Chapter 274
The Beginning Of All Sins
Tyler looked at Olivia when she heard Nina. Just then, another maid, Sofia Brooks, walked in. She went to Tyler and asked, âSir, is this maâamâs phone?â
He turned around when he heard her and then glanced at Olivia. âIs this it?â
Olivia was surprised that Sofia had her phone. âYes, thatâs mine. Where did you find it?â
She quickly grabbed the phone and tried to turn it on. Despite pressing the power button several times, it wouldnât start.
Olivia mumbled, âWhatâs wrong? Why wonât it turn on?â
Thatâs when Tyler suggested, âMaybe the batteryâs dead?â
âIâm not sure whatâs wrong,â Olivia responded, puzzled.
âTry charging it,â he said.
Nina hurried to fetch the charger. Everyone expected the phone to turn on once it was plugged in, but nothing happened.
âMaâam, it looks like itâs broken,â Nina remarked.
âHow did it get broken?â Olivia examined the phone closely, then turned to Sofia. âI found it downstairs while I was cleaning. I didnât know it was yours until I asked,â the latter explained.
Olivia found it strange that her phone ended up downstairs since she had been in her room lately. She continued to fiddle with the phone, trying to turn it on, but to no avail.
âCanât get it to work?â Tyler asked.
âIt seems like it wonât turn on,â Olivia admitted, looking disappointed.
Tyler then said to Sofia, âThereâs a spare one in my room. Bring it over.â
Sofia hesitated before answering, âOkay,â and then headed to Tylerâs room.
âIs that alright with you, Tyler?â Olivia looked up, âI could try to get this one fixed. Maybe itâs not completely broken.â
âForget about it if itâs already broken. I have an extra one lying around,â Tyler reassured her.
Sofia returned soon after with the new phone.
âGive it a try,â Tyler encouraged.
She handed it to Olivia. It was the latest iPhone. The phone was white, a good match for her.
Olivia found it odd. The phone seemed less like a spare and more like it was specifically bought for her.
But she didnât dwell on it. After switching on the new phone, she attempted to insert her old SIM card, only to find that it wasnât working.
âIs the SIM broken too?â Tyler asked.
Now Olivia was truly worried. She had saved many important contacts and data on her old phone.
She kept removing and inserting the SIM card, but it was no use.
Tyler, however, remained calm as he watched her struggle. âThereâs a new SIM card in the box. Use that for now,â he suggested.
Olivia was bewildered. âWhy did everything stop working all of a sudden?â
