Obsessive CEO’s Sinful Wife by Lil’ Bamboo
Chapter 389
Perhaps there was more to the story than a simple car accident. Lucas pondered in silence and laughed to himself. The only fatality from the car accident was Mira Hall, Jacksonâs flancee. Yet, Serenity and Jackson were dating today.
If it really were a plot to remove Mira from the picture, then Jackson would have investigated the matter. Why was he being so worked up about it?
Itâs just thatâ¦
âWhen did Serenity start working at your shop?â asked Lucas not of the blue.
âHuh?â Even Clara was surprised by his question. After a moment, she answered, âI guess about half a month ago? Sheâs helping us with order deliveries â
âHow is she as a worker?â inquired Luca
âSheâs pretty good. Serenityâs a diligent worker and rarely messes up our orders. Iâve never heard her complain about being tiredâ¦â
As Clara spake about Serenity, Lucas propped up his face and wore an intrigued expression. His lips were curled into a smile, and there was a renewed gentle look on his face compared to before.
This caught Clara by surprise. Could it be that Lucas was⦠but how was this possible!? Being the prince of the showbiz industry, he was constantly surrounded by all sorts of beautiful ladies.
Serenity, on the other hand, was a plain Jane who rarely wore makeup or dressed up for work. Her hands were rough and
calloused, which indicated the sort of work she was typically engaged with
These two people were from seemingly different worlds. If she hadnât seen them talking in a small restaurant, who would have thought Lucas was acquainted with Serenity?
After Clara answered his question about Serenity working at her store, Lucas shifted his attention back to her. âYouâre saying she had just come out of prison when she applied to work at your shop? Why did you accept her application? Arenât you afraid that sheâll cause trouble, given her background?â
Clara flashed a bitter smile at him. âI guess itâs because I was in the same position as her, so I could empathize with her.â
Placing herself in Serenityâs shoes, she could tell that she desperately needed a job.
âEmpathy huhâ¦â
Lucas murmured to himself. After a moment, he turned to Clara and said, âAlright, Iâll help you. At the very least, I wonât tell Wilson that I saw you. Even so, I canât guarantee someone else wonât tell him about it.â
For Clara, this promise was more than enough.
âThank you, Mr. Gomez. Thank you,.â Clara thanked him repeatedly. Her intuizzon told her that âempathyâ was what convinced the prince of the showbiz industry to help her.
However, it sepiped to confirm that Mr. Gomez really had feelings for. There was a hint of worry in Claraâs eyes. She wondered if this would turn out to be good or detrimental for Serenity.
After all, she was in this exact position before. From the time they spent together, Clara started to view Serenity as more than a mere employee. She was a friend.
Perhaps her fare would change if she involved herself further with Lucas. Whether she would be happy in the future was⦠still hard to say.
Around noon, Grayson received a call from the landlord of the room he was renting. He was informed that someone had entered the place, which shocked him. With an anxious voice, he asked, âWho was it? Iâm a tenant here! How could you open the door without asking me first?!â
2/2
The landlord responded angrily. âI canât believe your audacity! I allowed you to rent this place for yourself, not to store a dead personâs ashes! Thanks to you, the police investigated my place and theyâre now demanding me to renovate it because of regulations! Iâll have you know, you wonât be getting your deposit back Not a single cent!â
