chapter 18: Once home

Parker's POV

"Are you still angry at me?" Kaino asks me as we sit at the table and eat our breakfast.

"No." I reply and stuff my mouth with pancake.

"Then why are so silent? You didn't talk to me from the time we got up." He points out the obvious.

I'm not angry at him, but it's true I didn't talk to him. At night, I went to him and convinced him to sleep in our room again and hold him in the sleep all night long but from morning I haven't spoken to him. I woke up almost at nine as today being sunday and made breakfast. He didn't wake up and I didn't want to wake him up. So I sent pup to him and it just took few licks on his face from pup for him to wake up. After he got freshen up, we're eating our food.

I do want to talk to him but when I make an attempt to talk, I get reminded for the confession from that girl from yesterday. And it's totally ruining my mood.

"Okay. After eating, go and get ready we're going out." He says making me narrow my eyes.

"Where are we going?" I query after I finish chewing my food.

"It's a surprise." He states before he gets up and walks to the sink as he finished eating.

"I don't like surprises. So tell me where you're taking me." I tell him, for some reasons when people try to surprise me it always ends up being a disaster.

"I can't tell you, it has to be a secret but I'm sure you're going to love whatever I'm doing or wherever I'm going to take you." He replies confidently and washes his plate before drying it and placing it back in it's place.

"You're so confident about it. What if I don't like it like you expect? So isn't better for you to let me know about it now?" I try another method so that at least then he would tell me where he's taking me.

"Believe me you're going to love this. So don't ask anymore questions instead go and get ready. I'll do the same." He says, clearly knowing my intentions.

"Okay." I finally agree and stomp my feet as I walk to our room but not before hearing his chuckle.

Heading directly to the closet, I open the door and scan all the pair of clothes. I already took a bathe so I just need to put on the dress and I'll be ready. But the question is which dress or what kind of style I should choose? Should I wear formals or choose casuals? I can easily decide on that if he told me where we're going but no, he didn't and now I don't know what kind to wear. Not having proper idea, I pick out a black cotton jeans and a white shirt which would be fine with either formals or casuals. Changing into them, I comb my hair, don't really style it just comb it properly and spray some perfume so that I would spell good. I wear the dress shoes and take one last look at myself in the mirror before existing the room. I look good enough, if not anything great.

"I'm ready!" I announce as I walk into the living room and find Kaino setting everything for pup until our return.

Hearing my voice, he turns to me before standing up and walks to where I'm standing. When he reaches me, he watches me carefully and I look at myself to see if there's anything wrong with me but I find none.

"You're looking beautiful." He complements me with a smile and I blush, my cheeks heating up immediately.

He lets out a small chuckle and walks past me, to our room. I just flop down on the couch while holding my face in my hands and fanning it to reduce the heat which I'm suddenly feeling. What was that for? Why did he suddenly complement me? I was so shocked that I couldn't even thank him nor utter a word to say the least. I take time to calm down as I wait for Kaino to get here after getting ready. Ten minutes later, I hear the door sound and turn around to see him walking out of the room. He wore blue jeans and black shirt, just normal like me.

"Ready to leave?" He questions me while moving towards me.

"Yeah." I reply and get up from the couch.

We lock the doors and get in the car. Once we're settled, Kaino pulls out a blindfold and shows it to me.

"What is that for?" I ask him confused.

"To close your eyes. I don't want you to know where I'm taking you until we reach the place." He states and leans towards me to tie it.

"Kaino, you said it's a surprise, so how will I know where you're taking me unless we go there? This isn't needed." I tell him, I don't even have a small clue as where he's taking. Why does he think I'll know?

"Don't ask me any questions. Put on this blindfold, please!" He pleads making his eyes big.

I glance at him for few seconds and sigh before I nod at him. A huge grin appears on his face and he instantly ties the blindfold around my eyes, covering my vision. When he finishes tying it, I just lean back on the seat and he starts driving. The drive goes on smooth with soft melody playing in the radio. I feel so peaceful that even the blindfold doesn't bother me. It feels like I'm just sleeping. It's comfortable that I didn't know for how long we travelled or that we already reached the place until Kaino called me out.

