Chapter 18
Pack's Runt
Chapter 18
I needed another cold shower to remove the dirt from my body yet again. This time, I scrubbed myself harder and washed my hands every minute I could do after burying a man I hadn't even killed. My eyes squeezed shut tight as I held my tears back.
It was okay.
I feared what was coming next. I wasn't safe anywhere, even here. Without a pack, a wolf was nothing. I was without a pack and a runt, weakest from all. It was better if I had died with my Dad that night itself.
A towel went around my body before I tightened it and stepped out. As soon as I saw the two familiar faces, I gasped and jumped back at their presence.
My hand went straight to my towel, grasping onto it with my life.
"What are you doing here?" I asked Angel.
My eyes clicked over to the Madame who was seated near to the window with her arms spread over the couch while Angel unpacked something.
"Just dropping some things off. You will need clothes one day or the other," Sheryl said, glancing into my direction. "How is it you managed to flee from my house?"
"I went looking for something. I didn't mean to. I'm sorry." I quickly said while closing the bathroom door behind me as the steam began to flood outside and into the cold bedroom.
"Thankfully there haven't been any repercussions yet from the Alpha, otherwise I'd be here for something else entirely," she said, her lips curling into a smile. "Angel got some clothes for you along with some sanitary stuff. You should comfortable with it for a while. If you need anything more, you can let me before I leave and I should manage to send it to you by day light."
I glanced at the clothes and the other things they had gotten. Finally. Something more.
"Thank you." I whispered to her.
Madame's gaze was fixated over me, I could feel it pierce through me as I went through the things and thanked her for it.
"Angel," She called out her name. "Why don't you go downstairs and tell the driver to pull the car front? We should be leaving in few."
Angel nodded and waved her hand at me before leaving my bedroom. She had sorted most of the things out which made me assume they had been here for longer. I had been in the shower for nearly an hour and the entire time, they were outside.
Sheryl stood and looked outside into the hallway before slamming the door shut and returning her attention to me.
By now, I was still clutching onto my towel while water dripped from the small locks on the side of my neck.
Her gaze ran through my body before she asked, "Why hasn't he killed you yet?"
I shrugged, not knowing the answer to it myself.
"I've given him hundred's of women since he turned fifteen, every week and yet, not once, he has showed any interest to any of them. Not the way he has shown an interest to youâyou, another pack's female, a runt. What is it about you that has the Alpha interests?" She circled around me, studying everything on me.
"I don't know." I whispered, my shoulders straightening back. I was clueless, just as she was and everyone else.
"Well, we'll know soon enough," She smiled to me before walking over to the bag set over the table. Reaching in, she pulled out something and returned to me. "Take this."
I took the box from her hands. It was pills, several of them inside. My brows furrowed together, "What's this for?"
"If the Alpha does decide to bed you. It's for protection. Runts can easily be bred." She said, her expression tight over her face.
Surprise fell over mine and I pursed my lips tight. It wasn't going to happenâor maybe it was. I didn't want to go there. It was too much to think of. My breaths raced as I folded my hand around the box and kept it to myself.
"He cannot be easily pleased and he enjoys games more than anything else," she continued before turning to the closet which was now filled. "There's a dress inside. It's red, and short. Red is his weak color, he does not resists from a woman who wears red."
"Why are you telling me all this?" I asked while taking in a sharp breath. "It's not going to hapâ"
Her fingers slipped underneath my chin and she rose my head, "Of course it's going to happen, Sweetie. My bet is three days from the day he touches you. Don't worry, I assume you'll enjoy it more." She chuckled a little before grabbing her bag and leaving the room while I stood, shocked.
My chest rose and dropped.
He had already touched me, earlier in the morning. Did it meanâ
No. She was probably joking. But what if she wasn't?
I locked the door as she left and hid the pills underneath my pillow. Undoing my towel, I searched the closet for something comfortable to wear. My eyes clicked over to the red dress hanging in the corner, waiting for me to put it on.
What if I did? Would heâI needed to stop.
I quickly wore whatever came into my hands before watering down my dry throat with some water.
A runt couldn't go in heat. It was one beneficial thing of not having a wolf inside me. I never lusted for anything nor craved for a man's touch.
But now. Every muscle in my body steeled as I thought of Nicholas and the pleasure his fingers had given me earlier. That was the tip of the iceberg and I knew it.
To shift my thoughts, I stepped outside, hoping to put some food in my belly before falling asleep. It had been a long, draining day and I needed everything to be quiet for a few hours till tomorrow.
When I reached the stairs, there was a man next to it. The same man who had been near to us in the lake. I remembered his name, it was Malik.
"You cannot go down." He said, extending his arm and stopping me.
I stepped back while raising a brow, "Why?"
"The Alpha has an audience tonight and he's restricted you from coming down," Malik said, his shoulder back and straight while he spoke. "If there's something you need, I can get it for you."
I wondered who was downstairs. It had been only a couple of minutes since the Madame and Angel left. Who else was there?
"I want to eat something..." I trailed off as my stomach grumbled in hunger.
"I'll get it for you. Anything else?"
"No, that's all." I sighed and turned, on my way back to my room while I heard Malik stomp down the stairs.
When his footsteps faded, I paused on my tracks and my brows furrowed as I heard a similar voice echo through the walls. It was unclear. I had to focus on it harder till it reached my ears.
It was my brother's voice.
