Chapter 400
The Beginning Of All Sins
âIâve decided to leave after the babyâs born. Thereâs just a few months left, so Iâll tough it out. No need for concern or comments. This is my call.â
Claude furrowed his brows, meeting her gaze.
âCan you let me go now?â Olivia didnât want to be under his spell anymore, so she sounded cold.
After Dylan entered the room, he realized Olivia looked familiar and tried to remember where he had seen her before. He searched his memory, but nothing came up, so he placed down the wine glass and stood up.
âWhere are you off to?â a friend asked.
âTo the bathroom.â He then walked out of the room.
He walked along the corridor and looked around but didnât see the person he was looking for. After turning a few corners, he saw a man and a woman standing in a corner, and he stopped and stared at them.
âOlivia, you know youâre different from me. The first time I saw you, my eyes shone because I felt as though a ball of light was standing before me.â
He chuckled, but no one knew what was behind it. âI didnât even notice how differently I treated you.â
Olivia listened but wasnât moved because she was pregnant now. She knew what she should care about and what she shouldnât.
âIf you treated me differently, how about Morgan?â
Olivia didnât want to avoid the name any longer and stared straight into his eyes. She then continued, âGiven your relationship with Morgan and the Harrises, do you think this is something appropriate to say to me?â
Olivia looked away and pulled her hand away, but Claude just stood there.
Dylan stood a distance away but heard their conversation.
He stared at Claude who had his back facing him and thought, âWas Claude confessing his feelings to this woman?â
âThat is surprising. When did he get involved with this woman?â
Dylan was curious and just watched as things unfolded. He stared at Oliviaâs side profile for a long time, and then the familiarity felt stronger and stronger until something came to his mind.
âIsnât this the woman in the papers, the epicenter of the Harris familyâs scandal?â
âThe legendary Mrs. Harris?â Dylan almost said that out loud, but he stopped it and bit his tongue.
He was still in shock when his phone rang. He checked it, saw the number and his heart sank, and quickly left.
Claude heard the ringtone and turned around, but Dylan managed to get out of his line of sight in time, so he just squinted.
Olivia didnât see Dylan, but she heard the phone and looked over, but there was no one there.
