chapter 16: My husband

Parker's POV

"I love you, Parker." He whispers against my lips as he still holds me in his embrace.

It's absolutely surprising to me when he came to me and kissed me all of a sudden. But his confession is what made me even more shocked. He loves me? I never thought Kaino would come to love me at one point and that too it's coming from him is making my heart beat at new rhythm. In any case I'm not going to loose this chance to expression my love to him and this seems like the perfect time. He confessed and if I tell him how I feel towards him, it'll give us an opportunity to know each others feelings.

Keeping all the things in mind, I bring up my hands and wrap them around his neck as I pull him closer and continue the kiss. It's not aggressive or passionate rather a simple and soft kiss to let him know that I do feel the same as him and that I don't reject his confession. Not long after, I pull away from him but still let my hands rest on his shoulder.

"Kaino, I can't truly say I love you but I do have feelings towards you. I'm falling for you and I know in no time I'll tell you my love to you. But please, just give me some time. I'm not rejecting your confession, I just want time because everything feels weird to me. Please don't leave me, I can't live without you." I tell him worriedly because though I'm not rejecting his confession, I'm not exactly accepting it either.

And I don't want him to think otherwise and leave me or stop loving me.

"Parker, calm down." He says as he places his hand on my cheek and wipe the tear which I didn't even know roll down my eyes.

"I understand what you're saying, Parker. I didn't tell you my feelings so that you return yours. I only told you because I want you to know what I feel towards you. You don't have to accept me immediately, take all the time you need. I won't force you or rush you into anything, I'll wait for you even if it takes forever." He assures, smiling at me.

"Thank you, Kaino." I thank him, my heart feeling happy that he's giving a chance.

"No need to thank me. We'll go slow, take one step at a time. Anything that your comfortable with." He states and I nod with a smile.

We then walk inside and I sit on the couch with pup as Kaino goes to change his clothes. My heart is still beating crazily as I sit and stare at nothing in specific. Is this even real? It seems feels too good to be real. I thought Kaino just saw me as a responsibility and nothing more. I even thought he would hate me when he knows I started liking him. Even the thought scared me. But now he himself said he loves me and that he would wait for me. I just can't help the happiness that's bubbling inside me. It feels all unreal but wonderful at the same.

"Don't smile by yourself, though you look cute it's creepy at the same time." Kaino's voice makes me turn to him and I find him walking to me.

He comes and sits next to me before taking the pup from my hands. Bringing pup close to him, he pushes his lips forward and makes kissing noises. As I see him doing it, my mind goes back to few minutes ago when he kissed me. My cheeks heat up and I trace my lips to feel the tingling feelings. It's not like it's my first kiss or anything but it's first with Kaino and it feels so different but in the good way.

"Let's go and eat dinner, shall we?" He questions bringing me back from my thoughts.

"Oh! Yeah. Let's eat." I agree immediately and get up from the couch as I leave hurriedly before he could see my red face.

I serve us the food and we eat in comfortable silence before we go to bed. That night I really had one of the best nights sleep.

After the confession from Kaino, many days went by and we both got busy with work, Kaino with his hospital while I got busy at the company. Though we were busy, nothing changed between us. We are like before, having time for each other. In the morning, before going to work we eat our breakfast together and everyday I wait for him to eat dinner with him. I still haven't told my answer to Kaino. In this past few weeks, I became confident of my feelings towards him, that I do love Kaino and today I'm going to confess to him.

"Are you ready?" Kaino questions as he walks out of the room dressed in black suit and looking all handsome.

"Yes." I reply and walk to him, I too wore black so that I can match with that of his.

"Let's go then." With him saying that, we leave the house after feeding pup.

Getting in the car, Kaino pulls away from our house and I sit comfortably in my seat. Today there's a small party of the company as we managed to reach our business at number one position for a period of six months. My father is so happy and ended up arranging this party. I tagged Kaino along with me because I wanted him to come with me. He didn't agree, though it was hard I still managed to convince him at the end. After this party, when we reach home I'm going to tell Kaino my decision.