"Parker, we're here." His voice reaches my ears and I slowly sit up properly before turning to him.

"Can I remove this now?" I query pointing to the blindfold.

"I'll take it off." He states and helps me to untie them.

As I closed my eyes for sometime, even after removing the blindfold my vision isn't that clear. The bright and clear sunlight passing through the window bind my vision for few seconds. I blink my eyes for few times and open them fully after adjusting to the light. Kaino climbs down the car and comes to my side. He helps me by opening my door before I could and I get down with his help. He closes the door back and locks the car. That's when I look at the small building standing in front of us, bringing my memories back. It's the place where I spent my childhood days and it's this small building which has been a shelter for many, the orphanage.

I turn my face and watch him perplexed. This is the surprise he planned for me? I thought he would take me on some date and we would get time to spend with each other. But this, this is better than any date or surprise. Is this the reason why he blindfolded me? Because if not, I would identity the way and get to know we're coming here even before we reach. Because it's this place, did he say I'm going to love this surprise? Of course, I love this, the place where I grew up and had all my childhood memories. The place which I call my home.

But how did he know about this? I never once talked about this place to him. He, of course, know that I'm a orphan, everyone knows that but no one apart from Zayn, mother and father know this place.

"How do you know about this place?" I question him.

"Yesterday night when you went to washroom, mother, father and I were talking casually. And in between those talks father remembered about this and said you used to visit this place once every month. But from the time I have been here, I never once saw you coming here but I know the reason. I wanted to bring you here and surprise you." He responds, smiling at me.

True, though I moved away from here, I always made sure to visit this place at least once every month and meet everyone here. However, after that incident, I haven't been here for months. It's not that I didn't want to come here but it's just that it slipped away from my mind.

"So, do you like my surprise?" He asks me nervously.

I smile at him before replying, "I love this surprise, thank you so much."

That brings a smile on his face as well.

"Let's go then." With him saying that, I nod at him eagerly, so ready to meet them as I missed them all.

We both walk into the building and immediately I get greeted by the security. I greet him back and ask about his well being before I make my way in. As soon as I step in the huge hall area, I hear loud cheers and by the next second I get surrounded by children. Because I used to visit very often, everyone recognises me. As they all surround me, I get down and hug them, greeting them all.

"Parker, how are you?" While I'm with kids, I hear madam's voice.

I get up and stand before her as she looks at me with her ever motherly smile. She's the orphanage head and I always called her madam. Some people called her mother while some called her as aunty but she would respond to any kind. After all she's in the place of our mothers and she would look after us well. She never made me feel unloved and I always feel grateful to her for that.

"Madam!" I hug her and she chuckles while patting my back, "I'm good. How are you?"

"I'm fine, Parker. Good to know you're doing great." She says after pulling away from the hug.

I nod at her with a small smile as she glances at Kaino who's busy playing with kids. She knows about Zayn and my marriage to Kaino. Being close to her, I shared everything with her from being a child. I told her about Zayn and that we were going to get marry. But I didn't talk to her again after the accident. However, she sent me a condolences letter few days after the accident. Not knowing how she got to know, I called her immediately and that was then she told me, father informed her about everything, about Zayn and my marriage.

"I'm really doing well, thanks to him." I whisper while looking at Kaino who's laughing and playing along with kids.

Zayn never once visited this place with me. He would always be busy with work and I understood him. But now seeing how Kaino is so happy to be here and seeing the smiles on the faces of these kids is making me happy.

"Everyone, wait here!" Kaino shouts loudly bringing me out of my thoughts and I see all the kids nodding at him.

He goes out hurriedly and comes back after five minutes carrying gifts for the kids. My eyes widen seeing those. When did he even prepare all this?

He places the gifts on the table and the helpers start giving them to the kids as he walks to me.

"When did you prepare these?" I query, looking at him.

"Secret, I have my ways and means." He winks with a chuckle and I shake my head as I look back at the kids.

They all are happily taking the gifts and I smile as I watch them but frown when I find a small boy standing at the other end of the room, all by himself and just staring at me. I didn't see him here before, is he new? Who is he?
