Chapter 395
The Beginning Of All Sins
When Jordan heard that, his expression darkened. âDonât underestimate this, Claude.â
Katrina glanced between father and son, sensing something was amiss at Yancey.
Seating himself opposite Claude, Jordan spoke. âI understand your intentions, but weâre in a stable position now. You left the country after Morganâs passing, and a misstep by the company led to our downfall. Now that weâve regained control, itâs unwise to engage conflict with Tyler.â
in Claude looked at Jordan and calmly asked, âHow long do you think weâll be able to keep control?â
Jordan sighed. âThe events of the past were too complex, and you were caught up in them as well. Itâs best to focus on recovery. Besides, Tyler wouldnât challenge our ownership due to our familial ties.
Thatâs an advantage.â
Jordan wanted the families to stay peaceful, and it wouldnât work if the current situation continued.
Morgan was no longer around, but the families still had a connection.
However, Claude asked, âHow long do you think this is going to last?!!
Jordan went silent. He was trying to find a way to detach from the Harrises without affecting their partnership.
Claude shouldnât be linked to a dead person forever, so Jordan said, âDonât rush it. Weâre still in good standing, so weâll figure something out in the future,â
Claude still looked calm. He wasnât against his fatherâs decision, but no one knew what was actually on his mind.
Katrina didnât know what was happening, so she asked, âDid something happen to Yancey?â
Jordan didnât know his son well, so he suggested, âHost a tea party and invite Ana and Maisy Harris.â
Seeking to defuse tensions between Claude and Tyler, Jordan hoped to avoid further discord at the board meeting.
Rebuilding Yancey required patience.
Jordan asked, âWhat do you think, Claude?â
Claude smiled and replied, âI have no problems with that. Weâll do as you say.â
âThe Harrises will probably bring their new daughterâinâlaw over. Katrina, serve her well.â
Sophieâs eyes gleamed as she looked at her uncle.
Claude was quiet and just stared at the kettle that was boiling over on the table.
âOkay, Iâll⦠make arrangements,â Katrina said.
Though reluctant to engage with Ana due to her unpleasant demeanor, Katrina knew she had no choice but to comply this time.
âReach out to them. Letâs hold the party tomorrow.â
âOkay.â
Sophie focused on her meal, stealing glances at Claude between bites.
