Chapter 379
The Beginning Of All Sins
The atmosphere had improved enough for Olivia to regain some of her appetite. She managed to finish bowl of soup.
Ana showed no signs of being passive aggressive or hostile. In her own way, she was rather friendly.
After breakfast, she assisted Maisy out of the dining hall, with Olivia trailing behind.
The two started chatting on the couch as Olivia listened from the side.
The aftemoon passed uneventfully.
Oliviaâs phone vibrated when she returned to her room, shaking the entire table it was on. It was from Naomi.
She balked for a bit before finally answering it.
âOlivia! Thank God you picked up! You gave me a big fright, I swear!â Naomi began anxiously. âHow could you not eat?! You should always remember that the last person you should ever hurt is yourself!
Donât do that again, please!â
Olivia had not expected her sister to be so⦠worried about her.
Ever since the last incident, Olivia had been careful not to appear before her because she worried she might trigger another episode.
Very softly, she replied, âIâm fine, Naomi. I justâ¦. wasnât feeling my appetite for a while.â
âDonât tell me youâre fine! These days, I feel like I worry about you more than I worry about myself! God, I was even dreaming of you!â
Oliviaâs grip tightened around her phone.
Naomi cut straight to the chase, âI canât leave the hospital right now, so you should come see me instead.
We need to talk!â
âBâBut-
âNo buts!â Naomi cut her off. âI want to see with my own eyes how my sisterâs doing, and this is how!â
Olivia could only change what she said midway. âAlright.â
âGood. Iâll see you in a bit then!â
Olivia wasnât sure if she could keep her promise, but she had agreed anyway.
Ten minutes later, she told Ana she needed to step out for a bit, without mentioning it was to visit the hospital.
Olivia was sure Ana would disagree. The aftershock from the incident was still fresh, after all. She could very well cause a new shockwave.
Surprisingly enough, Ana simply raised an eyebrow. âYouâre visiting your family?â
âYâYes.â
Ana took a sip of her black coffee. âSure. Go ahead,â
Olivia glanced at her skeptically, but Ana was not looking at her at all.
âThanks,â Olivia said.
With that, she left.
Ana waited until Olivia walked away to watch her leave from the window, her hand prying away curtain.
the It was a 20âodd minute ride to the hospital. Olivia could not calm down at all, so she stared out of the window at the crowd.
