Chapter 167
The Beginning Of All Sins
Claude hummed an agreement as Sophie disappeared through the door.
The doctor allowed Olivia to rest on a bed outside. Looking up at Claude, she said, âIâm really fine.
Donât worry. I just need some rest.â Comment by LyndÃs Z. Yin: â¦. it was just being scalded by hot tea.
I donât get the drama.
She attempted to get down, but Claude approached her. âAllow me.â
He lifted her up in a bridal carry.
Olivia was stunned, instinctively trying to free herself, but Claudeâs hold was firm. He didnât smile as he explained, âIâm just taking you to the bed. Walking might worsen your injury.â
Olivia panicked. Considering herself a married woman now, the thought of leaning into another manâs embrace seemed wrong. âIâIâIâm really fine! Please, just let me walk on my own!â
Claude stopped her from squirming. âRelax, Olivia. Iâm just taking you to the ward. Iâd do the same for Sophie if she were hurt,â he said seriously.
He gently placed her on the bed and asked softly, âFeeling better?â
Still rattled, Olivia stuttered, âIâm⦠okay. RâReally.â She moved her arm away from his neck.
Claude sensed her discomfort, noticing how she avoided him. After a brief silence, he withdrew his hand and stepped back, ending the awkwardness between them.
Olivia returned to Sandalwood Palace, her head racing with thoughts. All she wanted was to retreat to her room.
â
The maid tried to greet her, but Olivia ignored her and hurried up the stairs. Once inside her room, Tyler emerged from his study, asking, âIs she back?â
âYes, Mr. Tyler. Sheâs in her room.â
Tyler headed to Oliviaâs room, noticing the door was slightly ajar. As he pushed it open, Olivia, in the midst of changing, startled in panic. âTâTyler!â
He was about to inquire about her day when he noticed her different dress. âYou werenât wearing that earlier. Why the change?â
âEr, I spilled some hot tea on my dress, so I bought a new one,â Olivia explained, flustered.
