Chapter 157
Divorce Time
Chapter 157 1:
:
Charlene paused before asking, âSo, when do you wanna go?â
âUm...â Jasmine seemed hesitant.
Charlene figured she was biding her time, waiting for a moment when both Vesta and Thorne were preoccupied so she could have her mom all to herself. However, she had no idea when that opportunity would arise, which explained her hesitation.
Charlene looked away and said, âNo worries, just let me know when youâre ready, and if Iâm free, weâll go.â
Jasmine beamed, âOkay!â
After a hectic week.
On Friday evening, Charlene got off work a bit early, Just as she was about to whip up something for dinner, Jasmineâs call came through.
Charlene hesitated for a moment before answering.
âMom, Iâm free this Saturday, letâs go skiing!â
Charlene had promised to take her skiing whenever she wanted.
But she hadnât planned on it for tomorrow.
Tomorrow, she had a semiâsocial commitment she didnât want to mix with motherâdaughter time.
She responded, âIâm not free tomorrow, sweetheart. Pick another day.â
âBut I really want to go this Saturday. Canât you make it, please?â Jasmine tried to wheedle her mom into agreeing.
âNot this Saturday, maybe next week. If you still want to go, weâll plan for it then.â
Jasmine tried to protest, but Charlene was firm, âTalk to me about it next week if youâre still interested. And remember to eat well, donât be picky.â
With that, Charlene hung up.
Jasmine didnât call back.
Knowing her daughter, Charlene figured Jasmine was probably miffed.
But Charlene wasnât too bothered and headed into the kitchen to start on dinner.
The next day.
Charlene got a call from Granger asking if she needed a ride, which she declined.
After breakfast, Charlene drove herself to the ski resort.
Upon her arrival, Granger and Daisy were already there.
Seeing her, Granger looked over, but Daisy, breaking away from Granger, ran excitedly towards Charlene, âMs. Ross!â
As Daisy hugged her, Charlene gently returned the embrace, noticing Daisyâs cheerful smile, she commented, âLooks like youâve grown a bit taller, and your cheeks are chubbier, making you even prettier.â
Delighted by the compliment, Daisy nodded, âYeah! Iâve been eating lots of burgers.â
Charlene chuckled, about to reply, when Daisy suddenly pulled out a crystal keychain from her pocket, âMs. Ross, this is for you.â
The keychain featured a miniature pink cat backpack with a tiny white kitten inside, quite unique.
08:44 It was similar but differently colored from one Jasmine had attached to her backpackâs zipper not too long ago.
Given that Granger often included Daisy in outings with Thorne, Vesta, and others, it wasnât surprising Daisy and Jasmine had matching keychains.
Charlene paused but didnât pry, instead smiling, âItâs beautiful, I love it. Thank you, Daisy.â
Hearing Charlene liked it, Daisyâs happiness doubled, and she tugged at Charlene, âMs. Ross, letâs go skiing.â
Charlene agreed, âSure.â
As they walked in, Granger turned to Charlene and asked, âHave you had breakfast yet? We brought some along in case you havenât eaten.â
Charlene replied, âNo need, Iâve already eaten.â
âAll right.â
After suiting up and donning goggles, they headed out to ski.
Daisy was still a novice, but Charlene, having skied for many years, patiently guided her.
The ski resort was bustling with visitors over the weekend.