Few minutes in to drive, we reach the venue where the party is going to take place. Giving the keys to the valet, we make our way inside while holding hands. The security opens the door for us and we go in. Everyone greets us as we walk past them and I smile at them with a nod while making my way to where my parents are.

"Parker, Kaino, you guys are here!" My mother exclaims as she pulls me in a hug when we reach where they're sitting.

"Good that you guys are finally here, party is going to start in few mintues." Father chuckles as we came late.

"Sorry." Kaino says while rubbing his nape.

I giggle at his cute embarrassed gesture. Serves him right! If he agreed to me immediately when I asked him to come with me, we would be here on time. But no! He kept saying he won't be needed here and that he won't come. It took me a while to convince him. But it doesn't matter to me though, being late and all because as long as he's with me it's enough for me.

After our small family reunion, the party starts shortly. It's just like any other business party where they speak about the company and how the employees worked to achieve goals. It's boring to say the least. I just sit as I wait for it to over so that we can go home. After what feels like hours, the speech session finally ends and I sigh as we get up from our seats to eat dinner.

All the tables for eating has been arranged with names written for everyone. We sit at our reserved table and get served with food. We eat our dinner with little talks here and there. When we're finally done, I excuse myself as I wanted to use washroom.

"I'll be back in a minute." I tell Kaino and walk to the direction where washrooms are.

I use the washroom and wash my hands before I leave the place. When I reach our table, I see my parents but not Kaino. I frown as I search the hall but he is not seen.

"Where did Kaino go?" I query my parents.

"Oh! He went out. He said he need to attend a call." Father says.

"I'll go and find him." I tell them and before they could stop, I walk away and out of the hall.

I search for him all around after leaving the hall. I don't find him immediately and decide to go back but then I find a figure standing at the far end. I smile realising it's Kaino and I narrow my eyes when I don't just see Kaino but someone else with him. I head to where they're standing and froze in my steps when I hear the words from the girl standing with Kaino.

"Excuse me, can I talk to you?" A girl who's face I can't see properly requests Kaino if she could talk to him

"Yes, what is it that you want to talk to me?" Kaino asks the girl like the good guy that he is.

"I heard your name is Kaino and that you married our CEO. I also know how it happened and what lead you to marry him. The first time I saw you was on the day when you came along with the CEO on his first day and liked you from then on. Knowing how your marry is arranged and that there's no love between you guys, I decided to tell you about my feelings. I love you. So, can you accept me?" The girl who I recognise as a member from HR department confessions to Kaino.

She confessed to Kaino, my husband! How dare she? I take long strides as I walk to them and pull Kaino's hands making them both look at me. Both their eyes filled with shock as they watch me. Her face sweats as she starts fidgeting with her hands.

"Parker, it's not like what you think. Let me tell.." Kaino goes to explain the situation but I cut him off.

"You! How dare you confess to my husband?" I question her, my voice rude and angry.

"S-sir, I like him and thought you both don't like each other." She responds, still dare enough to say she likes my husband and that too to me.

"You're no one to assume things about us, whether we like each other or not that's not your business. Don't you have shame to come and say you like him knowing he's someone else husband? How indecent! Just get out of my sight, you're fired from work as well. Don't ever show your face to me again if you want to live because if I see you again, I'll kill you." I warn her sternly and she runs away from the scene.

I then turn around to see my husband who's standing with fear in his eyes and gulps seeing me.

"Parker, let me te.." He starts but I stop him again.

"Shut up! Don't talk anything. We're going home." I state and walk past him to the hall.

"Mother, father, we're going home now." I tell them as I reach the table.

When I say that they both look at me confused before their vision goes past me. Knowing Kaino is behind me, I don't turn around and just wait for their answers.

"Oh, okay. Go back home safely." They agree and I nod before I turn around.

I give Kaino a glare before I start walking. I hear him bidding good bye to them after which he follows me. The drive home is filled with silence but not the comfortable silence that always surrounds us rather this time it's deadly. When we reach the home, I quickly get down the car and blast the door close before I walk into the house. I stand in the middle of the room with my hands on my hips as I wait for my dear husband to walk in.
