Chapter 224
The Beginning Of All Sins
Linda stood by Oliviaâs side and said, âMs. Olivia, there are only three of these in the world, and you got the last one.â
Olivia gave a short response and said nothing else. Linda didnât say more too and left the house.
Olivia went upstairs with the bag, while Tyler walked out of the dressing room after changing. He saw her coming in with the bag.
âHave you tried it on?â he asked.
âNot yet,â she said.
âGive it a try.â
Olivia opened the package and took out the bag. It was pure white with a shiny golden chain, and the leather felt soft and nice.
âThanks, Tyler.â
âThanksâ-That was what she said to him the most.
Tyler didnât show much reaction. He sat on the couch and held the armrest. âWhy are you thanking me?
Donât you like it?â
How could anyone not like the bag? It was irresistible to many young women.
She shook her head and said, âI like it very much.â
âThatâs great,â he said.
Olivia quietly held the cool chain for a while.
Tyler asked, âHowâs your day?â
He often asked her that, as if he was worried she wasnât adjusting well to the new place.
âIt was good. Aunt Ana⦠and Grandma are kind to me,â she said.
âHmm, thatâs good,â he paused before asking again, âDo you still feel nauseous?â
Tyler stood up and walked over to her. She fidgeted when he did that, but she quickly stopped.
He asked again, âYouâre not sad anymore?â He was asking about Jacob.
She shook her head. âNot anymore.
âGood. Iâll take you out when I have time. I might be going on a business trip.â
Olivia didnât expect him to say that, and her heart started beating fast again. She quickly said, âIâm fine here, Tyler.â
Tyler gently touched her cheek, making her skin feel warm. She stayed still, not moving away from his touch.
He felt relieved to see she was feeling better. âMmâhmm, weâll talk about it when the time comes.
He didnât push further, but he added, âYou should eat more.
â
Although Olivia wasnât feeling as sick now, she still wasnât eating much. She hadnât fully regained her appetite, and it was obvious she had lost weight. Nevertheless, she looked a bit better today.
She slightly moved her face away from his hand. âI will, Tyler.â
She turned pale again when she moved away from his touch. She shut her eyes, not looking at him.
The next morning, Ana said to Tyler, âOlivia doesnât have much to do, so I thought we could go see a musical.â
When Tyler heard this, he asked Olivia, âWould you like to go?â
Olivia knew Ana wanted to take her there to learn more about culture. Maybe she hoped she would become the kind of sophisticated wife that matched the Harris family.
