Chapter 331
The Beginning Of All Sins
Olivia spent her days being wheeled around the garden by her maid or chatting with Maisy in the living room downstairs.
Maisy was very thoughtful about Oliviaâs feelings, careful not to bring up anything that might upset her.
But lately, Olivia seemed happier, which made Maisy feel relieved. Her affection for Olivia grew stronger each day.
Three days into her stay at the Harrises, a nurse from the hospital came by to schedule Oliviaâs fourth prenatal checkup. This appointment included screening for Down Syndrome.
That morning, Maisy was in Oliviaâs room keeping her company when they received the update.
Concemed, Maisy asked, âAre you going alone? Do you want me to come with you?â
Maisy loved Olivia dearly but knew she was getting on in years. Olivia didnât want to trouble her, so she responded, âI can manage on my own, itâs not a long process.â
Maisy, still worried, pressed, âAre you sure?â
Olivia reassured her, âYes, the maid will accompany me.â
âBut Tyler would usually be the one to go with you,â Maisy pointed out, feeling sorry for Olivia, Olivia lowered her gaze and said softly, âIâm really fine. I can handle this alone.â
Maisy sighed and relented, âOkay, my dear. Call us if you need anything tomorrow.â
Olivia nodded. âOkay, Grandma.â
After informing Olivia of the appointment time, the nurse left. Maisy stayed a bit longer, but had to go when the maid reminded her to take her medicine.
As Maisy left the room, she muttered, âThis is ridiculousâ
Olivia wasnât sure who Maisy was referring to but had a good guess. She chose to ignore the comment, though the maid gave her a sympathetic look.
The following morning, Olivia, accompanied by Alisa and a nurse, went to the hospital. Her mobility was still limited, and the Harrises insisted she shouldnât go alone.
Ana wanted to join them but was tied up with errands.
Despite her calm exterior, Olivia felt anxious about the checkup. She remained quiet, sitting in her wheelchair.
At the hospital, the nurse noticed Oliviaâs condition and asked, âWhat happened to your leg, Mrs.
Harris?â
Alisa quickly replied, âItâs just a sprain. Sheâs getting better.â
The hospital staff were very considerate. Upon hearing this, the nurse approached Olivia and said, âIâm glad to hear youâre okay. Just be careful, especially now that youâre pregnant.â
The checkup was done privately to keep Olivia comfortable.
Olivia reassured her, âThe baby is doing well.â
