if all the blood had rushed to the top of her head?

In the end, she came to the conclusion that it was because he was too handsome, so she got momentarily distracted. After all, extreme beauty could cause a huge visual impact.
