Chapter 241
Divorce Time
Chapter 241 âHey there, want to buy some candied apples?â
Charlene turned around.
The glossy, vibrant red of the candied apples caught her eye, and she felt a little tug at her heart.
It had been ages since she last had one.
With that thought, she glanced over at Jasmine. Sure enough, Jasmine was happily munching away on her own candied apple.
Not too far off, Vesta, clutching a bouquet of red roses, was cozied up next to Thorne, deep in conversation. Jasmine, in a playful gesture, offered her halfâeaten treat to Vesta.
Vesta laughed and took a bite from Jasmineâs hand, then Jasmine took another bite before offering it to Thorne.
Thorne just shook his head, said something Charlene couldnât hear, and declined.
Charlene turned her attention back to the vendor. âIâll take a bunch of strawberries, please.â
Just as she was about to ask York if he wanted anything, he beat her to it. âIâve got this.â
He quickly pulled out his phone to pay, taking the candied apples from the vendor and handing them to her. The candied apples were just a few bucks.
Charlene accepted them with a smile. âThanks.â
âNo problem.â
They continued chatting, oblivious to the fact that Vesta and Thorne had glanced their way, catching York paying for Charleneâs treat.
Thorneâs expression darkened slightly, and the smile on Vestaâs face faded.
Charlene and York didnât notice.
The fireworks show would last about twenty minutes.
As the fireworks continued to light up the sky, they turned back to watch them.
Jasmine turned to them, âDad, Ms. Hawkins, what are you looking at?â
Thorne withdrew his gaze. âNothing important.â
Vesta just smiled.
A few minutes later, the fireworks finally came to an end.
Charlene said, âThanks for bringing me to see the fireworks, and for the candied apples.â
âHeading back now?â
âYeah, just going to pick up a few plants and then head home,â she replied.
York didnât insist she stay longer. âAlright.â
âSee you.â
âSee you.â
Charlene walked away.
York followed the crowd, heading toward the parking lot. He hadnât gone far when he heard someone call out, âYork?â
1/2 12:58 Chapter 244 It was Dalton.
York turned around, greeting, âDalton.â
Dalton approached him. âWhat are you doing here?â
âCame for dinner with some friends,â York replied. âWhat about you?â
Dalton looked slightly uncomfortable. âAbout the same.â
âIâm heading out. How about you?â
âI-â Daltonâs words trailed off as his gaze fixed on something in the distance.
York followed his line of sight and saw Thorne and Vesta. They didnât seem to be leaving but had instead found their way to a nearby café.
Daltonâs eyes stayed locked on them. âThat girl... could the rumors be true? Does Thorne really have a daughter?â
York wasnât all that interested in the gossip. âMaybe.â
Dalton stood there, lips pressed together.
If that girl really was Thorneâs daughter, wouldnât Vesta have a tough time in the future? And there were also whispers that Thorne was already married.
If that turned out to be true, and if Thorne and his exâwife got tangled up over the kid, wouldnât Vesta suffer even more?
