Liliana felt her cheek burn up as half her face went numb due to the slap. When she turned to face the person who had attacked her, she came face–to–face with Serenity’s boyfriend.

“How how dare you hit me?!” stuttered Liliana.

“Am I not allowed to?” Jackson sneered back at her. The spiteful look in his gaze was a rare sight, even for Serenity. Yet here it was, on full display.

“I–I’m helping you out here! You don’t even know that Serenity’s having an affair with Lucas Gomez! They…”

Liliana endured the pain and tried her best to produce those words. And yet, she hadn’t finished speaking when she received another tight slap across the face.

In mere seconds, Liliana’s cheeks were bright red.

She could even taste the blood in her mouth. No doubt, that man didn’t hold back when he slapped her.

However, that was nothing compared to how frightening his glare was. Those were.. the eyes of a killer! In fact, something told her that this man was capable of killing her with the snap of his fingers.

But… he was just Serenity’s boyfriend! It wasn’t like he was some bigshot or anything. What was there to be afraid of?! She… she could call the cops! That’s right! That would show them!

At that moment, the sound of urgent footsteps came down the hall. Shortly after, Liliana heard the voice of her boss. “Nice to meet you, Mr. Valor! And you too, Serenity. It’s been a while, hasn’t it? quick, let’s head inside.”

The man was usually cold and stem, yet his words were surprisingly filled with enthusiasm.

Jackson stood there unmovingly. He lowered his gaze at Serenity and asked, “She’s the one who splashed her tea on your face, Isn’t she? After hearing what she said today, what do you think should happen to her?”

It went without saying that Jackson had run a check on her as well.

His words caught Liliana by surprise. The way he talked, it felt like he was playing God, capable of controlling her fate and all.

The boss stared dumbfoundedly at the scene. He stole a glance at Liliana’s swollen cheeks and then back at Jackson’s ice–cold expression “What on earth happened, Liliana?”

How could Liliana possibly tell him what she had done? After all, she had even mentioned Lucas‘ name when she had provoked Serenity.

And so, she remained rooted on the spot, hesitating to speak.

Serenity turned to Liliana and gave her a grim reminder. “Liliana, my past isn’t a tool for you to trample on me. If you’re gonna do that, be prepared to be stepped on too. Since your slanderous accusations toward me were all caught on tape, I’ll keep it as evidence against you. If you keep provoking me, prepare to rot in prison!”

The moment she heard those words, it suddenly felt like she was holding a hot potato. As it turned out, Serenity had noticed her secretly recording their conversation.

“Let’s go, Jack. We’ve got more important things to focus on,” said Serenity. She wouldn’t feel at ease until she had reviewed the evidence that he had dug up.

“Sure,” responded Jackson.

The boss and a handful of high–level executives then quickly led the couple back into the office.

Liliana stood there in a daze.

“Oh, don’t forget to get the voice clips from her phone. We’re gonna need it as evidence!” instructed Jackson.
