She then hesitated and added, “Although I now know that Serenity is your girlfriend, I’ve never had any idea to use her from the start, and I naturally have no intention to da so now either. I gave her a fob back then because we both suffered the same fate and used to be in prison, so I felt sorry for her and wanted to give her a chance so she could stand on her own two feet.”

Hearing this, the iciness in Jackson’s eyes thawed a little

“I won’t meddle in the business between you and Wilson Birch,” he assured her. “All I want is for Serenity to work here safely and peacefully. If anything happens to her, you can always give me a call.”

After speaking, he gave Clara his phone number. She quickly noted it down. To think that only a handful of prople in the whole of Solaria actually had this man’s number, and Clara had actually gotten it under such bizarre circumstances!

Nevertheless, since Jackson had assured her that he would not barge into the business between her and Wilson, it must mean that he would not tell Wilson where she was, and this made her sigh with relief.

Jackson then remained in the restaurant until Serenity returned. He even had dinner with her there. And so, by the end of the working day, all her colleagues in the restaurant found out that she had an extraordinarly handsome boyfriend.

None of her colleagues knew that he was Jackson Valor, however, because she only referred to him as “Jack’, although they did jokingly observe that since her boyfriend seemed to be a wealthy man, Serenity was likely going to become a rich man’s wife

Serenity merely laughed it off when she heard this.

If her colleagues had known that her boyfriend was Jackson Vallor, would they still say the same thing? Or would they just think that there was absolutely no way Jackson would ever marry her?

“Your boss seems like a decent woman,” Jackson commented on the way back home.

“She really is a good person.” Serenity agreed. She then seemed to have thought of something suddenly and added, “By the way, Yanny is going to have the operation tomorrow, so Clare and her mom are going to stay by his side at the hospital, and the restaurant will be closed for a few days. That means I won’t be working for the next few days.”

“So, you’re saying that you won’t be delivering my lunch tomorrow?” he asked with raised eyebrows.

Serenity was speechless. Was that all that was on his mind? Still, it suddenly occurred to her that she had been having lunch with him every day lately.

“Perhaps I could make you a packed lunch tomorrow?” she suggested.

As she spoke, she was reminded of when they used to stay in the rental room together. Back then, whenever she had to work overtime or go home late for some reason, she would always prepare some food for him before going to work. All he had to do was reheat it, and it would be ready to eat.

She remembered how happy she had been to see him enjoy the food that she cooked herself. After all, what brought the most Joy to the cook was to see someone savoring the fond they made. Besides, the dishes she made were very simple, and her cooking skills were not that impressive.

“Okay,” he replied with a smile. “Remember your own woods! 11l be waiting for your lunch tomorrow.”

Since she was the one who had suggested it, it was too late to go back on her own words now, so she asked him, “What would you like to eat, then?”

“I’m not picky,” he answered. “Anything you make is good to me!

“Not picky… Serenity thought. ‘So in other words, he probably doesn’t have any favorite dishes, then.”

“Okay,” she said, “In that case, I’ll just rustle something up tomorrow.”
