Obsessive CEO’s Sinful Wife by Lil’ Bamboo
Chapter 447
âokay,â answered Serenity.
After Serenity put her phone away, Jackson asked, âWas it Lisa?â
âYeah.â
âDid she ask Terry White to help you look into your case?â he inquired further.
âNot exactly,â answered Serenity, âShe only asked Terry White to help me investigate one of the witnesses whoâs in San Marco right now. She said the witness is currently detained by the police, so there might be a way to get some information out of him. Weâre planning to go to San Marco tomorrow.â
Although Lisa didnât go into detail, Serenity knew some of the tricks of the trade since she used to be a lawyer.
How could it be that easy to get words out of someone in custody? Thereâs no way Lisa was capable of doing that. It must be Terry White at work again.
The problem was, Lisa now owed Terry White another favor even though this was Serenityâs problem.
How much had Lisa sacrificed for her by now? Would she ever be able to pay Lisa backâ Serenity thought about it with a heavy heart. She did not notice the glint in Jacksonâs eyes.
âIâll go with you,â said Jackson
âYou donât have to. Lisaâs coming with me,â said Serenity.
âYouâre my girlfriend. Of course I have to go with you. Itâs decided. Iâll go with you tomorrow,â Jackson said adamantly.
His hands that were holding the steering wheel tightened slightly as he came up with a plan.
That evening, Lisa confirmed the time with Serenity on the phone. Serenity said, âBy the way⦠Jack â I mean Jackson â wants to go with us.â
âWhat?â Lisa sounded surprised. âHe wants to go too?â
âYeah. Can he?â asked Serenity.
âWell, sure. I donât see why not. But⦠we should all go in one car. Itâs easier to talk if weâre all in the same car. Also, with one car, someone else can take the wheel if the driver gets tired.â
âOkay, Iâll tell him,â replied Serenity. After she hung up, she suddenly felt nervous.
Would they be able to find out the truth from the witness tomorrow? Would she finally find out why he accused her of drinking? Would she find out who set her up?
When she was a lawyer, she was able to help others seek the truth and fight in court, yet she could not discover the truth in her own case. She found the irony of the situation ridiculous and pathetic.
Meanwhile, in the study, Jackson was telling Connor, âGo to San Marco. The police there have arrested a man with the surname York. Heâs one of the witnesses in Serenityâs case, Serenity will go see him tomorrow. I want you to make sure he understands what he can say and what he canât.â
âYes, Mr. Valor,â Connor responded. Then, with some hesitation, he asked, âYou donât plan to let Ms. Lewis know the truth?â
