Obsessive CEO’s Sinful Wife by Lil’ Bamboo
Chapter 372
Before Serenity got off work, she asked Clara, the restaurant owner, âCould I take half a day off tomorrow, Clare? Iâd like to visit my motherâs grave.â
Although it was Memorial Day tomorrow which was, in fact, a national holiday, the restaurant would still be open, and it would definitely be even busier tomorrow since many people would have a lot of free time. The restaurant even stayed open during festive seasons as well,
Clara was a little taken aback. She never knew that Serenityâs mother had already passed away, so she told her, âOkay, no problem. You can get the kitchen to prepare some dishes for you to take to your motherâs grave before you leave tomorrow.â
âItâs fine,â Serenity replied, âThanks. Iâm going to prepare the fond myself.â
She really looked forward to preparing some food to take with her to her motherâs grave. She had been very young when her mother died, but now, she was all grown up, and she even knew how to cook. She wished to let her mother see that.
âIâm leaving, then,â Serenity said
âOkay,â Clara replied. She seemed to have something to say, but ultimately, she hesitated and decided against it. Since Serenity insisted that she was not that close with Lucas Gomez, it would be best not to involve her any further in this matter. Clara would just have to go see Lucas herself.
After leaving the restaurant, Serenity did not head straight back to Valor Residence. Instead, she took a detour to a supermarket to buy some groceries before riding the scooter to a tiny shop that sold supplies for visits to the grave.
She went inside and said to the so-year-old lady sitting inside, âIâd like some incense, candles, and gold ingots, please, Mrs. Francesca.â
Every year before Memorial Day, Serenity would always come to this same shop to buy these three things. Every year, that was, except those three years when she was in prisonâ¦
âIs that you, Serenity? Youâre going to visit your motherâs grave again tomorrow, arenât you?â
Mrs. Francesca grinned at Serenity, revealing her toothless mouth.
âYeah,â Serenity responded.
Mrs. Francesca glanced at the shopping bags in Serenityâs hands and commented, âYouâre going to prepare lots of delicious food again, huh? You havenât been here for the past two or three years. I was wondering if Iâd see you this year.â
âWell, I lots of things happened over the past few years, so I couldnât come here.â
As Serenity spoke, Mrs. Francesca handed her the goods she had come to buy.
âItâs been so many years since your mother died,â the old woman said. âShe must already be resting in peace now since sheâs got a perfect daughter like you,â
âPerfect daughter? Serenity thought mockingly. How perfect of a daughter could she be when she could not even keep a photo album in perfect shape? And even now⦠there really was nothing she could do for her mother at all except to clean up her motherâs grave
After saying goodbye to Mrs. Francesca, Serenity rode hier scooter back to Valur Residence. She had just entered the house and was walking through the living room to get to the kitchen so she could keep all the groceries in the fridge when she suddenly heard a cold voice asking her, âWhy did you come home so late today?â
âAh!â Serenity yelped. The candles and incense in her hands fell to the ground.
Then, the lights in the living room turned on, and she saw Jackson sitting on the sofa.
âWhy are you sitting in the living room with the lights off?â she asked.
âWaiting for you,â he replied, then rose to his feet and walked up to her. âWhat about you? You havenât answered my question.

She pursed her red lips and told him, âI did some shopping after getting off work. I had to buy some groceries and other stuff to visit my motherâs grave tomorrow.â
âVisit your motherâs graveâ¦â His gaze fell on the incense and candles in her hands. âAh, so tomorrowâs Memorial Day, huh? Too bad I canât go with you tomorrow.â
Serenity was somewhat startled. She had never thought of asking him to go with her to her motherâs grave, but his words reminded her that⦠His father had passed away too, so he was probably going to visit his fatherâs grave tomorrow.
Between the both of them, one was going to visit her motherâs grave, while the other was going to visit his fatherâs grave. She suddenly realized that they were much more alike than she had thought.
