Chapter 295
Divorce Time
Chapter 295 Charlene reached out to hold her steady, preventing her from tumbling over.
As soon as she got close, the familiar scent of Vestaâs perfume wafted into her nose again.
Charlene took Jasmineâs backpack and placed it gently on the sofa. Just as Jasmine dashed toward the bed, Charlene grabbed her by the arm and asked, âHave you taken a shower?â
âYes, I have.â Jasmine said.
If she had showered and still carried Vestaâs scent, it suggested one of two possibilities: either Vesta was living with her and Thorne, or Thorne and Vesta had together dropped her off. Evidently, they had chosen not to come into the building with her.
Charlene said calmly, âYouâre all sweaty. How about changing into some fresh clothes?â
Jasmine remembered she had been running around after her shower and might have sweated a bit. She nodded and obediently headed to the bathroom to change.
Meanwhile, Charlene continued sorting through her papers..
When Jasmine emerged, now in clean clothes, she rummaged through her backpack and pulled out a small bunnyâshaped lantern. âMom, look! A lantern!â
Charlene paused and looked at it. âThis is-â
âDaddy bought it for me! Isnât it cute and pretty?!â
Charlene replied, â...Yes.â
Jasmine then dashed over to turn off Charleneâs room lights, flicked on the lantern, and excitedly shared, âDoesnât it look even prettier with the lights off?!â
Charlene agreed, â...Yes, it does look prettier.â After a moment, she asked, âDo you really like it?â
âYeah, I love it so much!â Jasmine exclaimed. Then she produced another lantern. âDaddy got me two, and! saved this one for you. Will you take a walk downstairs with me, carrying our lanterns?â
Charlene sighed, âIâve already had my shower, maybe tomorrow. You just changed too; you donât want to get dirty again.â
Jasmineâs enthusiasm was slightly dampened by Charleneâs response. Her excitement and joy took a small hit. âOh...â
But it had been a month since Jasmine last saw Charlene. Realizing Charlene wasnât very interested in the lantern, she stopped trying to sell the idea and instead put the lantern down, running over to hug her. âMom...â
Charlene set her papers aside. âYes, what is it?â
Initially, Jasmine remained quiet, but then she slipped off her shoes and climbed into Charleneâs lap. âI missed you so much,â she murmured as she wrapped her arms around Charleneâs neck and delivered two swift kisses to her cheek. Breaking into a giggle, she added, âMom, you smell so nice.â
Charleneâs arms tightened around her slightly. She paused, then gently stroked Jasmineâs cheek without saying a word. She could tell Jasmineâs face had matured a little, her features shifting slightly, looking a bit more like Thorne.
Lowering her gaze, she noticed Jasmine wasnât wearing socks. She placed her on the bed and covered her feet with a blanket.
âHow long will you be staying here this time?â
Jasmine shrugged. âI donât know. Daddy just told me to wait here for him to come back.â
Charlene murmured an acknowledgment and didnât pursue it further.
Jasmine, however, remembered something else and jumped off the bed to find her backpack. âMom, I got you a 1/2 09:55 Chapter 298 little gift when I went overseas.â
She retrieved a snow globe she had bought for Charlene and handed it over, her eyes full of hope.
Ever since Jasmine had grown close to Vesta, it had been a long time since she thought of giving Charlene any gifts.
Charlene accepted it, feeling a calm gratitude, and said, âThank you, sweetie. I love it.â
