Chapter 218
The Beginning Of All Sins
Olivia was grateful to Tyler for buying her things carlier that day âWhereâs the credit card I gave you?â he asked.
âIn my purse.â
âUse it.â
She looked up at him.
âYouâre Mrs. Harris now. It makes sense for me to take care of you, doesnât it? I donât want you to look like youâre lacking anything. If people who donât know us saw that, they might think Iâm not treating you right.â
He spoke softly, his voice had a warmth to it that made Olivia listen intently. His casual black shirt made his eyes seem deeper, his face even more striking.
Standing next to him, Olivia felt small but cared for. She couldnât deny his grownâup charm, thinking that any woman would find him irresistible.
âThanks, Tyler,â was all she managed to say.
âCome on,â he gestured toward the room.
Looking at the room, she realized they were sharing it. It seemed unlikely theyâd sleep separately in the Harris household. Since she was pregnant, she thought certain things were off the table. Moreover, he shouldnât have any desire for intimacy now.
âOh⦠Okay,â she replied, hesitating.
She lingered at the door, while Tyler had already moved inside. She only followed after a momentâs pause.
âIâm pregnant now. I donât sleep well, so Iâd wake up in the middle of the night. Iâll sleep on the couch, okay?â Holding a pillow, she stood there as he came out of the bathroom in his pajamas.
âIâll take the couch.â He picked up a pillow and a blanket, heading toward the couch.
Olivia watched him settle down on the couch, then he looked at her. âTime to sleep.â
He seemed to be pampering her. She felt a bit guilty but decided not to dwell on it and went to bed.
That night, she had a scary dream. In it, a child was chasing her, never stopping. She woke up screaming, unsure if she was still dreaming or not. She hugged the blanket to get out of the bed, attempting to shake the child off.
As she almost fell, Tyler caught her in the dark.
âOlivia?â
She woke up instantly, realizing she was in his arms. Still a bit confused, she looked at him.
He caressed her cheek. âYou had a nightmare?â
It was then Olivia understood it was all a dream, and she was safe. Staring at him, she took a moment to gather herself, feeling sore.
Tyler hugged her for a while, and even though her pregnancy wasnât visible yet, he seemed to acknowledge the new life joining them.
âAre you okay?â he asked.
She shut her eyes.
âMmâhmmâ¦â
âWhat was the dream about?â
Olivia didnât answer right away, still coming out of her fear.
In the quiet of the night, Tyler held her, helping her calm down.
